Struggling to see why any of the boats Sailing Atticus have been looking at in the $200-250K range (most recently Valiant 42) are twice the boat this is.
Yes ,also since they started on such a low budget they know the value of money,$200K+ and $$maintenance is LOTS of money when RUclips might screw you tomorrow.
You should take Captain Q not too serious when he tells us that the boat is in a perfect condition. In a 1984 sailboat you have to renew basically everything if you want to do more than coastal sailing. Take the Cal 40 which Captain Q inspected earlier on and then watch the Restauration of a Cal 40 on the great old boats channel. The Restauration costs more than a new boat. Attics is fed up with those project boats that’s why they wanted a newer one - you always get what you pay for.
@@Isimud I agree with your points too, Jot Be - that most of the old boats are simply worn out and require a year or two (and tens of thousands of dollars) to rebuild. I once bought a wood 42 cutter for $30 K but after two years of rebuilding I had $65K in it - would have been cheaper and easier to have just looked for a boat in the $65K price range and let someone else do all the work! Still, it's hard to part with $250K for a 40 - 42' sailboat.

Cowes is the capital of world sailing!
110k for a 40 year old boat is steep new paint or not
Wow, another great yacht, didn't hear it but to me it looked larger than 44'! Maybe it was Ran-day's excellent camera work.
Glad you enjoyed it just 44'
@@YachtHunters Thank you for the reply Captain! Perhaps one day we can get a video montage of PB, along with some specs of her.
Newport! Wow. What a place. Drop dead gorgeous and home of so many sailing families. History and culture.
I’ll take the Hans Christian 38 next to it, thank you very much! 😊
The lined drawer looks perfect for silverware or utensils. Hearing them banging around while underway would drive me nuts. That might muffle the noise?
good suggestion but maybe in a powerboat but not in the gentle womb of a sailing yacht now if they are sterling pieces that might be appropriate thank you
Whether sterling, or, ahem, plate, that is a drawer meant for tableware. You are likely to find the same in almost any butler’s pantry, silver chest or sideboard. The concern is not noise but reducing tarnish and fratricidal scratching.
@@DavidHHermanson I've never heard of "fratricidal" used in that way.
Definitely a nice boat. It was nice back in 1984 and it still is. Value for money. Thanks for showing this big old beauty.
I own an Alden 44 that's currently on the Great Lakes. Great video and I can attest to your complimentary commentary. It's all spot on!!
Is she still on the market?
