Hey lovely Twilight Princess fans! I just released a BRAND NEW ZELDA VIDEO all about Skyward Sword HD. If you liked this thing, it'd really mean the world to me if you checked this new one out ruclips.net/video/MiYdXscvZR4/видео.html
You all prolly dont give a shit but does someone know a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I would love any tips you can give me!
@Walker Randall Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I'm a little sad that you didn't mention how each phase of the Ganondorf fight uses a trope from a previous game's Ganon fight. You have Dead Man's Volley, the watch-the-paintings from Ocarina (as a wolf!), the horseback fight, and finally a duel to the death in a ring of fire. As much as Zant's boss rush is a tour de force, Ganondorf does it just as well.
Snugboy i think BOTW2 might be a darker game than the first one, kinda like OoT and Majoras mask, plus the trailer for it itself looks way more dark than anything in BOTW.
@@marphy1451 The problem also lies in the art style. Theres only so much of a mood you can set with cell shaded graphics. Twilight Princess did dark fantasy perfectly, the only other game to even come close was Dark Souls 1
I definitely found myself genuinely caring about these characters. I remember racing as fast as I could to save midna, not because I just wanted to do it quickly, but because I had this real panic and fear for midna. Like I forgot that I was playing a game. I cared about this little blob of pixels.
And what makes it more amazing is that I started out hating Midna. Then I found myself racing to save her because I was afraid she would die. And there wasn’t a single moment where I could pinpoint the change from hating her to racing to save her.
I loved this game because it was one of the first games I ever saw existing. My older cousin was playing it on the couch, and I thought it was multiplayer because of the Monkeys, and that’s the full memory. For literal years, I tried to find out what game it is, and when I found the disc box, I realized what it was, and smiled. I realized another reason I loved this game was because when I first played Smash Brawl, I always played as link, and became really good at it, just because he was cool looking and green, so I loved his character. I started playing the game last year or the year before, I was so happy. Me and my cousin (younger brother of my older cousin) took turns playing the game and it was so fun, and we had some good times. We’re currently on the Ooccoo dungeon, and we’re doing good.
Yeah, I also cared a lot for the people in the village, because on my second playthrough, I actually talked to them more than the required dialogues, and I felt so bad about how losing the children caused so much terror and sadness in the village, that I wanted to save them because it would make the villagers at peace again, and not because I had to.
Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game I EVER played and my goodness… I fell in love with the game immediately. It just absolutely blew my mind. The open world, the characters, the terrifying enemies and incredible story line that had me hooked from the very beginning… It will always have a special place in my heart. I’m devastated that I don’t have my Wii anymore, so I can’t even replay the masterpiece of a game 😭
I remember watching my older brother play twighlight princess and wind waker back to back when i was little cuz i wasn't old enough to figure out the puzzles myself and it made me obsessed with legend of Zelda ever since. My mom made my best friend and me Link costumes so we could run around in the woods and fight "trolls" (didn't know they were called bokoblins at the time) twilight princess literally changed my life bc i spent so much time thinking Abt Zelda and it growing up.
My biggest gripe with TP will always be that the enemy music interrupts Midna’s Lament during that section. I was so pissed when they didn’t fix that in the remake ngl
I'm pissed that the HD remaster is so bad vs other remasters that had a lot more going on and were cheaper at the time. I can't stand Ilia's duck face in the HD remaster and the Miiverse stamps ruining a chest that originally was a heartpiece or something similar.
Honestly what threw me off the most when i first started playing TP was how soft Link was. He's so badass but HE'S THE LITERAL PERSONIFICATION OF "It's not much, but it's honest work" and I LOV EHIM FOR IT
@@carlospandette8001 There's a distinct and seemingly calculated distance. Most links are sweet young boys who are LAZY AF lmao. This link is working helping the entire village doing the work of a hero long before destiny and zant
@@kevinaguirre9306 Every Link is the literal personification of "it's not much, but t's honest work". That's why I said so basically all Link characters in all zelda games. All Links are hard workers, helping whatever they can, the loner character who stands up for everyone.
@@carlospandette8001 idk tho, ocarina of time link, wind waker link, most of the mangas which I grew up on, portray him as an irresponsible, maybe selfish, immature kid who grows into becoming that trope. Which, as a kid who exemplified those negative traits, I very much appreciated. Maybe it's projection, but I think that twilight princess link is different in that he's already saving the town by just doing villager shit. He's a hero doing honest work, where was like wind waker link is sleeping outside to be alone and sleep in, forgetting his own birthday lmao
The title segment where Wolf Link howls at the twilight and the main theme motif plays in the background gives peak Zelda chills and you can’t change my mind. The hype for this game was palpable.
It always gives me goosebumps. The amount of nostalgia almost hurts my heart in a way. One of the best and most influential games I have played in my life.
Remember though, the game tricks you into believing Zelda is the title character. It isn’t until later into the game (I think it’s when you enter Gerudo, or maybe even not until the very end of the game?) that you find out the true Twilight Princess is Midna.
@@naoai1549 Nah, you’re right. I was just bringing it up because those who haven’t played the game wouldn’t know that. Then again, they shouldn’t be watching this video due to spoilers so 🤷♂️
I've never seen someone who agrees with me on the intro and setting up Link as a sweet and average farm boy and making you care about the characters so much. This is my BIGGEST argument about why I love this game and hearing someone agree with me was really refereshing.
I know!!! It seems like you always hear a bunch of crap about the intro. I loved it because you get a glimpse of life. It is just normal, things are peaceful, and it gives you so much stuff to prepare
16:22 I got to texture zelda herself and I can't express enough how fun it was. Hope everyone that played the HD remake enjoyed the textures. We tried to keep them fairly simular.
Dude! I just looked at the credits and sure enough your name is in there. Do you have a Twitter or an email or something I could contact you on? I’d absolutely love to chat more about this!
That's really cool! One thing I wish the remaster had done was add in Orchestral Soundtrack and add in modern lighting and shadows to make it more immersive. Missed opportunity but oh well.
one of the things I got to appreciate about twilight princess after a while is how Princess Zelda herself actually acts like a queen in this one, she cares about and protects her kingdom, unlike the other games where she is younger, lost or constricted on what she can do for her kingdom. Her assist in the last Ganondorf fight while it is reminiscent to other games I still appreciate how girlboss she is in this one
It made me sad in WW how Zelda and Tetra FELT like two different people. I feel like leaving her sealed in that chamber while Link did his quest for the triforce would have had more potency if she had been furious and devastated instead of artfully sad
I use to watch my brother play this game as a kid and immediately I was just in awe. I was too scared to actually play it though and would just run around the first village and hold that dog (you know the one). One day I had accidentally saved my 10 min save file over my brothers 9 hours of gameplay (that was a lot at the time due to divorce parent situation, yenno). My heart sank and I felt so bad and had the idea to play it up to where he had gotten before he found out. I was really scared but link’s courage really inspired me back then so I booked it and found I was pretty good at it in the meantime. I don’t think I would have touched video games much growing up if that hadn’t happen. The only reason my brother found out was because in my rush I had renamed link to rfgt1234 for some reason? Lol But I ended up going semi completionist on this game
This reminded me of the time I had 118/120 stars in Mario 64 and my 7yr old cousin deleted my file and saved over it with his 9 star game. I almost killed him
I did the same thing with my older cousin! However, she offered to reset her entire 10 hour save file so I could start over with her... I was shocked, felt bad, and insanely happy 😂 we had a great time playing it to the end!! A game I’ll never forget.
Thank yooouuu for this videoooo. When Twilight Princess was on the “bad zeldas” list, I was in shock every time. This game is fking incredible. A gem of gaming we need to preserve
