I don't think Thrawn fears Ahsoka but he definitely understands that Ahsoka will be completely unpredictable...much like her Master and not to be underestimated. Ahsoka was forged in war like Anakin was...two of the greatest war-time Jedi(though Ahsoka never became a jedi knight she is essentially is one due to her training)who ever lived.
Well, she's not the only one to have hid and caused damage to the Empire as well.
But yeah, trained by Anakin is the most worrying part.

Ahsoka comes from arguably the most loaded and unconventional line of Jedi ever (Her -> Anakin -> Obi-Wan -> Qui-Gon -> Dooku -> Yoda). Its definitely a wise decision to avoid engaging them as much as possible.

Its just nice to have a villain that doesn't underestimate or write off the heroes. He takes them seriously as a threat and does his best to counter them because he's seen them win before. So many times in fiction you see the antagonists do that and it makes you want to scream.

@@detroitmade6I’ve always been of the opinion that the Rebellion never had a chance of surviving against the entire might of the Empire for very long, and the idea of them achieving the type of victory they did was next to impossible statistically. The only reason the Rebellion managed to keep going and accomplish what it did was because it was the will of the Force making it happen. Palpatine and the Dark Side had totally fucked the balance so severely that it demanded correction. The Force brought that balance to fruition through helping the Rebellion along and especially ensuring the actions of Luke Skywalker

It's a win win situation for thrawn, he gets to leave with all his supplies, and gets to trap ahsoka, his greatest threat on an entirely different galaxy.
He's smartly playing the odds. After being stuck there for so long he knows there's no possible way out. With that, just leaving is victory. ... And equals no casualties on his forces.
Except Ezra can call the Purgill with Frequency 0 and then just lead them to get Sabine and Ahsoka off Peridia. He taught the rebels how to summon them back on Lothal, no reason he couldn’t do it again.
I'd say Thrawn is being more wary than afraid. He has made it a point that his one directive is to leave and all other objectives are secondary, though he is not going to pass up the opportunity to test his strategies against the apprentice of Anakin.

Baylin gives that last bit of guidance to Shin, the ‘lack of patience leads to inevitable defeats’ part.
I appreciate how Shin applied that lesson towards end of conflict with the REBELS.

...I think you might want to rewatch. You missed a lot of subtles of the acting.
He never trusted Baylan. That was obvious. He was surprised by Ahosoka not afraid of her.
Obviously, he is taking her threat seriously. That isn't fear. None of his actions are those of fear.
They are careful calculated actions which give extreme caution to Force users.
IMO, it just seems almost like you don't know what the word Fear means. He doesn't "Fear" and isn't "Terrified".

yea he's not afraid of Ahsoka more so Ahsoka was an unpredicted change on the board and as you said he was recalculating his strategy to accommodate this new information the battle itself as he called it was very fascinating to him because yea they lost but he understood the objective was not to win that battle but to escape the Planet as he said to Morgan this has bought us enough time to load up the star destroyer and flee
People usually avoid someone that seems a threat to them. That is a fear of what they might do or what that person is capable of. Now, is it safe to say that Thrawn had a little fear of Ahsoka? lol 😂

Being intelligent enough to not poke the sleeping bear more than needed isn't fear. Thrawn knows what Ahsoka is capable of, and he isn't stupid enough to risk something that he doesn't need to.

I think it's an incredibly fair assessment. Also, Lars Mikkelsen's nailed the look of fear on Thrawn's face when he realised who trained her. I'm so hyped for the season finale. Bring on Episode 8
I deduced the same thing when I watched that episode.
It makes perfect sense, I like seeing a person that understands how to deal with skilled force-users, after all those incompetently arrogant imperial commanders.
Doesn't it make more sense that he knows if he is stopped he will be here forever not so much scared of Ahsoka I think he just wants to leave after being stuck for 14 years I don't know if it is right he was taken away 2 years before bby and 7 years from ROTJ so that is at least 13 years he just wants to leave and doesn't want anyone to stop him I don't think he is afraid of anything or he would have killed Ezra already

I think your assessment is on point. He should be concerned because these are not your typical Jedi anymore who were bound by their code of ethics and behavior. Ezra, Sabine, and Ahsoka are thinking out of the box and that makes them and the unconventiality dangerous.
plus he was defeated by Ezra? who was kind of a Padawan... with a lot of weird powers but we'll just let that go... for now lol

"The Ones" Theory: Baylan is answering a call. When fully answered, he will become The Son. Ahsoka is already on path to become The Daughter. Perhaps, (already theorized by others) Anakin would be The Father. A great story arc from Filoni's Clone Wars that I would love to see rectified after the tragedy of the last chapter that left a lack of balance in the force.
I was thinking the same! Especially seeing Ahsoka the White vs Baylan and his dark armor, along with the fact that both times they fought neither side were pretty much equally matched. I would honestly love if this theory is true

