The company's engagement at the opera house in Los Angeles had two weeks to run, but Oriann Danotti, whose beautiful voice was largely responsible for the success of the tour, had other things on her mind. Oriann was no longer thrilled by the curtain going up. She was not new to the music world, and moreover, when she allowed herself, she could feel the years inside. She didn't allow this often, of course, and certainly it was not being displayed at the moment with Charles beside her, quietly reassuring, Oriann found it a simple matter to face the anger of the impresario Julio Cassi.
