AAC Classroom Routines Shared Reading for Emergent AAC

We read books nearly every day in our classrooms. This is an easy time to add communication supports for students who are emergent communicators, meaning they are just beginning to learn that symbols have meaning. During shared reading time emergent AAC users can make comments, request actions and participate fully, as long as we give them the materials they need to interact.
In this video, we are exploring VERY simple techniques for engaging emergent communicators in a common classroom routine to encourage interaction and use of communication symbols.
