Simple math - How many transgender athletes are impacting major NCAA games? How many people do not have healthcare or cannot afford decent healthcare and are dying each day? Culture issues or real issues? There is opportunity cost in every action congress takes.
Irony is a bitch. Woman have been competing in boys sports from elementary school to high school and that’s been all good. Can’t legally keep them out of it. But if a man - trans or not - was to compete with woman than this is completely unfair and harmful to woman. What’s going to be the rule when straight men want to compete in woman’s sports?
There needs to be a discussion on the statistic of that defines the percentage of trans population ( for each gender) that performs at record/chamionship type levels, and compare that to the percentage of athletes who can compete at those levels who are gender typical. I know this is an assumption, but I would expect that the number would be considered insanely high. Perhaps that would be best to use as ammo for this argument against Trans woman in womens sports. There is not much holding them back from competing in mens sports, almost any female now who can perform well enough can be in mens sports.

I do find the NCAA standard as to what are acceptable levels of testosterone for trans athletes more that a little questionable as they require transgender athletes to receive 1yr of hormone therapy and have only 10 nmol/L testosterone. The problem is tha the average woman only has between 0.3 and 2.4 nmol/L testosterone. Not exactly a level playing field.