It's on the bad Zelda's list? Honestly putting any game on there is criminal but tp especially. Out of all the Zelda games I've played, it's one of my absolute favorites! Oot is tied because I have so many great memories with both of them
@@murasakino101 my only issue with Zelda as a whole Is you can’t change the difficulty setting to make game harder. I finally played OOT MASTER QUEST. The increased difficulty of the puzzles made the game more fun and exciting. That being said TWILIGHT PRINCESS is my next Zelda game to beat Before starting BOTW
To many people trash Zelda games for all the wrong reasons. I was hearing nothing but bad things about SKYWARD SWORD, I finally played it on the Nintendo switch and I was more then pleased with the game, my biggest issue is that the HYLIAN SHIELD is optional. that should be a standard shield in the game.
@@derekjuarez9762 Last time I played Twilight Princess on Wii I learned a glitch that lets you skip the Ordon sword and keep the wooden sword (I'm not a speedrunner, it took me forever to set up the trick and finally pull it off) while also restricting myself to the starting three hearts. There are only a handful of occasions where you actually need to switch to the master sword to finish off an enemy or boss, but otherwise, playing the whole game with the weakest sword and lowest health possible was very rewarding.
The hero's shade was confirmed to be link from OoT and MM, so the songs make absolute sense. Also, the first one is the song of healing because oot link is trying to see if it can heal link from being a wolf, which is awesome detail.
@@ZeldaVerdem ocarina of time fan, it was the first game I played. I HATED TP game for being better than OOT, but nostalgia is over, i tried oot week ago and its just inferior compared to TP Tp aged like fine vine, the game have HD port on Wii U and maybe switch? While oot had a whole remake on 3DS and still ugly game TP is the 🐐 But OOT is my fav game in my heart
It's the fun typical anime story from rags to riches, outcast to power, townfolk to hero concept. I think TP execcuted this exceptionally well, compelling a nobody to care about the world.
It reminds me of the intro to Kingdom Hearts 2. A lot of people hate it, but it gives so much needed context to the game and story, and makes you really care about the characters you'll see
I like slow starts only for my first playthrough of a game, when a game has a slow start it usually turns me off of playing it again especially without a new game + mode
I think that the cool thing about twilight princess is it's more shaped like a movie. With the music used as a narrative element. More character development, and cool shoots. Personally I love the dark and the music... Is just... So damn good.
@@SimonCarranza nope, super white. i chose the first and last names myself when i had it changed a few years ago. just liked the way Caldera sounded honestly, only found out it’s typically a spanish name a while back lmao. but picked Simon specifically after the main character of Gurren Lagann, fun fact
@@yourehereforthatarentyou Hahaha we are white too in Spain, specially after the quarantine. Well maybe dark hair. But cool, you chose a cool name 😎😎 Actually, your surname means boiler in Spanish, double cool!
@@trippersigs2248 Because it’s overshadowed by nearly every other Zelda game when it comes to conversation. I rarely see TP topics or videos, yet BOTW or OOT are all over the place, for example. It sold a lot, sure. It’s generally not viewed as “remarkable” (he hit this point in the video) though.
@prologue “unrevolutionary” and “ocarina of time” don’t belong in the same sentence, not sure what you’re trying to play at. not to mention, it’s twilight “princess,” not “sword.” you not knowing the name adds to my point.
It's one of the most overrated Zelda games, what the fuck are you talking about? Everywhere I go i see a shit ton of TP fans talking about the game, why are you acting like it's a hidden gem????
Twilight princess is my favourite game of all time and no one can change my opinion I love everything about it:story, music, atmosphere, bosses, puzzles, gameplay, combat, and mostly dungeons(the arbitor's grounds and city in the sky were awesome)
Agreed! I'll admit BoTW is a close second but Twilight Princess will always be my favorite! Really wish we could see the Twili again, maybe BoTW 2 but that's near impossible
I got Twilight Princess without ever buying it. My parents bought a used Wii, and the Twilight Princess disk was in it. It quickly became one of my favorite games of all time. The music is probably my favorite part, and some songs still bring tears to my eyes years later.
I expected to have a lot to say, but this is pretty solid. You seem to have a very good grasp on comedic timing interspersed among more serious commentary. Not once did it feel obnoxious, and that's a very good thing. I'm surprised this video hasn't popped off yet. It seems like the perfect fit for RUclips's algorithm. Zelda, attention grabbing title and thumbnail, and a long video. Well, regardless, I really enjoyed it. You've organized your points well, it was all very interesting, and now I'm subbed. I like to offer constructive criticism to up and coming creators, to see where they can better improve, but I'm having a hard time. All you need to focus on, really, is just refining your craft. Make the jokes even tighter, the scripts even better organized. I think you're on a good path, and I will be looking forward to future videos.
Holy shit, King. Thanks so much for actually watching. Like I said on Twitter I have watched your series of Zelda retrospectives a million and a half times. They’re all really fantastic. (I even listened to your twilight Princess one during class in high school when I was supposed to be doing work haha). I am really glad you liked the video. Your words mean a lot to me. I was very worried the whole time while editing that it was too snappy and obnoxious, so really glad to hear that it didn’t come across that way. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch. Excuse the pun but that’s king shit right there. ❤️
@@kylehill3643 really? I mean I think that award goes to Ocarina of time tbh. I think underrated really fits twilight princess. But hey that’s just my opinion. I skimmed through some of your comments and it’s clear that you don’t like it, but that’s fine.
A solely selfish note of feedback - I love watching these Zelda retrospectives while I'm relaxing in bed before sleep so the hectic speed of the narration and jumping round with the sound effects / background music can get a bit intense. might just mean I need to watch your videos during the day instead cos the actual content is awesome 🤣 not a huge fan of comedy in these kinds of videos but again that's totally subjective. thanks for sharing this one.
I know this is a video that was posted two years ago, but today, just a couple of weeks after the launch of Tears of the Kingdom, I came looking for it. I was wondering if anyone ever talked about Twilight Princess. I'm with you, this was a truly great game. And I think you've very succinctly identified why it was. Thank you for appreciating this game, and for making a video about it (even if it was two years ago.) You've made me understand why I sometimes think wistfully about this game. Listening to the music on this video was such a nostalgic moment for me.
Twilight definitely shares 1st place for me next to Majora's Mask. I deeply appreciated how real the graphics became and wish they went back to it for BOTW and TOTK. I hope they do in the future after TOTK.
I feel that way about the visuals. The whole twilight visuals is incredible, and so much more interesting and unique than anything from oot or the rest of the series (though they are all at the top of video game visuals imo)
@@leaffinite2001 If you've seen any of the fan made 3D renders on RUclips on how they remake and model OoT in unbelievable realistic graphics you have to ask why Nintendo has taken so long to take the franchise to the next step for a change. Cryzenx here on RUclips has done amazing work so there's no excuse why Nintendo can't pull something like that off. BUT something as convenient and small as the Switch can't handle that type of software from what I've heard people say so they would have to distribute a new more sophisticated game console with more hardware space. Yet I also heard that the Switch Pro or something like that is what they're working on next, which means most likely we're not getting a realistic Zelda any time soon damn it. And that's IF they decide to do it or the fan heavily push for them to make one.
@Jheneauxza Cindeiga i really think part of the reason oot can be bumped up so much is the general lack of power necessary to run the game. Like yes, they could make a new zelda game with all the depth and mechanical complexity of oot (not that much frankly) and crazy high quality graphics, but instead they are making games like totk that still look 10 times better than oot with like 100 times the gameplay/computing complexity. Which is better. Thats something to keep in mind whenever you see "mario 64 but it looks better than odyssey" or whatever, mario 64 runs on 35 year old hardware, running a game like botw at that graphical quality is actually hard.
