Ahoy…appreciate your inviting us to enjoy your conversations and enticing tours of this imagineered sailing-diesel yacht (motor sailor) which is every sea-lovers thought-whisperer!
Two things…a drawer for placements of “pearls and your wallet” comment…stoped me from all reality!
Secondly…entering a port IS ALWAYS “mystical” after tying-up or anchored! 4:26 That is the “sensory experience in our souls giving us basic-achievement thoughts and enjoying our satisfaction in the cockpit of heaven’s travelers”!
Thank you all so much for a wonderful way to enjoy a weekend together with your friends who understand your experiences with bumps and bruises, being related guts to help people who understand the lessons and how they are always looking at your safety concerns-and comfortable living. With human lives as you can imagine, what is they’re looking to be thoughtful of and especially with your family members and friends!!! Slk ❤🎉😅

Walter is the real deal. When my bro in law was looking to buy a Shannon ( at the suggestion of Nat Benjamin who advised my sister and bRo in law that it was the boat to look at if you wanted a classic wooden boat but couldn’t afford to keep one) I accompanied him to Rhode Island ( and other places ) to look at a boat and visit the Shannon boat yard . Walter spent a good hour talking to us about sailboats and Shannon’s. A meeting with that man is not forgotten. His down to earth and gracious personality and great humor? He’s a gem. The BIL bought a Shannon 38 and she is a beauty - a reflection of her designer !

Captain Q, this is the best video yet and it will become a piece of yacht building history. Seeing you and Walter talk about sailing and the history that you've both seen is priceless. This boat, if still for sale, is the biggest bargain of them all. If I were rich I'd buy it and rent it to you and Walter for a dollar to take across the pond and give it a good year long shakedown cruise to Europe and beyond. This is way more boat than anyone like me even dreams of but I can see the twinkle in your eye and his when you talk about going for an extended cruise. Thank you and Ran-day for this video, this is how history can be preserved for generations to come. 👍👍👍

Usually when a boat is not to my taste I enjoy the episode but come out thinking 'eh' about the boat, but not this one, this one is awesome for its proper target audience (the Captain. Captain Q is the audience). Granted, that's also a lot to do with Walter. I just love hearing that man talk about anything, you guys getting him onboard these past few episodes has been incredible. I would be persuading him to become a digital nomad and if he was worried about health issues.. the nice guys at UK Atlantic marine in Cornwall have built not just the impossible dream but a Daz cat with a highspeed wheelchair landingcraft tender for the explorer owner... 🤯😂
The other option i would consider in a vessel this well thought outs construction these days would be the use of basalt
And or Hemp fiber in the construction. Reduce wt add strength.
Basalt for its incredible resilience to abrasion and impact resistance its also impervious to most chemicals water, temp and none conductive..
Its cheaper than E glass and a natural common igneous rock.
Depending on the resins its also highly recyclable.
Built thick at the bow and waterline its capable of dealing with growler ice even 😎
Hybrid power systems mean you can regen while under sail ..
Hybrid Photo Voltaic panels produce double max power...hot water and last much much longer..
The ketch rig is an ideal place to fly a FLIN solar panel sail while at anchor or becalmed.

Tony & susan here, I have recently become a fan of Shannon yachts. It is a bit out of my price range. Really love this boat!

Wowza, Impressive! Ran Day since Walter was so unpleased with the drip less propeller shaft system on your boat did you find out what he used in this boat?

I recommend the addition of a rating to your boats. Please assign a number value to reflect each of 1) number of man hrs to reasonably restore the boat, 2) number of man hrs reqd for annual maintenance with standard tools and facility (boat yard) per year. These would make the water that much clearer.

At first I worried that your video would end before the tour, but then I see 50 minute video, so that should be enough time. Beautiful boat, well thought out. The only draw back is it's a tad bit more than I have. Ok, it's a lot more than I have, but that doesn't mean I cant admire it.

Breast line... New one. I learn something new every time I watch a Capt Q, or Ran Day video! Every inch of that vessel had a design consideration. The foot stool probably started out as a space that couldn't be used since the back of the other chair was there, so why not design in a foot stool. They like to chill their wine.

      Pretty certain:
hat contains microspheres and is used as a thin core (bulker mat) or print blocker (liner) in fiber reinforced laminates, manufactured in Hand Lay-Up or Spray-Up processes. Coremat should always be fully impregnated with resin.
