The aurora is the only bark river I own. I like it a lot. Mine has micarta handles and they're slick. The previous owner even scuffed them up a bit. I can see why he did. Great video of a great knife.
From what I can tell, a lot of thought went into designing the Aurora. It has one of the most comfortable Bark River handles, and the blade design excels at many tasks. I have used mine a good bit. One thing I've never done is process game with it. I believe it would work for game, but I like more belly on the blade for that purpose.
@@MountainLife1 Mine is maybe a little longer than I'd like for game, for me personally. But brother, it is a great knife otherwise. And you're right - that handle is very comfortable...
I ordered what I thought was the same combination as yours...ended up with a full height ground blade with a thicker very cool Desert Iron handle...I’ve learned to appreciate it.
I was hesitant but I broke down and purchased the BR Ext-1 in Magnacut...thinking they have better handle on that steel now...haven’t been able to get mine to stain...
Thank you I thought the same thing im trying to get one thats convex but seems like a long wait for it. Which one do you prefer the Aurora or the GNS? Thanks for your input I appreciated it
@@mikefox7947 The Aurora is nicer as far as handle material choice, but LT Wright build quality is better. I would go with the GNS if I was buying one right now.
Thank you I was wondering if you had both of them it would be cool video to see a side by side comparison on the Aurora and the GNS but anyways thanks for the info I'll be waiting for that vid lol

I like a thick handle for most things, especially bushcraft stuff. That full height grind should be a good slicer.

@@dlrmon1 That's good to hear. Magna-Cut should be an excellent steel if done right. I like the Ext designs.
Great video as always I have a question which knife in Lt wrights lineup would you say is similar to the Aurora?
I think the LT Wright GNS is the closest to the Aurora.

@@mikefox7947 Sorry, I don't have a GNS. If I get one, I'll be sure to do a comparison video.
