In city limits, you actually dont even need to break with back brakes at all tho. :D Front is more than enough, and on tarmac, back brakes are the dangerous ones, but new bikers for some reason are afraid of front for some reason.

Totalled my ass. I saw and experienced worse and only hurt the fairings and some covers at most alongside with a mirror and indicator. I call BS here
If the dude went through insurance (which is HIGHLY likely), they probably quoted OEM fairings which can easily be $3,000. Factor in a possible rearset and/or clip on, that could be $700 based on parts and labor calculation the adjustor made. Most insurance also covers your gear in an accident. So, let's just say $600 helmet and $450 jacket. The MSRP on the R7 is $9,200. Insurance probably saw roughly $5K in damages and said "Total it out". Happens WAY more than you think. Want proof? Go watch RKMotorsports. He literally buys bikes like this and rebuilds them.

It depends on the damage, often there's damage you don't see (esp from the comfort of behind your computer screen). Often bikes will flip, and/or slide a decent distance after a high side. That causes damage to clutch housings, radiators, forks, wheels, discs. If hard enough, bent tail frames, swingarms and even broken out bolts in the alloy of the frame, motor and swingarms. All adds up quickly (esp to an insurance assessor). I say this as it's my experience as a mechanic, and as the unwilling participant in a "highside" when a driver cut me off as she entered the road I was traveling down. Only doing about 40 kph (25mph), I managed to avoid the car around it's tail, but the bike flipped when the rear locked on some gravel in the centre of the intersection, then started to turn again when it hit good road.
Completely smashed the clutch casing, bent the forks, swingarm, bars, twisted the subframe, stuffed the radiator, stuffed both pipes. Add that to the plastics (minimal, it was a Kawaskai Z1000 "naked") lights, mirrors, my helmet, the jacket hey cut off (broken collar bone, still out of shape and 2" short on that side after 15 years)
If it was a simple "low side" you might get away with what you describe, but not a decent "high side"

@@hairyham2862 it’s not the fact that what the biker could have done it’s more the fact that despite the biker not moving back to let them in the car driver still forced themselves in. So I’ll say again if your take on it is that please don’t drive. Myself I would drop back but it’s not a requirement for the bike to do so. It’s more of a courtesy.
Also commenting on my driving. You know nothing about it. I have been trained a lot higher than most of the general public.
And in response to Aiden. The training I’ve had makes me a lot safer than the general public.

10:25 locks the rear brake and highsides. But this was a very simple stop, you'll definitely encounter harder ones. Just sell the bike and get ABS.
Don't even need ABS. Just don't slam on your brakes. Learned that on day on in the riders course. Don't use your front brake in a corner and don't just grab/slam the brakes. Squeeze them.
@@LinkFelton Yes, they teach this, but in the video you see that the rider has to make a very simple stop and has plenty of time to do so. He still fails to brake correctly, hammers the rear brake and goes down. Clearly this rider needs help.
Also, there's nothing wrong with using the front brake in a corner, I do this all the time. The only difference is that in a corner, it's a lot more important to brake smoothly.

Even cars like that pickup smoking it's tire in the video. My car too and it's modern with pretty much the best suspension setup you can get (you'll outdo a lot of exotic cars on the track in the twisties, its phenomenal on the RX-8, though I even load balance my car when I buy groceries because you can tell the difference even with 100 pounds because any disturbance and it goes from perfection to just super good.

The difference is that if a bike crashes into a car the only biker gets hurt but if a car crashes into a bike they could kill the biker

I do realize that all bikers aren’t road devils, but a great many of them are. Therefore it’s kind of hard to have any sympathy for them.