I 100% completed Twilight Princess 3 times on the Gamecube version, i never had so much fun in a single player game in my life and definetly the game is overwhelming emotionally speaking. It takes the best aspects from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask to create a solid timeless masterpiece 👍.
Ocarina of Time was my first Zelda game, followed by Wind Waker but it wasn’t until I played Twilight Princess that I really began to fall in love with the series. I’m 22 as well.
Twilight Princess is the first one I've ever managed to finish on my own, since I was finally old enough to understand how to get pass most puzzles on my own. It has a special place in my heart and is my favourite for most of the reasons you've mentioned. The darker tones are really what made me prefer it tbh
This is the first time I've ever heard anyone acknowledge the slow beginning in a positive way, and it makes me so happy. I love how it sets up a relationship between Link and all the other characters in a believable way because then, throughout the rest of the game, you really feel like you care about what you're fighting for. It makes the stakes more personal, and it's part of why I'm so in love with this game.
This video really put into words why TP holds such a special place in my heart. Granted, I haven't played it since the Gamecube version all those years ago (I wanted to get back to it... but then I booted the game up and realised that I was in the water temple again). TP was probably my 3rd Zelda game after WW and Minish Cap. And it may sound silly, but I really enjoyed Princess Zelda's role in the game. I remember being so surprised meeting her as early as you do. You also think that the game is going to be about her and that she'll be the Twilight Princess and boom, it's actually Midna. I'm rambling, but it's so heartening to see videos like these, because TP really is such an underrated game. And I hope that we get another port to the Switch soon... please Nintendo... I'm begging you...
This whole video is so heartwarming to me because I never thought that someone else could have the same level of appreciation for The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess that I have.
I actually have an interesting story about this game. The first time I got a detention at school, I was sent to a teacher who had a Nintendo Wii set up for students who finished work early or free days where people would do their own thing. One game in particular caught my eye, that being twilight princess. The teacher noticed this and told me very few students even played it that much, so the teacher actually let me keep it as long I didn't get into more trouble in the future.
@@jheneauxzacindeiga3409 yeah I wish my teachers were that cool, well I had one who was actually but the principal hated him for being so chill and practically giving the answers to any student who asked when working on homework in class, which I mean yeah his job was to teach and instruct not test our memory and berate us when we got a question wrong, so he was pretty cool.
I believe that TP's strength is like "Death by a Thousand Cuts" in reverse. Instead of getting one crazy thing done right (with the exception of the story and characters) it does thousands of smaller things just so damn right.
Zelda Twilight Princess was my first introduction to Zelda games and even though I love so many of the other games in the series, none have brought me as much joy, excitement, and nostalgia as this game. The music and the story of the game are HUGE for me and this games’ music will forever be my favorite music of any game/movie ever. The story of Twilight Princess is also my favorite story in the series and possibly in any game I’ve ever played. It’s truly special that I can replay this game for the nth time and NEVER get tired of it. I will continue to say that this is my favorite game of all time and even though I absolutely love BOTW, it will never have the same impact on me as Twilight Princess does. A true masterpiece! *steps off soap box*
This game was the best part of my childhood and a memory I hold very dear to this day. It has impacted me a ton. I used to stay up late as a kid in elementary, watching my dad play it while waiting for my mom to come home from her night shifts. The family was happy back then and it was so sweet. Now, I want to put something related to this game on everything I own. I have the logo on my car, the Hyrule crest on my laptop, now for my phone....Two stickers, OoT charms that I destroyed a lanyard for to make a phone charm, Twilight princess lock and home screen, wolf link and midna picture for my keyboard, midna sound alerts (her giggle, her saying hey, and appearing), so fan songs from a youtuber as ringtones, and songs from the game for my alarm sounds. My purse has a pin of wolf link and a badge of midna, and all of this is from me remembering the happier days when I look at all of these. My favorite part about the game is the reason why Link goes on his adventure. For most games I see, its to save Hyrule or save Zelda, but to save the kids was what touched me. He didn't care about Hyrule or Zelda. He didn't travel or met her at that point. It was the kids that made him originally start his quest, which is so sweet. His interactions with Midna and their story also kept a young me watching more, along with the Hero's Shade bein the Hero of Time, where you even get his old weapons that you used in the previous game. I can go on a long rant because of this game alone because of how much it impacted me as a child, and I wish that this game gets more love. The 11 volume manga also adds so much to the world, while also taking away some of the ame's glory, but it enhanced my love for the game and the characters in it.
This video put into words everything ive thought about Twilight Princess since 2006 - such an incredible game with so many superb moments. Midna is the best character in Zelda history
I don’t remember how young I was when I played this game but I’m 17 now this is still and always be my favorite game, and I will take my time to watch anybody to talk about it.
I'm 16 now and I remember playing it back when we got a Wii in 2009 and I still love the game so much. I have it on Dolphin Emulator and still play it often just for the nostalgia and memories.
Midna will always be my favorite character ever released in any game. The dynamic between her and Link’s wolf form, her drastic shift from sassy and uncaring to concerned and connected, the relationship you build throughout the story and the eventual end all culminate in one of the best written characters of any game, let alone a Zelda title. I’m man enough to admit that I shed tears at the end of this game. Seeing Midna in her true form sacrifice her chance to ever see Link again after the entire story all because she knows the risk of the Twilight escaping is so heroic yet also heartbreaking. On a side note, the enemy characters in this game are supremely underrated. The shield face guys you fight in the Twilight realm were genuinely terrifying enemies to me as a kid and even now there’s something about their movement that’s just so uneasy. The almost horror and suspenseful atmosphere of this game really ropes you in. Not only do you feel connected to these characters throughout the story, but saving them is genuinely a test of your bravery at the hands of these truly horrific enemies and villains. This and Mario Party 6 were the only games I played on the original GameCube before moving to the DS and Wii back when I was only 7 or 8. So while I may have incredibly rose tinted glasses, this game will always have a very special place in my heart, in the shape of Midna’s little single tooth sassy grin.
Being born in 1997, this was actually the game that introduced me to the Zelda series. It absolutely blew me away. There’s nothing like the feeling it gave me the first time I used the Wii remote to swing Link’s sword. It sparked and lifelong love for the series, and I’ve played almost all of them now. After playing this, I had to have the rest. I got A Link To The Past on Gameboy advance, and from there I just kept playing them. My very young sons now play the exact same games, and it’s the most wonderful thing for me.
@Devon Burkhardt See. I see nothing but praises and everyone afraid to point out it's faults. I don't see any truth in this game being 'under' rated. I don't see any 'under' anywhere or 'hate' when some situations should call things out.
Twilight Princess genuinely changed my life. It made me love stories and fleshed out characters , it made me love video games and in a roundabout way- It made me live acting and writing. This game is fantastic
I recently did a revisit of Twilight Princess. Started a new save. I just planned on seeing if it held up to my childhood views. Since when I played this as a kid, its all i could think about for months. Even after i beat it, I still couldn't get it off my mind. Well, my revisit I relearned why I loved the game as much as I did. The way Link is just living his normal life and having to throw all of that away to save those he cares about. He faces struggles, terrifying enemies, and impossible challenges, but he takes all of them head on. He doesn't care how big the foe is, or how insurmountable the challenge is. He WILL get it done. He's not afraid. Its empowering. The friends you make along the way makes the journey all the more worthwhile. This, is a game. THIS is peak.
