- There's nothing quite like the sensation of taking a huge 150 foot drop and feeling the coaster continue accelerating as it speeds up to over 66 mph down the straightaway.
Six Flags St. Louis is located near St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri.

i dont understand people sometimes, the boss is by far one of the best coasters ive been on, the jidder jadder is what makes wood coasters unique, it doesnt need to change one bit
People are wimps man.
Boss used to be my favorite ride but now it's so violently rough to the point it's not even fun. I really hope that one day it will receive a GCI retracking like Ghost Rider.
Ikr
Or better yet, give it a RMC Hybrid makeover and dub it......THE NEW BOSS!!!😉
Nah just man up
This wouldn't be so bad with retracking and timber liners.
this is the meanest, roughest, roller coaster I have ever ridden. never again!
You know what would be funny? If another park somewhere made an LIM launched coaster with this name. (The Boss just fired you out of his station! Get it?)
ABBAbeth the hamster good one. I'm so proud of you.
Probably my favorite wooden coaster, rough as hell.
Miles Jackson it's probably your favorite wood coaster now but you'll totally change your mind once you've tried the outlaw run at silver dollar city. Don't get me wrong the boss is my favorite ride at six flags but it just can't compare to outlaw run
Always make this the last roller coaster you get on. I was super dizzy after this ride
So long. So painful. So worth it.
Dude this thing looks amazing!
From what I've read, the Boss was significantly re-tracked over the winter. I've also saw where somebody rode it soon after opening day and confirmed it was relatively smooth.
WOW fantastic ride, thanks
The Boss is my fave ride! its super ruff but its also TERRIFYING the first time you ride it!! its one of the best rides there!
i love this ride its being re-tracked more this off-season it was running amazing in 2010 no pain at all it always runs better at the beginning of the season tho... anyone lucky enough to ride it when they put eagles trains on there? they only did it once.
@RodneyBernett2O11 I know! the feeling of the front cars pulling you forward is awesome
You can literally feel your brain yanking on your brainstem as it flies around in your skull
Looks a lot similar to the terminator salvation coaster at six flags magic mountain in LA...for sure watching it makes it seem like it's not that bad, but when you actually ride it, it's the most thrilling and intense experience you could ask for.
one of the best wooden coasters in the country in my opinion
*ME* I will totally go on this!!!
*ME WHEN I GET THERE* I will stick to the mine train!!
Lol
Bro that was me all the way when I went last October trust me I wasn't getting anywhere near this ride
I went back again in June last summer. Still didn't go on.
The 1st hill is amazing if you sit in the back. . .
This coaster is great, even if it's pretty rough. I remember when it first opened, and it was regarded as being very smooth for a wooden roller coaster. But the last 17 years havn't been too kind to it. Like others have said, it needs new cars and needs to be re-tracked. I believe it did get some repairs about two years ago which helped smooth it out a little bit, but it could use a total re-track. Hopefully Six Flags invests in it before too long.
i went on that when i was ten and that was effin pain full but so EPIC! its awesome!!
Super master of speed I loved it
Going there for a school field trip can't wait....
Front Seat= AMAZING!!!
This is my favourite wooden roller coaster
I will be there on saturday!! this is the one of the first ones im going to ride
great ride
Whoa. I really wanna ride this it looks SOOO FUN!
i have never rode it but from what i heard it is rough as hell (sry for replying to a 5 yr old comment)
this ride is so much fun... i went on it like 11 times last time i was there
WOW you must be super human!
Looks like a damn fun ride.
+jimthar17 Extremely fast and painfully rough.
LUV THIS but the line is forever
El Toro is built by Intamin who were already making ultra smooth woodies by 2001 (Colossos, Heide Park), only a year after this was built.
Its an amazing ride. But yes, much like others have said, its very rough. I actually popped my hip out hitting the side of the car. But I still ride it everytime i go.
@hobbyguy99 I went on this yesterday & it pulls you incredibly fast on the 1st hill if you sit in the back . . . That's why I think wooden coasters are the best . . . lol
best wooden layout ever
in my opinion, making a wooden roller coaster is the best possible use for trees on this Earth. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
it was freaking the fastest and longest coaster I have been on!! and made me the sickest I have ever been on a coaster...I threw up and spun for several hours after riding....wow!
This. Looks. Like. Effing. FUN!!!!!! That is all.
