    Great video. Can you do a tutorial on how to scan to a home folder (network drive) for each user on the domain? The file server where the individual home folders are located is a separate server from the domain controller.

    Good video. Typically when setting up templates, it’s easier to just shove the Template icon on the screen so people don’t have to look for the Template button at the very top. The newest boxes released this year will be slightly different as they’re “folders” instead of templates.

    Thank you! Great video :) The only thing that didn't work for me was the setup of the template in the "public template Groups" so I set it up under the "useful template" and it works just as well! Thanks again and I am sure this video will help more people with a toshiba copier!

    Most of these options are available in Win 11, but I would hesitate to enable all of them. Most people would only need to enable network discovery and file and printer sharing for Private Networks. Doing more than that opens you up to exploitation from devices that are not a part of your private network.
    Likewise, it is a good idea to enable password based sharing if you can in order to prevent unauthorized use of your printers.
    Finally, change the default admin password on your printer to a complex one, and use it to update your printer firmware regularly or you could really be in trouble if the printer is compromised and used as a pivot point for other cyber attacks.
    Be prepared to replace your printer if it uses out of date networking or authentication protocols and they cannot be disabled: (sign in as an admin and dig around to see if they are present, or print off a configuration page to see if they are listed: (SMB below v3, WEP instead of a complex wifi password, SSL, un-edited TLS 1.2 or lower versions etc.)

    Has anyone scanned to a NAS device (Synology) using the eStudio? We have a 3418 with built-in scanner. I think if the copier is saving the scan to a file and then saving to the SMB shared folder, there shouldn't be any handshaking issues with scanning, it will just drop a file to a location.

    I have done this procedure several times, and it works. But, I have to come here and reset it every time. Am I missing something? Why doesn't it save the settings?

      no, i have no idea why it isn't saving it. never had that happen to me nor have i ever heard of such a case..... sorry i can't help you further. might be a firmware issue, controller issue, etc. not clue

    I believe I am setup properly. When I hit the Execute button it connects and passes test. When I go on the Toshiba 5018a Copiers I see my name but I do not get get the SCAN button. Any ideas on this?

      only thing i can think of is you're not looking at the right section or you didn't set up the templete correctly. if you think you did, i would first start with a firmware update then the fun begins with troubleshooting....

    I have Toshiba E-Studio 2830C The problem I have, when in the TopAccess under Save as File- Remote 1 I can not click on both "Allow the following network folder to be used as a destination" as well as "Allow User to select network folder to be used as a destination" Only one or the other. Please advise

    Do I need to an Ethernet cable to do it or I can do it through the printer cable only? Because I don't have a network it's only the printer and the PC

      Depends on what you mean by printer cable. Worst case all you need to do is buy a small hub, like a 4-port hub, and connect the copier to it as well as your computer to that

    ive completed all steps, wont work. I test the settings by hitting execute and i get this message "failed to connect, check the following settings, network path, login user name, password

      This is when troubleshooting comes into play and can either be easy or very time consuming. Might be something on your windows computer blocking it. my only advice is to try a different computer and go from there. might require a IT specialist to come onsite and troubleshoot your pc. good luck

    Hi, thanks for the video. i have a problem, when i create a template i can not choose the format JPEG. when i click save it just goes back to PDF(multi) any idea how to fix this?

      when you're creating a template you will see a section called "Save as File Setting" there you can choose what file format you want. if you don't see an option for JPEG your specific model may not offer that or your firmware needs to be updated. Good luck.

    I am logged in as admin but it will not let me click on any of the templates. They are white boxes instead of grey and it says above the templates: please log in as administrator to edit public templates. Any thoughts?

      sounds to me you are not logged in as admin.

      this is when troubleshooting comes into play. there can be many different reasons outside of the copier causing this.....

      access what? your folder? if you are wanting to share your folder, of course your computer has to be on and connected to your network. How else will they find it?

      so sorry haven't had to do that in many years..... I suggest reading the operators manual and search language/s that's where I would start researching it myself. Good luck!

      @@abeljonrodolfo4418 yes. I never have to go in and change it. Try changing it from the copier itself. Log on as admin and under general settings check if you see a language option.

      @@abeljonrodolfo4418 wow, not sure what that means. might be firmware related..... i would need to be onsite to troubleshoot further....might be best to call a toshiba certified dealer to come out and further troubleshoot and possibly update firmware....sorry!