For me Twilight Princess was the culmination of all the past traditional 3d zelda games into something that was amazing. So many creative dungeons, an atmospheric grand world filled with so many diverse characters and towns, amazing music, a great story with a bitter sweet ending, and so much more. I still feel that this is the best zelda game we have gotten and I hope the next zelda game (after tears of the kingdom) takes heavy inspiration from TP and what it did so well.
Imo twilight princess has the best dungeons besides skyward sword which after being rereleased I can say I enjoyed it better than on the Wii skyward sword also some of the best character development in Zelda period but personally I prefer twilight princess it’s truly a masterpiece
Playing the Wii version and its motion controls added a visceral feeling to the game. Swinging your sword may get tiring and old but still adds to the immersion. Pointing your wiimote to aim your arrow, slingshot or double claws is much more satisfying than double thumbsticks. I love this game!
What i loved about it was when you were fighting the bosses and could finally hit their weak point it was so satisfying to just swing the wiimote like a madman especially with the music that gets triumphant in those moments.
I will never forget the moment when Link defeats King Bulbin on the bridge and does that badass pose with Epona. It felt so heroic and that's something I can't say I've felt a lot of when playing Zelda games. Of course I know Link is the "Hero of Time" but something about that scene in this game felt so epic.
This video single-handedly made me do something I’ve been putting off for years. And so I went through my dusty old cases and found my copy of Twilight Princess for the Wii-U. My journey will begin anew, thank you.
I’m conflicted. Some of the music sounds way better with the orchestra, like the Hyrule Field theme, cause it’s meant to be bombastic and filled with oomph, but for the twilight world themes, you just have to have that on MIDI because you wouldn’t be able to capture the same vibe with the orchestra. I even think they missed the point of the opening of the game. It’s meant to be quiet and mysterious and beautiful, but with the orchestra they bombastic it up. I think it would be great to have a mixture, with some pieces performed by an orchestra, and some still on the MIDI.
I tried listening to the orchestral versions, and as good as they sound on their own, I also think they sound a bit too bombastic, especially if they were in the game itself. (Especially the opening theme, which I believe IS supposed to be more quiet, mysterious and beautiful like Hychro mentioned, not loud and massive like the orchestral version tried to do during the last part) Also, I feel the notes in the Fyrus music sounded more audible in the MIDI version than whatever orchestral version he was playing, which sounded a bit too polished imo.
I want to play it because my bro was the one that play it, but idk if my wii is still alive. I was 9 or 10 years and I was scared of the monsters haha- (I was so stupid ._.)
Due your pacing is insane over this whole thing, top notch energy start to finish. My wife's favorite game is actually Twilight Princess and she talks about it all the time. You make some great points and I can totally see how this is underrated. I'm still hoping for modern remakes of all the zelda titles so i can truly pay through them all on the switch and get a feel for the whole series. Your hardwork payed off on this one dude, it's a banger!
Dude Hammers thank you so much for always being so kind! Every time I edited bits of Majora's Mask I kept thinking about how good your MM video was lol. And tell your wife that she is an absolute legend with impeccable taste in games.
That was delightful to watch, I grew up playing and loving this game on the Wii! I loved how much detail you went into about the music in particular. It's such a compelling score and they use it so well but the difference between the orchestral versions and MIDI is so shocking. How cool would it be to have a Switch port with live music spliced in! Also never knew that Midna's lines were just chopped up sentences, so cool to hear.
First touching this game as achild, I just always felt that this game felt a lot more like a actual “legend” that the title "legend of zelda"implies, with all the characters, atmostphere, music, etc. It's all very touching. PS. I would take the Postman over any character in AC Odyssey or something
Guys... the puzzles are supposed to be challenging... you cant feel accomplished solving them if they're easy. The sliding box puzzle and the statue puzzle were my two favourite puzzles all because they were difficult. That said, zelda games often have variety to attract people with different tastes so the reason those puzzles are there is to please people like me just like most games have a stealth mission to please the people who enjoy stealth missions
Finally a fellow soul that sees Twilight Princess the same way I do. It's just so underappreciated and I am so sad it hasn't been ported to the Switch after all those years for others to enjoy. Midna has my heart till this day ❤️
"Skyward Sword...split many people" haha, I don't know why but I laughed there. Definitely was a split between the community, if not more hatred for it. Glad to see that people are playing through the HD version and loving it because personally I would've said this one's the most underrated
for real. this game in particular i feel like zelda isnt just sorta the princess that you go after and she actually has her own story going on at the same time as links. feels more like she has a role opposed to just needing to be saved.
Skywar is my second favorite after Botw. If you don’t get excited feeling like you are holding the master sword I think you don’t deserve to play this series.
@Johan Nilsson Skyward Sword is kinda 💩 compared to Twilight Princess, the fixed things that Skyward Sword Switch has, are stuff that Twilight Princess already had out of the box in the Gamecube original and Wii port.
Yeah, ganandorf wanted to use the triforce of power to revive himself but he needed Zants help since Ganon gave Zant part of his power. Zant did not help and let Ganondorf die, because Ganandorf used and abondoned Zant earlier in the game
@@LucarioBot Not necessarily very probable. It's implied Ganondorf has invested a resevoir of power within Zant, lending him might but also tying part of himself to Zant, like a lich with a philactory or Voldemort's horcruxes: without destroying one, the other can't truly be killed. Zant's shade symbolically kills himself by snapping his own neck. Before fading, he gets to see his former master, who betrayed him, die a true death with nothing anchoring him to life. That's my take on it, anyway.
Let's be honest, Malo becoming a shop owner was destined. In Japan, adorable things tend to become popular, and he made the right connections. Had help from the hero and the gorons. On the plus, he got you a discount on the magic armor or whatever it's called. Happy for him. 👑🤵🏽♂️🃏💯
I'm with you lol. Majora's Mask is my favorite over Twilight princess, just barely. I think the reason I like Majora's Mask and Twilight princess specifically is the atmosphere, interactions with characters, and how dark they were willing to get. Ocarina of time did do this, but for me, it never felt like impending doom or absolute hopelessness as both of the others did at certain points. That being said tho, Ganandorf holding gorons in the fire temple waiting to be eaten is pretty messed up and is probably in the top 10 of messed up and dark Zelda moments.
Nah man sure ur kids don’t gets scared Easily, my brother was teaching me to play since I was three and loz tp and loz oot now it’s the best game I’ve even played
It’s not so much that TP was dark, it’s that it was intentionally produced in an art style that catered to a western audience. The studio itself has a preference for the style used in WW, SS, BotW
@@jamkat7785 I think MM is creepy AND dark, while TW is creepy but not necessarily dark since the mood in general is a lot brighter than MM. Even then I feel like both game's styles are so different that just putting some generic label like "dark" or "creepy" on them doesn't do them justice.
Dude. This video reignited my love for this game. I kept just nodding my head and going "yeah he's right". It is so close to my top spot I think it switches every day. All of your points were spot on. The only fault I really have against this game is the resistance to do a full replay because of how slow it can be at times. Regardless this was the first Zelda game I beat completely by myself. It really is special to me and this video perfectly encapsulates why I adore it. Whew, long comment.
YES! This is exactly the kind of response I wanted lol. The slow start can be killer man but it's definitely worth it if you power through ;) Thanks for the long comment
Twilight Princess is my favourite Zelda game because of how dark and different it is, along with also being soft. The characters, world, and the STORY are AMAZING!! I'VE Never come across someone whom loves it as much as I do. So thank you for making this video essay. Midna is by far my favourite character in a Zelda game. ❤
