Nice video. Been watching all other videos and all are very informative. Thinking I maybe able to tackle the headgasket for parents 1996 previa. They don’t want to get rid of it so been looking into doing the possible head gasket.
Last week found a puddle of coolant underneath engine found coolant leaking out of flex pipe as soon as the car sits for 10min, previously replaced radiator cap, water pump, t-stat, and one hose to t-stat housing. Is this a sign the head gasket is bad especially leaking through exhaust manifold not making past to cat because leaking at flex pipe. Thanks
It sounds like you do have a problem. Check your spark plugs for sighs of water and your compression PSI. If any of your plugs are wet from water or you have bad compression it would be time to have the head gasket replaced.

I realized it afterward. After a coffee break, I went back and redid the job. The intake manifold gasket was installed.
I can’t seem to remove the timing cover there’s something holing on it on by bottom by crank seal
Some that have been on for many years can be very difficult to remove.
Would you recommend rebuilding the engine or swapping in a used JDM engine?
That comes down to cost and time. Rebuilt is always the better option.
Previa 1995 hs black/grey smoke when i gas it hard.Why? What is the remedy
First check for error codes. Your running rich and you need to find out why. Top of my mind it could be O2 sensor, Dirty MAF, Dirty or faulty injectors, Cold Start Injector or old spark plugs and leads. pore spark can lead to bad fuel burn. Also check for air leaks. I faulty read of air intake can also be a problem. Hope that helps.
Can engine bearings be replaced when the engine is still in the van?
Not that I have heard of anyone doing. I have thought about giving that a go myself one day.
