Thank you all for making this video! Trying to re-establish some more natural drought resistant grass here in the southwest and we need all of the tips we can get :). Tried to do a large section before (with very little success) but I think we're going to pivot to more of a divide and conquer strategy where we can ensure the section stays adequately damp.

Thanks so much for this video! I started about 1/3rd of an acre of buffalo grass 4 weeks ago, but did not presoak. We then had an unexpected heavy rain that floated the seeds out of several spots and so I need to re-seed those spots. It makes sense to me to presoak the new seeds to get a jump on the germination time so that I don't have to return to the daily watering of the whole area for another 3 weeks (This video suggests that the soaked seeds should actually germinate in about a week's time and I hope that's the case). Thanks again!

Great video! Thank you! Should I try and keep my kiddos and dog off the area until it is established?

if we pre soaked the buffalo seed this way, would it be an issue to apply tenacity?

I bought Sharp Bros brand for several years, good seed. price per pound was cheap relative to all others. The pricing and packaging has changed, they raised the price about 3 fold (used another brand last year, which worked as well). I did buy Sharp in the middle of their price hiking a couple years ago, and packing and instructions changed, (I think they said it was a newer type seed), but there was no longer any presoak instructions. Still did pre-soak, seems like such a good idea and would save water, results were the same as old Sharp's seed. If Sharp Bros read this, could you reply if you no longer pre-soak seeds, and if so why not? Thanks.

can I use buffalograss as a re-seed for existing law that I will start with an aerator machine first and cover with a Kellog's topper? I am in southern California up in the high desert and want to allow this to take over my existing Fescue grass. is this possible?

Surely he was soaking those seeds for more than a few days. You can see how he's aged. Hair turned white and all.

It’s the chemicals in the seeds. Not only did it speed up germination , it sped up his life .

If you can't do the water replacement process then don't do the pre-soak at all.

I soak all my seed!! Then blend with milorganite!! To spread it evenly!!! It’s all about your soil!!!! If it’s not in great condition rough it up a bit put seed down then add a layer of potted soil for its nutrients!! If soil is in good condition thru seed down and keep moist!!

You lost me at Round Up usage. No thank you. Didn’t they get sued successfully for a cancer case? We avoid that product

Everything causes cancer. Just ask CA lawmakers. If it were a real thing you wouldn’t see it on the market anymore. Just lawyers getting rich. Been using it for 30 yrs, usually with a backpack sprayer, wearing shorts, no mask, gloves, etc. Still cancer free:) As with any spray-on chemical, stay upwind from it, rinse off any exposed skin after use, and take a shower as you normally would.