I always love seeing Twilight Princess getting the love I think it deserves. It was my first Zelda game, and I went in completely blind. I had no idea what The Legend of Zelda was or what TP was. And oh my god was it just absolutely phenomenal. The best gaming experience I’ve ever had. And because of how amazing it is, it’s what got me so into TLoZ and why TP is my favorite game of all time. Thank you for this awesome video
@@Snugboy Nah sorry mate. It's still skyward sword that is the most unappreciated. Most people love Twillight Princess, there are only a few edgy stupid idiots that say: "iT iS jUsT OcArInA oF TiMe".
Great video. I never played Zelda until breathe of the wild, and now that Tears is out, I’m scouring RUclips learning some lore to appreciate it more. I honestly regret that I didn’t grow up on these games, because individually, they’re outstanding, but as a collective unit, they’re a fictional poetic masterpiece.
I remember being a little girl and watching my dad play this on the wii when it first came out and begging him to play it every day so I could watch and then finally picking up the controllers myself. This was my very first video game I ever played and to this day it remains my favorite of all time. I'm so happy you did the game so much justice and touched on every single point perfectly, you're definitely not alone in your love and admiration for this game!
Finally, someone pointed out the ending with Midna Leaving to the twilight world forever. That Moment hit the nostalgia gland pretty hard for me. Great video dude! 10/10
This was the content I was searching for, thank you! Despite some flaws, the game is awesome, its story is compelling -and I totally agree with you the music it's so memorable
I am appalled you didn't mention the ominous music track of Hyrule Castle and Ganon building up as you get higher towards the top. Quiet, almost muted at first in somber melancholy, until you ascend each staircase, rising in sound as the tension of the final conflict is about to begin. That gave me chills when I realized. ❤
There are so many little details that made this game so cool and memorable for me. Like if you defeat a bigger enemy, and press A, Link does a little cool flexing with his sword! I love this. I don't understand why it is forgettable or bland to some people.
I’m so glad that someone appreciates this game as much as I do. This was my very first Zelda that I played with my two older brothers on the Wii. I get so much nostalgia from this game, it’s some of my earliest childhood memories and I’m just so glad someone broke down why it’s good.
Fun fact: The authors of the iconic zelda manga series said that if they were asked to do a Twilight Princess manga adaptation, they would want more money and freedom to make it. Now the Twilight Princess manga surpasses all the other zelda manga in spades. It got more volumes and way more content, and it gave us tie ins with the lore of Ocarina of Time, something Zelda theorists used to only theorize.
I’m so sad that this video came into my recommended after it had been out for seven months already, I could seriously hear someone go on and on about this game in particular for hours on end. This was my first Zelda game that I beat by myself without anything to help me like a guide as a kid and to just hear someone else put into words everything that is good about it. From hearing that little twinkle when there was a golden bug that you just knew Agatha would want, and it was in an area that was tedious to return to so you spent about half an hour looking for it, to the heart beating about 1000 beats per minute whenever there’s a situation such as Colin having his moment of heroism and you going to save him and finally FINALLY having your payback and showing Links growth from a humble farmhand into the hero he was always meant to be. This will always be my favorite Zelda game, nothing felt too tedious to me, and having someone else make a video about the good points makes me happy thank you.
I usually don't write comments at all, but this time, I have to. You're so entertaining to watch. I've binged a lot of content on video games in recent years, but you're quite exceptional in how you present information in an entertaining fashion while still being clear about your opinions and elaborating on them reasonably. It's a shame I didn't discover your channel earlier and that you don't have many more subscribers. Keep up the good work nonetheless. I'm aware this is an old video, I will be watching your newer content as well
@@nirutivan9811 Sad, although Switch sold much much more (and still is) than WiiU, I think that Nintendo should really invert some months and some money at port TP HD and Wind Waker HD to Switch, they don't even need to make further changes on them, just port them.
I fully agree. I don't own a Nintendo console anymore(HIGHLY regret getting rid of my ds and Wii years ago) and I want to play Zelda games so bad. I know there's breath of the wild for switch but I'd really love to play tp if I ever get a switch. I would have gotten a Wii u before but since there isn't anything new for it, I figured it wouldn't be a good idea
I know I'm late to this video but oh mi gosh I'm so glad to have found it! I LOVE the LOZ series to the point I have the original release date memorized, have almost the whole timeline memorized, a cookbook with 200 recipes and alcoholic drinks from dishes and such from the series and even have original games that I got from my dad. My first game was Ocarina of Time, however I don't have much in the way of memory of playing it (as I had started the series when I was 6 years old on my moms old N64) BUT WHAT I DO REMEMBER is when I played Twilight Princess for the first time on GameCube! I fell in love with the game and it played such a big role for my development as a person. So much so that I even wrote a collage essay about the game and Link and how it was inspiring and played such a role in my life. To see more and more people enjoying the game that shaped my childhood makes me so happy and it's even more wonderful to see how it's impacted others in positive ways! Twilight Princess really is an amazing game in so many ways. ❤
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. I always disagreed with how some fans discredited Twilight Princess for 'graphics that aged poorly' whilst also hailing Ocarina of Time as... well, timeless? Haha! Also, your editing is 10/10. Loved this! A really enjoyable watch ^^
This game has a great art style, world, characters with a lot of depth to them. Plus the best companion in all the series. I was actually sad to say goodbye to her.
Right. Unpopular opinion but I'd rather have my favorite Zelda game w favorite characters have a second game (TP) that breath of the wild. This probably just me but I just can't get into botw too much. After the story is done I couldn't care less about the game bc it feels so empty w out meaningful characters and in the moment story. The game left me wanting more and not in a good way
I always ALWAYS loved this game. The soundtrack was amazing and midnas lament gets me every time. I really loved the artistic aesthetic look they chose for this game and I felt like it was a serious title and felt so grown up playing it was a kid. I love twilight princess through and through!
I really don't care enough to comment on RUclips videos, but this one get a comment hands down. I've always been a huge Zelda fan, simply put. It's my favorite game series. Twilight Princess though? My favorite game in existence. It's always checked all the boxes for me and I love it. That doesn't make it perfect, but it makes it my favorite. My buddy and I are currently working on creating our own action-adventure video game and seeing your video definitely helped to get my head out of this space of not knowing where to go with it. This was a great reminder of the things I love in video games and the like. I loved the video, thank you for this sir.
When you were talking about Midna, I was literally tearing up thinking about how much she means to me as a character and how you perfectly encapsulated the things I love about her... Then the glue joke came out of left field and I almost choked laughing, oh my god.
I'm begging anyone who likes the story of tp to check out the the manga made by Akira Himekawa, it refines everything and expands on SO many characters and it's beautiful and I adore it, and nobody talks about it enough either!!
I don't the manga, it has many convoluted and forced things about the story that makes it look like the bad type of fan fiction. I like the simplicity of the game better and how straightfoward it is.
Twilight Princess has always been my favorite Zelda game! I loved the story, the music, the character design. I know that Zelda wasn't very prominent in this game, but damn did I love her mature and elegant design! And Link also looked so mature and elegant. I love everything about this game.
I loved how Zelda and Link are two strangers who have similar goals, but don't interact outside of that. Instead of, two characters who have a deep bond even though Link is a farmboy just because why not.
TP is my favorite Zelda. There was so many bad ass moments. When you get the iron boots and start stumping around everywhere in that dungeon by magnetic force! I loved it.

