Why aren’t you talking about the torque sensor. It is no where near as smooth as a Bosch when it initially engages.

Hi Sam, love the show, loved the review so much i went and bought a M510 Carbon Frame bike kit from GBK and they were very helpful in making sure i purchased all the right parts. Delivery was a lot quicker than i thought and had everything inside 4 weeks. I`m have the frame part vinyl wrap and should be starting the build 03/01/24. It will be interesting how it performs against my Orbea Wild FS. Keep up the great work you do for the E-Bike community.

Riders, best thing about Bafang is how easy it is to remove the moronic speed restrictions without any additional hardware bypass.

      How what to do

    • @Zetler
      @Zetler Год назад

@@grzybex6727 Bafang uses VESC and VESC is open source. It's not a closed ecosystem like Bosch and Shimano. You can tune it however you want and the firmware with the desired performance is freely available on the internet. There is no internal hardware to lord over your agency like the European brands.

I have the m510 36v 720watt. It's strong, but it doesn't feel very smooth. It's kind of "on and off " what can I do to improve the smoothness of my motor? Is it any risk when changing the firmware? How do I know which firmware is correct for me and so on. Any help is greatly appreciated 👍

Hello from Australia I have a ebike har trail xds E electro. The bike originally comes with the bafang m500. After 900 of km with the m500 I charge with the m510 . What a huge difference in power and torque. Because I bought the motor straight from china is unlocked in 32km per hour. Believe me is huge difference with the previous motor and I believe is One Of The most powerful motors out there

Bafgang has historically been the go to brand for ebike kits, and DIY ebike builders, but they are slowly creeping in on the dominate ones, especially with up and coming motor companies making waves like fauza and tq. So I think bafgang will keepig taking market share, especially at their price point. One day we will have a "standard" ebike drive unit mounting setup, and we the consumers and riders will be able to chose what motor we want to go with what bike, one day.....
The "rideability" or "natural feeling" that the bafgang lacks, is mainly due to the quality of calibration, and is often overlooked by many of the oem bike brands around. There are a few like bosch or specialized, that probably has the best user interface for custom calibrations; but they still lack true "rider tuning" or ability to "learn/adapt" how they ride.
One of my biggest frustrations as one that likes to "tune" their own vehicles, is the lack of opensource software or calibration options that the big 3 motor oem's (possibly 4 w/ bafgang), for those that could actually "tune" their own bikes, or provide options for the community. Currently, only options, which are still limited, are dealer only software and custom dongle's , primarily used for just warranty, maintenance, and those that can't do over the air updates.
I will say bafgang historically did have opensource options for full calibrations, but I believe that has stopped with their newer models. Also their are options out there but they mainly are for circumventing speed limits (which are dumb, we can do speed limits, but not proper theft prevention) and just provide the standard options that should be available by default for all consumers, like setting up lights, changing wheel size, creating a couple of pre-saved user profiles, and few offering power delivery adjustments.
Rant over, but I think eventually there will be solutions, but it will probably follow a similar path that auto tuning/calibration options did like efi-live, hptuners, openecu, etc.; where these private companies have to reverse engineer the ecu's from the oem's, and each year the oem's make it harder.

great motor on par with my bosch. This thing is powerful, just wish it would come on a nice, discreet bike. Currently, the M510 comes on only a monster truck frame.

Nice video. I have an e10 with the 840wh battery and the m510. My experience on range is similar to yours--a bit thirsty than Bosch/Shimano/Brose making the 840 bat on Bafang about equal to a 750 oh B/S/B.

And fun starts when you add a throttle. It is giving me 750W with 48V battery and much more stronger then other legal motors. Did test it on 3.2km uphil, 230m - time 6:58m, second guy in a strava table has 7:50 (and thats unlocked bosch or brose)

The fascination with power on an E bike.................why not cut to the chase and get a dirtbike? Or electric dirtbike.
45HP is easily had on a good 2 stroke and is a whole lot of fun. 12" of travel is very handy.
My Canyon E CF8 has the 75NM EP8 motor and will climb anything, Im ok with pedaling to provide power also. 95NM has got to suck a battery down pretty fast.

    👍God review, as usual👏.
But this EWS and this engine with over rider, should be banned as this over ride becomes an advantage over these engines that do NOT have this, and what do the rules say about how many meters of over ride you can have.
This is a way of killing interest in the sport and can be compared to doping.😉
