Always really interesting seeing your perspective on these, especially with how against the general curve of the Metroid Prime series your opinions tend to land. Makes for a really engrossing view as you manage to really neatly summarize the story of each game whilst always drawing parallels and breaking down the unique aspects. You have reached the level of "you have my full attention while I eat dinner". I cannot give higher praise.
From a Worldbuilding perspective Prime 3 is the best. As much as I adore the Pirate Logs from Prime 1 and 2, seeing both a Federation World with it's Military and Navy and than later the Pirates with their Military and Navy really just makes me beg for a Metroid RTS or RPG.
This one's hit or miss depending on the player's attitude. I really liked it when I played it on release, but when I recently went through it again - with the expectation that I could just blaze through it they way I did with Metroid Prime Remastered - I felt let down. The combat is better but also takes much more energy from the player. I didn't have that this time around, so I just thought it was tedious. I also think backtracking in Metroid Prime is easier on the player because you can just run past everything, and there's lots of routes because of how interconnected the game is. The areas in Corruption feel a lot more linear in comparison. I love the atmosphere and theme of Sky Town but man, traversing the area gets annoying quickly. You have good points with the streamlined progression and improved action/combat. But I feel there's already games like Doom and Halo for that. I always liked that Metroid Prime was just a simple and atmospheric adventure with a lot of routing. MP3 just betrayed my expectations this time around.
More than fair! I just value the fast paced action more than the backtracking and routing. Thankfully there's Prime games that cater to either tastes! Excited to see what Prime 4's balance of these aspects will be.
Metroid Prime 3 is incredible after a couple playthroughs I have some things to say. [ SHIP OPINION, MISSED OPPOTUNITY ] It was way to easy for Samus to enter the Pirate Homeworld. I wish there a part where you had to stealthily fly through there defences. Maybe could of used a 3rd person flight section where you shoot and fly through tunnels before going to the landing site before. This would be been great since all those missile upgrades you get would would make parts easier depending on how many you get. Ship could of had more parts you had to use it to fire at enemies in open portions that lack a roof. You get alot of ship missile upgrades sadly becomes pointless getting since its barely ever used again. I have more focus on the beams and gameplay [ BEAM STACKING ] Super Metroid gave you more beams to stack. Beam stack is a thing but no Super Missile stacking like the 2D games which is very sad to see not included, would made the ice missiles more effective and fun to use. SM: Power Beam > 3 shot Spazer Beam > Ice > Wave > Plasma MP3: Power Beam > Plasma Beam > Nova Beam It was a letdown for me Samus did not obtain more powerful beams. Think the Wave Beam or Spazer Beam could of been obtained after the Nova Beam. [ PLANETS AND SADLY REMOVED CONTENT ] We sadly missed out on this lush grass type planet, would of been nice to have seen a normal grassland planet that was heavily overtaken by Phazon. Seen here i.imgur.com/b7h5j.jpeg I think the game could of done with one final Leviathan planet to show Samus's final transformation into corruption. Should be noted Samus was going to reach a higher level of corruption where the armor turned black with phazon veins, looked awesome. i.imgur.com/EihW6.jpeg
I believe the shit this game gets is totally warranted, however, I love it despite the flaws. I adore it. It's the weakest in the trilogy, but still a god tier game
Wow, someone who thinks like me in regards to Prime 3! I loved what Retro did to the Metroid formula with this one. The worldbuilding, the characters, the ship being useful for once, the combat! Dont get me wrong, i do like prime 1 and 2 and the 2d games, but i would like if the future prime games folow the footsteps from prime 3. Leave minimalist stories and worlds to the 2d games
The weakest prime but that's due to straying too much from typical metroid formulas. The controls were sublime music excellent. And the other bounty hunters cool
I sid l8ke teling you this bit metroid cam be for haylow as its did not exzit at the time wen metroid was first maied witch gos bake to 1990 so kiss bum

I too got a Kingdom Hearts vibe from Elysia lol, sounded like that final castle area's music, where you're accompanying Beast to rescue Belle
Hollow Bastion!
I never noticed Samus's increasingly visible Phazon sickness in her reflection!

Loved the looking pretty for me joke. Lol i knew i was watching the right video after.
I just beat Prime 3. Nice video. Where did you learn how to edit?
Many many RUclips Tutorials haha
16:42 is the background music from Crisis Core? Or does Prime 3 just have something similar?
Hey good ear!! You nailed it. And no Prime 3's soundtrack doesn't have much good stuff to pull from so I used other OSTs to score the episode.