If twilight princess is your favorite game, you're instantly a friend.
Well, hello there, friend.
Yup

Zelda desperately needs to return to the dark high-fantasy art style. It was simply magical in Twilight Princess
I would love for a return to this style. Although idk how likely Nintendo would be to do it.
Snugboy i think BOTW2 might be a darker game than the first one, kinda like OoT and Majoras mask, plus the trailer for it itself looks way more dark than anything in BOTW.
@@marphy1451
The problem also lies in the art style. Theres only so much of a mood you can set with cell shaded graphics. Twilight Princess did dark fantasy perfectly, the only other game to even come close was Dark Souls 1
I agree!
No.

Even to this day I still race as fast as I can, I think a part of me is scared that she'll still die even though I know she won't
Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game I EVER played and my goodness… I fell in love with the game immediately. It just absolutely blew my mind. The open world, the characters, the terrifying enemies and incredible story line that had me hooked from the very beginning… It will always have a special place in my heart.
I always muted the music and played it on youtube so no enemy music was ever interrupting me >:)
I think that's generally why they don't spawn too many enemies in that part of the game.

So basically all Link characters in all zelda games....
@@carlospandette8001 No, not really.
I need a Wolf Link plushie, RIGHT NOW!
One of the rare games that truly lived up to that hype.
It always gives me goosebumps. The amount of nostalgia almost hurts my heart in a way. One of the best and most influential games I have played in my life.

