Hi Jack, that was fab, couldn't wait till the end it looked very authentic....you could have turned a pile of cannonballs with light wood!! have a good weekend. Cheers Will.
Amazing your lathe can handle such lengths!! Beautiful functioning cannon!! No doubt, you've got neighborhood weapons' superiority!! Don't mess with Jack!!
Ahh, that takes me back to my teenage engineering of weapons in dad's garage. Not the turning, that was in grandpa's wood shop. Great project, through and through!
I've been meaning to watch this video for awhile. Gotta say I found myself laughing harder and harder as the project progressed having a pretty good idea where this was going to end up. I have some large fresh cut beech tree sections I may use to make this as a front yard decoration (non-functional). Should be an interesting conversation piece when finished. Holy crap, I can't wait!
The cannon is fantastic looking. This cannon does work.Thought it was going to be for show only. But when you made the other pieces I just knew it was a working cannon. Then you showed it hitting a watermelon. You do such very very good work. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ as you can see I gave you 5 Stars in my book that is the best anyone can get. So you got 5 Stars.
@@JackMackWoodturning It's a regular old PVC potato gun stuck in a log made to look like a real, cannon ball firing, cannon. I'd say that constitutes as a model. If you build a fiberglass replica of a Ferrari chassis and popped in on top of go cart, it would drive but it'd still only be a model of a Ferrari, not a real one. Doesn't take anything away from some nice work, though!
Awesome Jack as always, you never fail to impress. Your work is very stand alone and unique. Many thanks for the uploads. Top respect from the South East of England
Fun fact. Cannons were often nade of wood in the middle ages as disposable 1 to 2 use weapons when funds were low or you needed more cannons for less silver
@@JackMackWoodturning Ah, sorry. It's morning. :P Too early for me to be alert enough for power tools. LOL I always wonder two things when I watch these. Waste: How much the wood weighs before and after. And time: How long do these things take?

Maybe I shouldn't have 'liked' this vid....It used to say 911..... A cannon? I thought the title was kidding..... Why don't you take up knitting?...lol..... Your're a funny man Jack.
That was so cool and I loved it

Отличная работа!
Sorry I have no way of translating this
Beautiful job. Except for the carriage, you’d never know it was wood. Thanks for sharing.
What do you mean? Allot of the original cannons had wooden housing didn’t they?
What I meant was, you would not know there was any wood involved if not for the carriage.
Oh right! Sorry I misinterpreted. Yeah the black worked better than I had anticipated. 😊👍🏻
Love it.
Thanks 😊

Aw, you psyched me out. In ancient times, they really did used iron banded logs as primitive canon. LOL
Nice model though.
Model ?

It’s not a model of a cannon that fires balls.. it’s is a cannon that fires potato’s.
That thing is huge 👍 Nice piece of work, you can a lot of hours spent building it. I can imagine hours of entertainment playing with it now. Great job
Thanks A. It was a fun project for sure 😊👍🏻

To shoot things 🤷♂️ 🤣😊👍🏻
Ok, you made a cannon that shoots a potato. But can you make a cannon that can shoot a watermelon!!!
CHALLENGE!!
🤣 I’ll add it to the list. 👌🏻
...ok...so...I'm blown away...massively impressive!!!
But I have to ask...whatever possessed you to turn and assemble a cannon???
I mean why not right?
Great Job . Now dont let the feds get you . Ha Ha .

I want one please.
Not for sale I’m afraid. I’d probably be arrested as an arms dealer 🤣

Different! Not my favorite but still amazing. How long does it take you to plan out your projects?
I just do it on the fly mostly

not proper wood turning though is it? I mean, it's not a bowl or snowman or even a gonk...😁 Amazing work 👍
What a waste of time and good material.
What do you feel was wasteful about the video and most importantly how would you have better use said materials ?
@@JackMackWoodturning Each to their own I guess. Where I live hard wood costs a small fortune so one tends to use it very judiciously.