Thrawn worked with Anikin and even Vader later. He knows what he's capable of and consider his skill to rival his own. So it smart to avoid her.
Thrawn can hold his own in physical combat but he knows the Jedi can just force choke him if it comes to it. How can a non force user not fear that? I love the build up of wits vs the force.
The money I’d give to witness a one time version of Ahsoka that fell to the Darkside and cast away her morality.
Or loose control just momentarily in a fit of rage after all the experiences of both Anakin/Vader, now that would be hauntingly terrifying.
That's what we needed to see BEFORE she met Anakin again in the WBW, it would've given her a perfectly good reason to need to see him, rather than the show just having her state that she fears becoming like him

I have a fun theory. Ezra didn’t want to use his old light saber because it would call him out as a wielder of the darkside. Rebels explained that sabers use energy channeled from the wielder. Meaning he would need to bleed the crystal if used. He seemed too weak in episode 7’s battle; why didn’t Thrawn take him down much earlier?

WHY does everyone keep thinking ezra has gone dark? It doesn't make sense after all of his character development in rebels and nothing in his personality now indicates any darkness in him. Him not taking back his lightsaber is nothing more than sticking to his decision to give it to Sabine. And he didn't seem weak at all. We took out many enemies and he was dominating in his fight with shin.
I don’t buy he is dark but it is in him so it is possible.
My theory is Ezra is the reason Ezra didn’t want to use his old lightsaber is that he was rusty and knew that he would get wrecked if he tried to duel with it.
The story of the rise of darth vader covering everything in between. Including what was mentioned in this video in live action would be very interesting to see.
I don't think Thrawn was terrified. But knowing she can use the Force is enough to put him on his guard. I figure that he anticipates that she'll manage to return to the Galaxy after leaving her and will make preparations for when she does. My theory for season two is that after getting an update on the galaxy and learning of Luke Skywalker, Thrawn will travel to Myrkr and collect the Ysalamiri as a means to counter Force users.

This could have been done better because he was very much aware that Anakin had an apprentice. Here's how it could have been done:
Thrawn took the datapad, read it and cocked an eyebrow.
"Ah," Thrawn said with amusement, "So this is the apprentice General Anakin Skywalker mentioned he had. ....Very interesting indeed."
Thrawn: “delay, delay, delay”.
That Ezra refused his lightsaber was irritating.
Thrawn is merely taking extra precaution, as anyone would, when regarding a Jedi worth their salt.

This is a good video. I watched another RUclipsr whos completely hating on this show and complaining about thrawn and why hes not op like in the books. Ypu explaining makes way more sense why hes not on his A game. Hes scared and hes been defeated multiple times and hes been trapped in another galaxy for a decade surviving
There is a difference between fear and respect. "Knowing" that a tiger can rip you to shreds can instill a sense of both, but those who respect the tiger simply make sure its not in a position to "use" its natural advantages... Sometimes this means "run" until it falls into one of your traps. Even if the trap doesn't neutralize the tiger, it will indeed slow it down, hopefully enough that you don't end up on its immediate nom nom list.
That being said, if Thrawn respects something, rest assured it has the potential to om nom him. And he will go out of his way to prevent this.

Thrawn has used mines at hyperspace exit points before, so this is not a new tactic for him. I do not believe he used this to destroy a Jedi, but to give him notice when they arrived. Then he could work to destroy whomever it was based on their actions. Which is what he attempted to do with the artillery barrage. At this point his strategy was to use reactive tactics to zero in and destroy Ahsoka.
Once he learned Anakin was involved in her training, his strategy changed to send a limited tactical deployment of troops towards Ahsoka's goal, Ezra. Hoping to gain a quick victory and put Ahsoka off center in hopes Baylan could finish her off.
Again, Thrawn had to adjust his strategy once this didn't work. He lost Baylan and most of his deployed resources. However, he did gain a bit of time. Thus his strategy now is to delay and evade until they can collect the rest of the Night Sister's dead, connect Thrawn's ship to the ring ship, and blast away.
Thrawn absolutely shat his pants when he read that datapad. He's shook and knows he has the grim reaper on his tail.

I loved the look he gave Morgan when he read who Ashoka's master was. Trained by Anakin Skywalker. The apprentice of the man that would become the Dark Lord.
This channel has improved quite a bit lately. More in depth analysis and less repetitive.
I think he is either just as afraid or more afraid of Baylan Skoll and his intentions. He at least knows Ahsoka's endgame. Baylan is a wild card. Irrational fear is a bad thing, rational fear is a good and healthy thing.
I don't think he feared her as much to not underestimate her knowing Anikan was her master.
Thrawn is not really scared of Ahsoka. He just analyses her. And he wants to keep her at bay He wants to escape. He doesn't want to waste time. He will use troopers,weapons,Nightsister to buy time. This is great move. These Jedi were figthing against the Empire,they were born at that time. Raised in civil war. May the Force be with you too😊