It was overhyped and a lame fanservice game which copied OOT after the complaints against WW, I didnt buy into it
"Is this game all about Midna?"
The title of the game : Twilight princess
Remember though, the game tricks you into believing Zelda is the title character. It isn’t until later into the game (I think it’s when you enter Gerudo, or maybe even not until the very end of the game?) that you find out the true Twilight Princess is Midna.

That's really cool! One thing I wish the remaster had done was add in Orchestral Soundtrack and add in modern lighting and shadows to make it more immersive. Missed opportunity but oh well.
Good work man
Wow. How did you get that gig?
one of the things I got to appreciate about twilight princess after a while is how Princess Zelda herself actually acts like a queen in this one, she cares about and protects her kingdom, unlike the other games where she is younger, lost or constricted on what she can do for her kingdom. Her assist in the last Ganondorf fight while it is reminiscent to other games I still appreciate how girlboss she is in this one
Female characters have more agency and depth in Twilight Princess than in any other Zelda game, and no one talks about it.
It made me sad in WW how Zelda and Tetra FELT like two different people. I feel like leaving her sealed in that chamber while Link did his quest for the triforce would have had more potency if she had been furious and devastated instead of artfully sad
Right!!!??? SHE IS THE MOST BADASSS ZELDA EVER!
Thats actually a really sweet story😆
That’s so sweet dude! I also got into this because of my older brother too. I was completely enthralled by the experience, and the rest is history.

Before starting BOTW
To many people trash Zelda games for all the wrong reasons. There are only a handful of occasions where you actually need to switch to the master sword to finish off an enemy or boss, but otherwise, playing the whole game with the weakest sword and lowest health possible was very rewarding.

it’s funny because i never noticed how “slow” the beginning was on my own. i suppose i actually enjoy slow starts. i feel that it adds more depth
The Slow start works flawlessly tbh, it builds up the Atmosphere which makes it one of my favorite Titles ever.
I love the slow start. It actually made you care for the characters and as a result added a sense of urgency to help them.

@@Snugboy Here I corrected your title: Why Twilight Princess Is The Most Overrated Zelda Game
@@kylehill3643 really? I mean I think that award goes to Ocarina of time tbh. I think underrated really fits twilight princess. But hey that’s just my opinion. I skimmed through some of your comments and it’s clear that you don’t like it, but that’s fine.
Ocarina is still on the top, but I wouldn't say TP is the most underrated LoZ game.
TP easily has the most memorable sound design for me. Like Ocarina has banger music, but TP has such a bold atmosphere created by its music and SFX.
Twilight definitely shares 1st place for me next to Majora's Mask. I deeply appreciated how real the graphics became and wish they went back to it for BOTW and TOTK. I hope they do in the future after TOTK.
Fr the Hyrule Field theme goes hard
It is the true successor to OOT and it does everything better.
@@threemar3 Ehh I still feel like the OST in twilight princess was a downgrade.
Your opinion. I honestly think TP’s soundtrack is really cool.
Twilight Princess was my first Zelda game. I was 11 and I’m 22 now. I was instantly hooked and then I played the other games. I love the franchise.
I'm 22 too and I think i first played it when I was 13 or so. I picked up a copy at my library randomly and I immediately fell in love.
I was 12 when I played the game, but now I'm 21 and I still love it.
Wow I did the exact same thing!!
Bruh stop reminding us how old we are. But fr tho, the 2000s Zelda games were great.
The darker tones are really what made me prefer it tbh
twilight princess’s impact with music and story is what i missed in breath of the wild. no game does it better.
I love how you think bro
Agreed. Breath of the Wild storyline is weak in many ways.
AGREED 100%
Yep
I thought BotW had way better music and story than TP. Most characters in TP were pretty bad
I personally wish they put the characters you loved at risk more often

This whole video is so heartwarming to me because I never thought that someone else could have the same level of appreciation for The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess that I have.
well, just know that there are 5,080 positive comments, just like this one.
That teacher is a god amongst men
@@therandomnessnetwork1658 Hell yeah. Teacher of the Year type shit

so do you still have it? might be worth giving it a go again
I literally cried at multiple parts of this video because of how accurate and real it is. Thank you for making this and for sharing your love with us.
I believe that TP's strength is like "Death by a Thousand Cuts" in reverse. Instead of getting one crazy thing done right (with the exception of the story and characters) it does thousands of smaller things just so damn right.
Twilight Princess is an anomaly of a game, once in a lifetime.
Yes! That is so true. I like having a ton of great things, rather than one neat central gimmick.

