From Pueblo. My wife bought our Buffalograss seed from Western Native Seeds near Salinda the spring before last (2023) and planted it mostly according to the instructions from the video by the Colorado Springs Utilities. The ultimate result is shown in the photos which this show thick and pure Buffalo grass growth. We've not cut this grass and, after initially and weeding in earlier months, it has become so thick that it has become self-weeding. We couldn't be more pleased! The ground was simply a weed-lot before. We will be repeating this again next summer with other weed-lot areas. While we did cover this area with black plastic, we will be covering these areas more carefully to eliminate the weeds beforehand. Some of our plastic had holes and we will start this fall and finish up by mid-June to make sure almost all of the weeds have been eliminated. (We are trying to stay away from herbicides.) We may allow some of the weeds to grow for two weeks before covering them again in May. Ultimately, I think Buffalo grass is self-weeding if you make the effort to assist it at the beginning.
I couldn't find information from OSU or Master Gardeners on introduction of Buffalo grass to a yard with Bermuda grass and weeds. I'll try the black plastic next January I guess because RM45 and others have done nothing to kill the Bermuda. Thanks
If I have a few small patches on the edges of a traditional lawn that never filled in. Will gramma and buffalo grasses not establish next to the existing grass? I have spring bulbs in my lawn. Mowing in February isn't an option. Will mowing in May or June work well instead?
Hi! I am not able to access the vegetation removal factsheet for some reason - but I was wondering, if you are using a sod-cutter to remove the lawn, what do you mean by be thorough? Would a depth of 2" be sufficient for removing enough of the lawn grass roots?

I am sorry you are unable to access the factsheet. Is this the link you are using? www.csu.org/Documents/VegetationRemoval.pdf. - Diana
@@SpringsUtilities That was the link, but it still doesn't work for some reason - no worries though!
Do you recommend tamping/rolling over the seed before adding top soil? Is a topsoil necessary after throwing seed?
where do I find the step sheet for using the core aeration method for installing blue grama?
How about micro-clover?
