For anyone who can’t successfully split the file, you can use this link to get a zip containing the split files: drive.google.c.... Just copy the files inside onto your USB after formatting and it will be bootable.

OMIGAWD! I was trying everything, with no success, and losing sleep and getting crazy trying to create this bootable Windows 10 USB from my Mac to have a way to resurrect my husband's recently demised Lenovo (following the most recent Windows update--Thanks, Microsoft!). Your instructions were VERY clear, easy to follow, and even though I had a bit of a time installing Homebrew (totally on me and my sleep deprivation), I got it to work and created the Windows 10 bootable USB. When you boot up the custom pc for the first time, do you just have to click the SETUP.EXE files, or was it easy to setup on the custom pc after plugging the usb

Hi Theo, I did everything to a tee, but when I tried to install windows on my pc, it says "windows could not collect information for osimage install.wim". What do I do?

Doing everything you did and typing everything in that you typed, all I end up with is "command not found: wimlib". What am I missing here? This seems like it shouldn't be this difficult for me.
Did you make sure homebrew successfully installed wimlib?

Under disk utility
The “Format: Ms-DOS (FAT)” option isn’t available on my Mac. I only see APFS (encrypted, case-sensitive, etc).
How do I get through here?

Hold command and click on the file you want to deselect

When I type in ‘brew install wimlib’ it says command not found? What am I doing wrong?

Doesnt windows support exFat, wouldnt we avoid all of this hassle by just formating the USB to exFat?

Other bulletin boards were stating software purchase was necessary (to create a bootable disk from a Mac) and your video proves it clearly untrue. When i put brew install wimlib it shows command not found
You have to install Homebrew. Go to their website (brew.sh) and follow the instructions.

Why does the usb need to be in Fat 32 on Mac?
You can try using exFat, but I've only seen it working with FAT32, I haven't tried exFat.

Hi! thanks for the tutorial, i manage to install home-brew but i'm having a problem with the installation of wimlib. when i write the command "brew install wimlib" the terminal says that such a command not found. Help please! thank you so much
you have to follow the steps after the homebrew installation command is executed it was “x” something and then you just follow the instructions on the terminal

i put it in the macbook and startet it with fn+control+option+command+power but i dont see the windows stick or some other medium?

Ive tried to boot my new laptop but it tells me "Windows cannot open the required file: instal.swm" is there anything i can do to fix it?
Try using the link in the pinned comment instead of splitting the files and make sure the drive is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT).

if you stuck in the installation set up process, try to make terminal code ended with 3800 instead of 4000 :)
I downloaded the windows 10 32 bit iso from Microsoft problem is the install.wim file is only showing 3.7gb do I have to still split this cause it’s under 4gb

Hmmm. Windows 7 is out of support. It's hard to obtain official genuine ISOs. Also do you mean boot or make the USB?

After trying to split the wim file, I get “Some uncommon options are not listed; see ‘man wimsplit’ for more details. What can I do to solve this?
I fixed this, but now when I boot up my pc it says no existing install.wim. However I do see it on my USB..