WORD!! You put it nicely and I must say I agree, best game in many ways 🏰🌟
Bro yes i’ve found my people. this was the first game to make me cry at the end it really captivated me for days, played it countless times fr
Midna making the hard decisions with tears in her eyes, the one true Twilight Princess.

Linbeck beats her imo.
I don’t remember how young I was when I played this game but I’m 17 now this is still and always be my favorite game, and I will take my time to watch anybody to talk about it.
I remember feeling so cool when I turned 17 because I was finally the same age as the legendary hero xD
17 turning 18 and it's still my favorite zelda game

@@ghostchamploo5052 Good taste and btw happy birthday whenever it is. I just had my 18th birthday a week ago

I didn't know there were any more midna super fans out there. You're like a friend I never knew.
Midna is gold and i love the twist.
TP will always be the GOAT Zelda game to me. Nothing will ever top it...complete Masterpiece in every sense of the word
🤐 Whatever you say man
@Devon Burkhardt See.

I want someone to love me the way he loves Twilight princess 🥺
Don't we all
Don't we all
Me too, kid.
Me too.
Twilight Princess was and still is THE definitive Zelda game.
Playing the Wii version and its motion controls added a visceral feeling to the game. Swinging your sword may get tiring and old but still adds to the immersion. Pointing your wiimote to aim your arrow, slingshot or double claws is much more satisfying than double thumbsticks. I love this game!
Ok
Big agree.
What i loved about it was when you were fighting the bosses and could finally hit their weak point it was so satisfying to just swing the wiimote like a madman especially with the music that gets triumphant in those moments.
You can also turn off the pointer controls!
How is it how far are you

I love the MIDI music, it lended this hollow and surreal feeling to a hollow and oftentimes dark and horrifying world
Ikr! As a kid I would always struggle to identify what kinds of instruments were being used, but still thought it sounded just perfect like that.
Orchestra brah
People ignore that Twilight Princess is fundamentally a *Gamecube game* so having a full orchestra for big epic game is impossible.
I tried listening to the orchestral versions, and as good as they sound on their own, I also think they sound a bit too bombastic, especially if they were in the game itself. (Especially the opening theme, which I believe IS supposed to be more quiet, mysterious and beautiful like Hychro mentioned, not loud and massive like the orchestral version tried to do during the last part)
Also, I feel the notes in the Fyrus music sounded more audible in the MIDI version than whatever orchestral version he was playing, which sounded a bit too polished imo.
Twilight Princess isn't just my favourite Zelda game, it's my favorite game of all time.
Same here

The opening to twilight princess never fails to give me goosebumps, there something so powerful about it
Wow, I really wish I liked this game this much. I found it very bland and uninspired from the beginning :(
First touching this game as achild, I just always felt that this game felt a lot more like a actual “legend” that the title "legend of zelda"implies, with all the characters, atmostphere, music, etc. It's all very touching.
PS. I would take the Postman over any character in AC Odyssey or something
The fucking statue puzzle to get into the temple of time killed me
Yeah you've hit the nail on the head right there. The sliding box puzzle in Snowpeak Ruins also fucked me right off.
Literally
@@IwatsonI Oh my gosh that dungeon with that puzzle and the music almost made me go insane
Guys... the puzzles are supposed to be challenging... you cant feel accomplished solving them if they're easy. The sliding box puzzle and the statue puzzle were my two favourite puzzles all because they were difficult. That said, zelda games often have variety to attract people with different tastes so the reason those puzzles are there is to please people like me just like most games have a stealth mission to please the people who enjoy stealth missions
It was easy for me but i remember having to solve the puzzle for my friends at school lol. So apparently allot of people found it hard.

Are we gonna talk about how bad ass Zant is. KILLING GANONDORF WITH A NECKCRACK, that was dark af
That isn’t confirmed to be zant killing ganondorf it could’ve just been a vision
Yeah, ganandorf wanted to use the triforce of power to revive himself but he needed Zants help since Ganon gave Zant part of his power. Zant did not help and let Ganondorf die, because Ganandorf used and abondoned Zant earlier in the game
@@MrSean737 exactly
@@LucarioBot Not necessarily very probable.
It's implied Ganondorf has invested a resevoir of power within Zant, lending him might but also tying part of himself to Zant, like a lich with a philactory or Voldemort's horcruxes: without destroying one, the other can't truly be killed.
Zant's shade symbolically kills himself by snapping his own neck. Before fading, he gets to see his former master, who betrayed him, die a true death with nothing anchoring him to life.
That's my take on it, anyway.

Twilight Princess was too dark for kids but they never even realized how dark OoT and MM was dark af(Twilight is my 3rd fav after those two)
I'm with you lol.
Eh, I don't think it's fair to compare TWP and MM. Majora was Creepy. TWP was dark. Two very different tones with different goals.
@@jamkat7785 I think MM is creepy AND dark, while TW is creepy but not necessarily dark since the mood in general is a lot brighter than MM. Even then I feel like both game's styles are so different that just putting some generic label like "dark" or "creepy" on them doesn't do them justice.
Finally, someone who can match my hype level for this game.

I honestly regret that I didn’t grow up on these games, because individually, they’re outstanding, but as a collective unit, they’re a fictional poetic masterpiece.

ABSOLUTELY! I had a save file saved for Hyrule Castle so I could rerun it and experience the building action and then take out Ganondorf!

Wtf I just watched a 43 minute video & didn't realize it until it was over
It is what good videos does
Fast paced analysis like this are my favorite!
I'm aware this is an old video, I will be watching your newer content as well
The art style within twilight Princess, the almost gothic darkness of it is undefeated x
I wish Twilight Princess was made for the Switch instead of Skyward Sword to be honest
Me too, but sadly the HD version was already published for the Wii U…
You are so lovely! Thanks for the nice comment. Have a good one
This game has a great art style, world, characters with a lot of depth to them. Plus the best companion in all the series. I was actually sad to say goodbye to her.
i 100% agree with you we all miss midna
Do you know where can i read it, i only found 30 episodes and the rest is missing
Akira Himekawa is actually two women under a pseudonym! ❤❤❤
I loved it.