I was there yesterday and the drops hurt your belly
I rode this at night! It's cool when you are riding rollercoasters and you can't see where the heck you're going!
This ride is great. If you sit in the back, it feels like you are coming off the tracks on the first hill :)
dude! I have to go now!
like a boss
At night, its even more EPIC
Matt Bouwman one of the best night rides ever
I went on that at fright feast last month I was dying I bumped my head on the first drop
The girl at 1:44 just about sums up my experiences with this ride.
I rode this roller coaster!!! It was awesome and little bit scary XD but i enjoyed it!!!!
This ride is rough as hell. To newcomers or to others who want to try this again, I cannot stress this enough, SIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAIN. I'm not sure why exactly but the roughness is reduced significantly if you sit as close to the center as possible. Great ride otherwise, they should really consider improving it however.
Its gotten better. I remember back in the day i would knock teeth out. Also was on it once and the first lift stopped.
nate ivey That's good to know that it's gotten better, I'll be headed to the park in about a week. I hope the lift doesn't stop for me, never seen that happen in person for Boss.
Yeah. I just recently went to the park. I love the boss but I can only handle one ride on it. When I get off, I have a headache. It is a great ride but tough
GZilla2010 you think this is rough!?!? Try the grand national
BEST frigging RIDE EVER!
NO frigging WAY (this is over 10 years damn sry for replying in this type of old comment but still no way is that good lmao)
The boss is a real boss
Oh goodness. That coaster is rough, even for a woodie!
1:41, thats my favorite part of The Boss
The ride was scary I went on it
nice
The ruffer it is more fun it is lol
J Laski thats what she said. he he
i heard that its ruffer than pre rebuilt mean streak wich i tried. I need to visit this some day
the roughest roller coaster I have ever ridden!
unfortunately it's as close as st louis will ever get to a hyper coaster :(
When I was about 9 I went on this and OMG IT WAS HORRIBLE I let go of the bar and I was flying everywhere and my aunt couldn't get ahold of me and I started crying and I had to crawl out
this coaster is boss XD
This ride needs some iron horse reconstruction i should call rocky mountain construction right freakin now!
Are you sure just regular retracking won't work? Cedar Fair parks do it all the time.
+ABBAbeth the hamster Well Six Flags is "special".
Nicholas Moctezuma NO
Let's just call GCI to re-track this. It will probably become awesome like Ghostrider did.
i don't know what to say ,,, that's very insane ! hahaha
I'm going sometime soon. I'm scared now. O.o
Looks scary but I'd probably go on it
This is the roughest coaster i have ever been on in my life. Even rougher then the white roller coaster at Lagoon in Ut.
Until i ride a Vekoma SLC.
BBroCuber you haven't rode the screamin eagle then
The screaming eagle is rough but not as rough as the boss.
"Until I ride a Vekoma SLC"
*Laughs in Thunderhawk*
well uhh good luck on t3 (never rode it thank god)
This is the only rollercoaster I have ever rode. OMG it was fun but so scary and I don't really like rollercoasters now
El Toro was put into operation six years after Boss did. Roller coaster designers had more time to make El Toro better.
HOLY S***
I WENT ON THAT YESTERDAY!!!
MemeMaria still here?
looks like it could be sooo good if it was actually smooth! but it's not smooth
Wouldn't it make sense for six flags to bring in a ride where scooby doo is, and then also at the same time renovate the boss into an RMC like they are doing at MM? That would be my guess, bc last year they brought in tsunami soaker so why would the only just put in a thrill ride or a family/kid ride where scooby doo was?
I heard this ride was rough, but it ended up being nearly as bad as Mean Streak. It's brutal, and the complete lack of airtime doesn't help either.
This is the only rollercoaster I've e er r
Try riding it and having your friend laugh at your facials. Haha!
@XxSarah1337Xx Err... no. The chain lift definitely comes first.... ;-)
This ride is begging to get RMC’d.
did the ride look kind of bumpy when people rode it?
Sucks the double helix is gone. That and the first drop are the only parts I thoroughly enjoyed.
the midcourse practically stops you now too, no more ejector on those hills behind the station
R! M! C! R! M! C! Iron horse treatment for Boss, 2015, coasterforce?
God my neck is still sore from riding that!
Mortadda (JOKE) Is it still sore?
