      Should help me get a Whyte T160 S to Netherlands. I know strange location for an MTB...

      @@cloud-bytes Netherlands are super specific - from potentially as low as 10m of elevation in 100km, to extremely flowy trails!! Never been there, but know few from NL!

    Thanks for the video 👍🏽, any updates on the bag? Any regrets? I noticed that you didn’t take off the derailleur and brake rotors. Have you ever had any issues with any damage to bike during flights.

      Hey James, thanks! In last two years I had 10+ flights - zero issues, no damages, nothing.
      Disc rotors has their own compartment on side pockets (more rigid area to protect them). For derailleur - it is a good notice. However, when wheels are added into luggage, basically there is no room for something to go wrong there - maybe it could be ideally duct taped to prevent from free movement. Other than that - no concerns there.

      @@tom10crafted thanks very much for the reply. I’ve ordered the bag…. Also did you have to let air out of your shock and fork? Do you recall what the bag weighed with bike. I’m hoping to keep under 50lbs for most airlines. I will travel with my large Santa Cruz Blur XC

      @@jamesturner9858 I never remove air from suspension, keeping it as is. With tires - I reduce it a bit, but not totally flat. It also helps a great deal when adding 2.4 tires into compartments - I guess 2.5 would be absolute limit for proper insertion.
      In regards to weight, bag is bit shy under 10kg, with bike it is about 21kg. The main annoying factor is if some airlines allows 25kg limit (majority in europe 32kg, thankfully)
      So with 32kg, you are free to add extras like shoes, apparel, etc. With 25kg limit, you have to wiggle around more:)

      @@tom10craftedjust wanted to say thanks again. I took my first flight and had to reference back to this video to pack my bike. Thanks for the details. Everything went smooth. Was nervous but was fine. I hope it goes as smooth going home! Thanks again

    What about wheel spokes safety, looks like no protection there from side kicks...

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted  2 года назад

      Those plastic tubes added into side po pocket tightens the cover itself, plus, when the wheel is added, the outside of the bag stretches making it tight - thus it looks pretty stiff.
      On the other hand, I won’t love to see how airport staff puts everything into the airplane 😅😅🙏🤞🏻

      Road/MTB most certainly yes. The rule of thumb to check is wheelbase distance - bag's allowance is 130cm.

    Great video (been watching a few of yours) Had a couple of questions as I have the same bag and just got a Scott Spark too.
    When you remove the handlebar (and replace) how do you keep the headset tight?
    Do you have and use 2 boost rings for the front adapter or just 1?

    • @tom10crafted
      @tom10crafted  Год назад +1

      Thanks! Honestly, I just add the top bolt and keep it as is - some people add random cheap stem and tighten it:)
      For the front fork fitting, both rings are added from each side🙌🏻

      @@tom10crafted thanks!
      I’ll contact EVOC and see if they can send me a new set as I only have one. For the headset I’ll just have to practice 😎
