    Thank you for this review. These look better after 1000K than my Vivobarefoot Primus Trail FG after 30K of trail running.

    Great review, thank you! I've been eyeing these up, and you've helped convince me.
    I really like Freet as well so like you, I'm keen to support them.

    The good grip on rocky ground that you mention seems to be ideal for my 10 days hiking trip in the Alps this summer. Still hesitating as they are not boot style, and thinking of choosing the Freet Tundra instead. Many thanks for this honest review.

      They are great on rock but yes, if you're more confident with boot style then that's probably the way to go. I wear the Feldoms in all weathers personally but my sport has me very used to having constantly wet feet!

    You definitely give yourself time to form an opinion before your shoe reviews! 😁👍🏻 Looks like a decent choice. My only barefoot style shoe is a vivo barefoot. I don't wear them much these days.

      Freet are a great little company, I like to support UK companies where possible so I'm happy to have found one that's pretty local and also great quality.

    I love my feldoms, probably the best all round minimalist trail shoe out there. I think I’m up to about 500miles and they have separate in exactly the same place, shoe goo is great for repairing and going strong since I patched them up. It seems Freet are starting to resolve some of the QC issues now and feel I can now recommend them to people.

      My friend mentioned shoe goo to me, planning on getting that for the patch up jobs! and yes, they seem to work at improving their products all the time so I'm keen to keep supporting them

    Really interesting review, I like the look of the Feldom for trail running. I’ve a couple of other pairs of Freet shoes and have been impressed with those. And for £85 that’s a bit of a bargain in the ‘Running shoe world’ where anything under £100 really is reasonable, if they work. I use the Freet Pace as part of my running shoe range, out of curiosity what is the shoes you use for road running? I’ve subscribed and will check more of your videos later 👍

      I use freet pace for road running! Not super interested in changing to a different shoe for roads anytime soon, but I have a pair of Leap 2s that I use for work and run in from time to time that also work quite nicely for roads.

    I like it that they are so wide in the toes area and that they are so light. But the grip, as you said, doesn't look good enough for the fell races. I would definitely want them if they had deeper more triangular studs.

      To be fair, they'd be fine for racing on rocky stuff or if it was a fairly dry course. I do stick with innov8 mudclaws for racing atm though

    Maybe I missed this in the video. You said you wear different shoes for your fell races, so I’m curious - what make and model are you wearing on race day? Thanks for the brilliant review on the freets.

      I do indeed wear different shoes for fell racing. I'm still experimenting a lot trying to find the right shoes unfortunately but at the moment for anything 15km or under that's likely to be quite muddy, I use either Innov8 mudclaws or Evadict XT8s. Neither shoe is ideal but they've got enough traction for muddy terrain. Past about 15km the mudclaws are too narrow and become quite uncomfortable. The Evadicts I haven't tested sufficiently yet but they're a much higher drop and stack height than I'm used to so I likely won't use them for long stuff, just occasionally to make the most of the extra cushioning and bounce.
      I'm currently testing out Topo Athletic as a brand and hoping they'll come out tops for all my racing needs. The wide toe box gives me enough freedom for my feet but the cushioning means I can push the pace in races and workouts without smashing my feet down onto wayward pointy rocks. I have a pair of Topo MT-3s at the moment that I have used recently for a race that switched between hard surface and trail and they worked well as a shoe that can move between different terrains, but I think there's a newer model out now.

    Do you use any rock plates or insoles in these? I’m wondering if these give enough protection from rocky trails for keeping the bottom of your feet comfortable in such conditions.

      I don't use a rock plate or insoles, but Freet do insoles for their shoes so if you felt you'd need the extra cushioning the option is there.

    Those look decent. I’d like to try them but can’t find them anywhere in Vancouver.

      I believe they're only sold online. I'm not aware of them being in any shops even here in the UK, I've always ordered from the website. Obviously makes it difficult for trying them on, the downside of buying from small companies I suppose!

    If you let a cobbler get their hands on those Feldoms they can easily stitch the sole to the upper, they'll be a bit more rugged after this.
    What do you think about the Freet Calver, maybe that's something for your races?

    • @AMostlyFunctionalJess
      @AMostlyFunctionalJess  4 месяца назад

      I'll have a look into the cobbler option. I do have a pair of Freet Calver, they seem fine for training runs but I do routinely run into this issue where if I'm moving faster over any slightly harder terrain (hard packed trail, flagstones etc) in low-no cushioning shoes, my legs seem to feel like they're detaching from my body and I begin to feel nauseous. Absolutely no idea what that's about but it doesn't happen if I wear shoes with a bit more cushioning in them. That's a me problem though and not a problem with the shoe since it happens universally with any low cushioning shoe!

    Hello 👋
    New here 😀
    Really nice review, i'm looking for a pair of barefoot shoes for trail running, but the prices seem exaggerated for the product in most of them 😅
    Anyway, i don't mean to offend but kind of need the answer to see if the durability is applicable for me. May i ask you your weight? I'm 90kg so i tend to destroy the soles 😊
    Thank you for the review!

    • @AMostlyFunctionalJess
      @AMostlyFunctionalJess  Год назад +1

      Haha you're fine, I'm between 55kg and 59kg depending, so you'd probably experience faster wear but you'd still get a fair bit of use out of them
