'la la la having a nice day, oh! aliens and cars and a squirrel with a gun....' then back to 'la la la having a nice day'... this one here was more polished and linear... but still filled with the fun mis-remembered history stories. i've always enjoyed those! you've got that friend who thinks they know historical events; but sounds just like Eddie! you're sitting or standing or leaning there thinking to yourself, 'alot sounds right... but frankly it is all wrong!' you've got to bite your tongue and not snicker or laugh or correct your friend. but with Eddie, that's his job! you CAN laugh at him! :D just don't heckle him. ;> Eddie still can't figure out vitamins, minerals, calories, and all that printed on labels. :D hehah! mhm i remember those bits. plus sprinkling in other old bits he's used before.
The statements are absolutely correct. I think that somewhere along the way he lost something of his spontaneity and somehow I think he has a slightly more technical crew, which polishes his stand-up programs or subjects them to not exactly objective checks. The world of the show is strange sometimes.

Correct. It seems a bit blasé or routine here, based on the jokes and the old script. But it's ok...for those who know him. Here the show seems to be distilled a bit too much.
The rabbit was checking to see if the butcher had nails, as the butcher had said he would nail the rabbit's ears to the wall if he asked for carrots again. The rabbit was smart enough to check if he would be safe....before obtusely asking if the butcher had any carrots, again. Still good though I think when one’s life experiences are less humorous or challenged by the ego to succeed & focus it makes a difference. I think it comes from trying to tie in things that are relevant to Eddie’s life, yet it kind of jumps from living comedy brilliance to track star athlete, which is somewhat funny but VERY NICHE in terms of audience relevance. The BRILLIANCE of his success comes from OUTing EVERYONE’s collective conscious, then sweeping into Westerm-Judea-Christian religious, to PoPular culture- which works for MASSES+. Today’s so divided by personal/political identity selfies that COLLECTIVISM has gone a bit underground- even here as seen with Eddie’s work (athleticism focus). This isn’t a critical dig, I think it’s just partly the zeitgeist. It’s always a bit of laughs when Eddie’s on stage & I think it’s ok to keep integrating one’s self into one’s work; so we’ll see where it goes. 🪭
I've loved Eddie Izzard for actual decades, but what's up with the canned laughter?! I've been to this place and it's not very big. They even make a point about it being a 'back to the roots' situation. Why are there constant ripples like it has been recorded on an episode of 'Live at the Apollo'?! At times you can hear the genuine laughter in the room - it's stark and sparse because the audience is deliberately small. I just don't get it.
I didn’t get that feel it felt like genuine connections happening. Small rooms tend to amplify mic recordings when it’s set for a mic “up front” & not through a bigger theater/arena PA system. (Speaking as an actual Live Sound Reinforcement Engineer:)
