  • South Links Holiday Park, run by Angus Council, is a great place to stay if you find yourself in Montrose.
We stayed one night in March 2024 as part of our motorhome road trip round some of the east coast of Scotland.
You won't find luxury, but it was a good site with clean facilities and felt like it was really looked after by the people working there.
We received a friendly welcome and a small pack with information about the site, along with a barrier fob and the code for the toilets.
Although it's immediately next to the GSK factory, don't be put off. The buildings are partially hidden by the trees on site, and on our pitch (67) you wouldn't have known it was there, but for a very faint "extractor type" noise which wasn't loud and certainly wasn't intrusive.
Kerry described the facilities as "like a good public toilet" and that's probably an accurate description - basic, functional but well maintained and looked after, so please don't let that put you off. It was clear that paintwork etc was regularly updated and people took pride in looking after the facilities, with nice touches like fake plants to make it feel more homely.
The location is great - although you can't see it from the site, it's right next to the beach and there are sweeping views out to sea and across to a lighthouse. It's also an easy walk into town for its facilities.
We had a good stay and we'd come back if we were in the area. It's not necessarily one we would stay at for a week's holiday (although you could do worse given the proximity to the beach) but it was great for a stopover.
