My Winning FG-2900 cheek headguard doesn't move at all when I use it. I never have to readjust it while sparring.

How is the actual face part ? Is it soft and bendable or is the actual face and forehead part hard but bends ?

I always wanted this head gear but I feel like vision is heavily effected. Hooks especially upper cuts are barley to non visible

Thanks for the feedback Nick and your 100% right your not going to get the same all round vision as say an open or cheek, but generally these are very good protection when sparring against most conventional boxers although for the unorthodox hands low sparring partners that generally throw shots from all angles these can of course feel more restricted on the vision, but then saying that this would most likely be the same case for pretty much any head guard that offers you more protection around the head like the cheek or this bar, but all in all when you want to try out new things as we like to do in sparring, these will vastly limit the damage we take while trying to perfect a new change to our style & combinations.

This was my first HG I think is great for protecting nose and against cuts, but i felt it amplified impact. Went for a winning fg5000 there is really a difference. If you got the extra bucks, totally go for winning. But if not is ok as hg

Is this the traditional nylon face bar Cleto Reyes headgear or the redesigned nylon face bar version of the Cleto Reyes headgear?

Does the headgear hurt your cheekbones, I just got mine and it kinda hurts a little a feel quite a bit of pressure

    • @wayneelcockboxclever

It may sometimes when new yes, as the leather is tough and needs breaking in, but as you start to wear it in it will or should ease for you

@@wayneelcockboxclever it definitely has gotten more comfortable, I have another quick question, what tightness in the laces, velcro and chinstrap, and the position of the headgear do you recommend because I got hit a little hard on the nose bar and felt the punch on my nose a little bit

I have a big nose and I wonder if my nose won’t touch the bar. I can’t find this headgear in my city to try on. Only way is to order online from abroad.
Don’t know which one to choose the Traditional one or redesigned.

if you have your mind made up on getting a face-saver, (headgear w bar) then you should consider the redesigned version IMO. The bigger cutout opens up your field of view quite a bit compared to the original. This is crucial as it is the sole reason why so many fighters hate headgear, because it's hard to shoulder roll, look out the side of your eye, and slipping and perrying shots in general with the confinement within the headgear. Also makes your head bigger (ie) a bigger target. It will protect against cuts tho, its main purpose. Like the guy on video said, usually the cheek headgear, in other words the one without the bar, is much better all around, as you have better vision, and it keeps you honest with mistakes. The one time you want the facesaver for sure is when sparring with a broken nose, cheekbone, etc. Good luck!

@@PwrthrupN thanks for the reply PD. I’ve recently bought the traditional one, there is plenty of space between the nose and the bar, I haven’t tried it yet in sparrings, but it fits well.
The reason why I was looking for facebar headgear because I had my nose broken twice, don’t want to hang my gloves yet, therefore I think facebar headgear will be a good solution.
As you have mentioned shoulder roll are more difficult in this headgear as well as your head is a bigger target basically, so you have to adapt to it and adjust your defensive game.

    Winning or Reyes?

Its a personal preference to be honest as I used Reyes throughout my career, so would choose them every time, but both are very good and hard to split them in terms of quality and comfort.
