  • In this video School of Synthesis Logic Pro tutor James Heron demonstrates how to use Scaler iPad within the newly released Logic Pro on the iPad. James demonstrates how to use Scaler as a Midi FX and as an Instrument and how to access the various GUI elements. Logic Pro iPad is a new release and whilst we await for some fixes from Apple (such as MIDI FX only passing through a 44.1kHz sample rate) and whilst our developers improve the overall user flow we love using Scaler within Logic on the iPad.
Please join our community at forum.scalerplugin.com for further discussion with using Scaler iPad and Logic Pro iPad. We will update these notes with known issues. For now - hope this video helps the mobile Scaler community!
Scaler iPad | Logic Pro iPad Known Issues:
    * If you are using MIDI FX please use 44.1kHz sample rate until Apple address this issue (should be soon!): developer.apple.com/forums/th...
    * To get access to the full keyboard in Scaler please flip your iPad into Portrait Mode
    * Saving a Logic Pro iPad session and exporting it to desktop Logic Pro will not recall the Scaler state. Please export Scaler state independently if you are planning on swapping between Logic Pro iPad to Logic Pro Desktop. Works the other way around no problem. Developers working on this.

Excellent video. I have used Scaler a lot, but mainly in AUM. I'm enjoying working with Logic so I'm going to give this a try. Thanks once again 😊

Is there a way to also view all the chords in a scale in a grid together (like the pad grid) instead of separated by the tabs? ( current tabs being the triad, 7ths, 9ths, 11ths etc)
It would be much easier to see them all together on the same page in a grid laid out like the pad mode. They could be separated vertically by headers of the kind (triad, 7ths etc), rather than having to click through tabs continuously to find all the chords you like

@@SchoolofSynthesis that’s great news! I was thinking it could fit well as one of the modulation presets. And my thanks to the team, I’ve really been enjoying using scaler, it’s probably my favourite compositional tool: particularly since I can keep my same workflow between logic on iPad and Mac.

I think Apple AND Akai Pro are not helping us easily use Scaler 2 in the two most wanted PORTABLE DAWs on purpose! #nomystery #mpc #logicforipad

I took the project from Logic iPad to Logic desktop and it didn't translate... everything inside of all scaler got reset when opened in logic.. and also they got reset inside of iPad as well after closing and opening the project.

Hi, see notes in the video, we are aware of the issue of saving Logic Pro iPad and opening on desktop losing scaler settings. We suggest exporting state of scaler whilst the devs get a fix out for this. The Devs didn't get any betas for Logic Pro iPad so they have worked very hard in a short period of time to get it working really well and the continue to do. There's a few quirks but that applies to many apps running in Logic Pro iPad. Not sure about the not remembering state upon quitting and reopening. Try running in 44.kHz in a vanilla project. Any further discussion or feedback please head over to forum.scalerplugin.com where the very helpful community and developers reside!

I can’t believe that you can’t use the keyboard in Scaler 2 iPad because you can’t resize it in Logic.

You can resize and you can see keyboard in vertical mode as James demonstrates in this video. The iPad version UX within Logic Pro for iPad is being worked on. Apple did not provide Logic iPad betas to developers whom had little time with it but still have enables us to work well with it.