I have riddent roller coasters all over the U.S. and I have to say The Boss is the wildest, roughest roller coaster I have ever ridden. There were times I seriously thought I would be thrown from the ride. A WILD experience that I am not sure I want to experience again. How the heck do you rate that???
JB, I had the same experience just last week. While the run of the ride was a blast, I truly felt rocked and my neck hurt because it was so rough. I've ridden plenty of wood coasters in my day and I don't think I want to ride this again.
I agree with both of you. I have never been on such a rough roller coaster. There was no point and time where I was not in pain on this ride. After I got off I told my friend who rode with me that I would never get on this ride again. Something has to be done to it to make it smoother.
To all, it would be interesting to see if Six Flags turned this into a steel rail on wooden coaster like it did in Arlington an San Antonio. Maybe then it could become enjoyable. Otherwise, I will never ride it again.
I live near it and rode it today it has changed a bit scence coaster force posted this. Now theres a tunnle at the end of the first drop and the chain lift is a bit higher so the turn drop is faster
The Wildcat at Herhsey Park beats the shit out out you as well
If you are scared to get on it and are watching this because you are debating it, get on the American thunder, if you can ride the American thunder you can ride this, the bumps are not that bad, just 2 days ago I wouldn’t go near a roller coaster besides the mine train, I said fuck it and got on the American thunder, said fuck it got on the pandimonium said fuck it and I decided to get on the Batman, then yesterday I was debating the boss and as I was walking up to get on out of the corner of my eye I saw Vladimir Tarasenko and Ivan Barbashev (nhl players from the blues) I waved and then I was hyped and got on and I loved it, this ride is awesome u just have to do it, it’ll be over before u decide u hate it.
No I feel like throwing up just watching this
Six flags at Lois needs some more steel coasters
JWilD there's only 4 wooden coasters 3 technically because minetrain is steel on top of wood
im upset that the helix is gone
rip double helix
This girls did the same scream on the first drop as they did on your other video of this ride.🤔
Paul Johnson plot twist it's the same girl
My favorite woody! ^^
this ride needs a BRM the name will be the iron boss
Lol you mean RMC
+Rock&Roll_Pat k
Why does every one thing putting iro in front of everything a good name it sounds tacky
This roller coaster is absolutely MISERABLE! It was so long, and so EXTREMELY ROUGH! It took it's place at the BOTTOM of my list of roller coasters I've ridden! I wish they'd done a RMC Iron Horse treatment to this instead of taking out the Scooby Doo ride to make way for the Justice League ride.
at least this is not son of beast or something else from rcca
my sis is riding this tomorrow
Correction: your sis rode this 10 months ago
+Fergy328 Correction: It was going to be tomorrow when he typed that comment.
Thelonestargamer123 your sis rode this 3 years ago.
So that's where the rain forests went! Man that's a lot of wood, but more importantly looks a whole lot of fun.
This ride. Needs. Timberliners.
+Leonardo Bruzzone this ride. Needs. RMC
+João Spegiorin noooooo just a little retracking and new trains
+Kevon He well, it worked in LA, so this is a possibility also
+João Spegiorin Hey im not a coaster guy but what is RMC
Rocky Mountain Construction. It's a company that transforms rough wooden coasters into great roller coasters. They also build brand new roller coasters
went to six flags today and i thought it was a scary as the batman but im only 10 so that why
Are the rumors true that The Boss is being remoded for the 2015 park seson????
is it getting the RMC treatment?
Nope. Rumors debunked with announced closure of Scooby Doo: Ghostblasters.
This boss, has infinite hit points O_o
(Y)
Imagine if this got the rmc treatment.
+Christian the Coaster Guy Please no. One of the best layouts out there, it just needs new trains, not a new layout.
+Xtrovid that's true. It is the same thing with Wildcat at hersheypark. It just needs retracking.
needs new track
it just needs newer tracks is all, even then its perfect the way it is
The Gank Fox yes, a little re-profiling wouldn't hurt either to give you a little more airtime, sort of like what happened to ghost rider.
I got on it.its bumpy.my brothers hat flew off and somehow the guy behind us caught it
for real? I saw the exact same thing happen on a ride on this!
Lyric Brown thats generally why people dont wear hats on rollercoasters lol
The boss is way to jerky for me I rode it one time and not again