Thrawn fears Ahsoka, because in his mind being that She is Anakin's apprentice Thrawn knows that Ahsoka is more than capable of wielding both light and dark side of the force just as Anakin does and I think that is what he is most scared of that she could be just as powerful and unpredictable just as Anakin was not to mention very strategic and knows what it takes to win. But unlike her master she embodies the light she is neither light nor dark but neutral.
Thrawn should be more afraid of the abysmal accuracy of his night troopers and gunners aboard the Hyperspace Ring... all of whom fired thousands of shots at Ahsoka, Ezra and Sabine and yet failed to hit with a single one of them.
I wouldn't assume that thrawn has lost alot of troopers to Ezra after arriving. He likeky sent some after him, than stopped. As long as Ezra isnt trying to undermine Thrawn, why waste the resources when they are extremely limited
he also got showed what a slightly trained young force user can do with the force, it would be logical to deduce that an even more trained, trained by anakin, force user would be even more dangerous to him. and i would imagine for a nonforce user to experience the power of the force...could be unsettling

I would say that "fear" is not a correct word to apply to Thrawn regarding Ahsoka or the other force-sensitives; rather, he has a healthy RESPECT for the Force and its most prominent wielders in much the same manner that a zookeeper has for the pride of lions he feeds and cares for. "Fear" is not relevant to Thrawn's thinking in this case; EVERYTHING he considers is about how to best achieve his goals while preventing regrettable losses. That's not the same thing as fear- that's just Pragmatism. Thrawn is REALISTIC about the Force and its users- he knows that some can be helpful to him, others the opposite, and that he himself is somewhere in the middle being unable to perceive or directly use it himself. So, so many other Imperials were NOT realistic that way- they dismissed the Force as "that Ancient Religion" and just wrote off anybody who believed in it or tried to practice it. Thrawn is different- he KNOWS it's real. He USES it where and when he can. And he watches potential opponents who can directly use it Very, Very, Carefully. That's not Fear. That's Tactical.
It wasn't fear at all. Thrawn showed rather decisive strategy. 1st of all keep in mind during his entire exile he was not able to capture nor eliminate Ezra. Secondly by attacking the Purgil he not only exposed Ahsoka but also removed the Purgil as a means of transportation. He knows by Ahsoka fleeing from his forces that she lacks the firepower to currently challenge him and having released Sabin he was able to not only flush out Ezra but also test Balan and Shin which could have gone better were they more reliable. Having failed him they immediately became expendable removing another problem. This he managed all while achieving his only real goal which was the time he needed to prepare to leave them all behind to die in exile. Even should they manage to once again discover a means to jump galaxies by that time he would have already amassed a fleet to challenge the new Republic. In short, they are not even in his way anymore. So what is there to fear exactly?

If I was a Thrawn, someone like Ashoka would definitely make me nervous. She is well trained, powerful, has been close to death more than once, and has nothing to lose. Even the stupid Die Hard criminal knew that this combination meant someone capable of anything. Moreover, he doesn't know what all this is for. I'm not surprised at all. Thrawn is smart and prefers to avoid her rather than confront her.

When it comes to "anything" involving Anakin Skywalker, you more than likely do "not" have enough firepower to throw at him... That he trained Asokha, says much.... But then there's that realization that she survived "him....." Literally the Galaxy's greatest stalker and hunter.... Something his wife only managed to evade through dying...

Thrawns tactics are straight out of Art Of War. Defeating the enemy before even engaging them by using bluffs to distract them.
I wouldn’t say he’s afraid more like testing the waters, like in DC comic movies when Batman fights someone far more powerful than himself he’ll throw everything and the kitchen sink it them in order to test when tactics may work and what may not and I feel Thrawn is doing the same he doesn’t understand the force nor the new generation of Jedi so he’s testing to see what tactics with work on them and what won’t while also making sure he can leave without any issues, he’s playing a huge game of chess while everyone is playing checkers (also I admit I might be reading to much into this but hey whatca gonna do)

I don't think it is a genuine "fear" of Ahsoka. Thrawn's biggest success comes from his intelligence, knowledge of his enemy. And this is why I think it's not a fear, it's a state of extreme caution. He spends his time deploying countermeasures to waste Ahsokas time, not to defeat, but to flee.
Wait until he finds out Luke is Anikans son.

Yup I agree with you thrawn was smart to let them find Ezra an Sabine and fight in order to have them just wasting there time on some worthless fight , that fight gives him time to finish. The way I see things playing out in the last episode is Thrawn is able to likely just barely make his escape back to the Star Wars galaxy. By using what Baylan is doing as a distraction. I bet you Ahsoka will go after Baylan, and not having Ahsoka's backup leads to Thrawn getting away.

Ahsoka faced of general grievous and cad bane each twice before even turning 16, she also faced assajj ventress multiple times aswell as she faced the emperor and fought darth vader aswell! She went into a 2vs1 against two of the inquisitors and even humiliated them, one of the inquisitors she faced later even died and she killed one aswell so yeah with this data i would be shitting my pants two, her being trained by anikin is just the tip of the iceberg
Almost forhot she also not only defeated darth maul without a using a lightsaber for it but she also caught and imprisoned him too
