The Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster is the first pedal designed to work specifically with your pickups. This dynamic little boost pedal gives you up to 25db of gain as well as a resonance switch. This switch gives you three options...1-resonance is shifted down
2-3kHz. 2-Resonance is shifted down 3-5Khz. 0-Resonance is not affected. This switch is designed for use with single coil pickups. Position 1 makes them sound and respond like vintage humbuckers, position 2 makes them sound like modern, high gain humbuckers. Position 0 is a totally neutral, transparent clean boost designed for boosting your amp or your signal in a long effects chain.
The Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster could possibly be the ultimate boost pedal. When switched to "1" and engaged, it makes a Strat sound like an old SG. Thick and rich like milk chocolate. When switched to "2", your single coils take on the tone of a modern humbucker with ceramic magnets. When in the neutral position, the Pickup Booster is totally transparent and retains your true signal. In this mode the Pickup Booster is ideal for pushing the front end of your tube amp or overdrive pedal. The Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster is probably the most useful pedal you could have on your pedalboard.

I really love my pickup booster. It looks simple, but it can help in many different scenarios.

Although it's primarily designed for transforming a single into a humbucker, you could still use this as a clean boost or to darken your pickups! Thanks,
    PGS

It's a pickup booster... It takes the signal from your guitar and amplifies it (a preamp). It is most effective as the first pedal in your chain (before any distortion or effects). It will work with any amp/PA/etc... Because it's just boosting the signal from your guitar.
It won't cancel hum from single coils (Singles hum... That's one downfall). It's not a magic button for distortion (although it is nice for Blues)...
    Hope this helps.

    best review ... I'm convinced THANKS !!!
this way my Strat will stay original SSS, no humbucker (even in single coil size) needed
great playing too, I love it, southern-blues ROCKS !!!

yeah, if it's in front of the main distortion pedal or amp channel it will act as if you're using a hotter pickup (i.e. add more gain) if that's your setup it should give you more volume if you throw it in an effects loop as opposed to having in front of the amp.

if you use it with other drive or overdrive pedal, you can use with singlecoins or humbucker or P90 or as you want. The pedal is designed to use with singlecoins but you can use with a les paul for example to boost your rock sound and boost a drive cleary. I use it with my les paul and with Fulltone OCD; the sound is magnific.

@shelbyfanss it was intended to boost the preamp gain from a tube amp or a hybrid amp(amp that has tube preamp solid state power amp)hop that helped

you can use EHX Knockout to make your humbuckers sound like single coils.

I have a TT and kicking in a boost pedal simply is the same thing as rolling up the gain knob on the Tiny Terror. It'll boost the volume if it's set fairly clean, and it'll just overdrive the preamp even more if it's already dirty. It's really the same thing as having a overdrive pedal, only with an overdrive pedal you can drive it without a volume boost. You can't do that with this pedal. No matter what, you'll get a volume increase when using a boost pedal.

@TheBryanlp Depends on your reason for switching to a humbucker. If you're trying to get a humbucker sound occasionally grab one of these. If you're always going to be using it though, better go with the humbuckers, you'll be better off with the hum canceling.
    My two cents.

Well I use this pedals resonant switches to help knock a load of feedback from my single coils

Wow. You can basically make your single coil sound like a high output humbucker.

Picked one up used at Sam Ash for $29. I use it to be an extra gain stage on my Dual Rectifier. I set it up where I have 4 distinct gain levels between Channel 2 and 3. Works great. For soloing, it's a great "cheating" pedal. any alien technique you can think of, the gain is there. Great simple pedal.
