There are SO many RPGs this year, there's bound to be something for you. There are more RPG lists too! Check out Goblin Stone on Steam here: bit.ly/GamerZakhGS [ad] Thank you!
Solid list once again - Crown Wars demo was very good. Shadow of the Road going on the watchlist, I'm a sucker for anything samurai themed.... Thank you!
Unicorn Overlord is so good. Grinded through it almost non stop, been a while since I've been so engrossed in a game like that. Crown wars was already on my radar, but there are a few on this list I'll definitely give a look also
Eiyuden Chronicle looks like a spiritual successor to Suikoden, which was inspired by the literary work Water Margin. The old game also let you have 108 heroes or at least a lot of them.
Took me a while to get into as the start is pretty slow. I'm also not really feeling like I'm building much of my army I just collect knights and listen to cliche sob stories. I'm finding no reason to actually hire troops, not even for the purpose of scouting or canon fodder, and I'm hours in already.
@@jr6366 You can hire any merc you want to fill the rank; especially if you want some crazy team comp early games like multiple Hunters or Thieves. (Honor farming is also easy, btw.) But the game will throw sooooo many named characters at you later on. Tho you cannot deploy so many squads, cuz 10 squads is max, and you need Valour to deploy them, as well as Valour to use their Skills. Story/writing is not the game strongest forte, I agree. But I'm having lots of fun with the units comp/customization.
Enjoying BEAST: FALSE PROPHET since its early access release. Dark and brutal indeed reminding me of the excellent WARTALES which came out last year and recently got a well recieved DLC. So many incredible games on this stunning list you created GamerZakh. Great to see turn based tabletop style games flourishing in all their focused gaming detail. WANTLESS: SOLACE AT WORLD'S END looks wonderfully grim and i like the mental health angle. Of course KING ARTHUR: LEGION IX is wishlisted and hope its a winner. Thanks GamerZakh for the mindshattering wallet grasping list and happy gaming! ☕
Some titles I haven't even heard of, all looking good. Beast: False Prophet looks like Wartales and Redemption Reapers. One tactical game I bought this year (not mentioned in the list) is Archaelund which was released some time January. Exploration mode is in 1st person and then turns into tactical battle system during fights.
Unicorn Overlord has some issues but its a glorious game to play and team experiment. Caught me by surprise. Really tries to rejuvenate the old ogre battle type games. Hopefully it has a sequel and comes to pc.
@13:26 Sword of Cavallaria looked great so i went in and tried the demo right away. Almost threw up when i saw the gacha mechanique. So disappointing!!
*Thanks for the video GZ. Nothing majorly takes my fancy here, unfortunately. I wanna see more pixel games like original fallouts and jagged alliance etc.* 💪👍
I've kept on seeing the sword of convallaria and think it's amazing with the gameplay, characters, and battle system. But the one thing is I'm surprised that the game isn't for the switch. 🤔
EIyuden Chronicle actually looks like its suikoden inspired (the PS1 game), with its 100+ playable characters and look. Looks interesting. Broken Alliance looks like a HoMM game. Maybe more like king's bounty. Sword of Convallaria looks interesting, but eh, F2P? I hope it won't end up with the usual monetization issues with F2P, I rather they just charge something for it. Edit: I've played the demo and I'm almost positive its going to be gacha. Shadow of the road has an interesting premise.
Man trying to find something like Xcom 2 and Wartales is hard sometimes, only a few on here might be up to it.. but lots of GRID and boring art work, i know wartales has grid movement but its not so in your face so hopefully some of these aren't either!
@@GamerZakh it's not about historical, It's the way you read the roman numbers. We love in the XXI century, but the centuries are 20, because XXI is ordinal. When we spoke about the last century we call it twenyth, but if you read an history book is written XX.
@@michelebaiano4271 Yes I understand, but if you're googling for a product, searching "ninth legion" or "9th legion" will not get you this game. This game is called "legion eye ex", as a product and branding. In game, sure dialogue can say "ninth legion". Presenting a product, it's as branded.
That means half the people who play it recommend it. Judge for yourself, I enjoyed it when I streamed it. Pharaoh A New Era sponsored me and people said "lol 50%". Now about a year later it's at 72% and people stopped being snarky about it. Games are subjective, don't let a number decide things for you. EDIT: Reading the user reviews, the vast majority of negative reviews are because of bugs. I didn't encounter any bugs in my 3 hours of gameplay, so I recommended it, but you can just wait for the bugs to be fixed and then the user reviews will trend more positive if you really need a number to tell you what to do. There's already been one hotfix.
I find Goblin Stone to be amazing fun. It has some annoying bugs which requires you to restart the game. That's really annoying but at least the game autosaves alot so you don't lose much at worst like 1 minute or so maybe.
There's a reason why games like BG3 are so rare. A passionate team that managed to raise 100 million dollars with no publisher controlling things and they didn't mismanage it? That almost never happens. Generally you have to pick 2: 1. Passionate/talented devs 2. AAA budget 3. No publisher messing with things The only way to get all 3 is if it's successfully Kickstarted and there's early access over the course of many years.
@@GamerZakh That's weird, I left that comment on a different video! Haha, it was full of terrible news! .. Nope, nothing but excitement for these games!
I've already listed Tactical Strategy games and I'm planning to do a dedicated Turn-based Tactical Strategy list. You're just more interested in a different genre.
None of these look very good tbh. Maybe in 2002, when graphics weren't quite there yet, controls being sloppy was tolerable, and content was unchecked. Goblin Stone is a perfect example of a complete flop. Negative reviews on steam, 50% of players unable to get past the first level due to bugs. If any of these games were sub $5, that would be a different thing, but they don't, almost all have/will be $25+++. Hard no
Goblin Stone is amazing fun but it has some annoying bugs that require you to restart the game to fix but I assume they will be fixed soon as they seems to be minor issues from those I have encountered and thanks to the regular autosaving you usually only lose like a minute of game play.
Every year for every genre I cover for the last 10 years someone has said this on every single list. And then there are always great games people love.
Why do most of these games such outdated graphics and look so bad. With so many Free AI tools, one can create amazing art, models and animations that are AAA quality right? I dont get it
Well no you can't really. AI art is not AAA quality and there's a ton of legal risks. Steam doesn't allow AI art on the store if it's been trained on copyrighted materials and most places won't host your game because the risk of being sued. AI doesn't make new things, it only remixes what it's trained on, and every use of AI art so far in commercial products has been instantly recognised as AI art, so it stands out badly. Even if you can't spot AI art, a lot of people can and it makes the game feel lazy and ripped off.

Several games I had not heard about. Thanks for sharing!

Cool, thanks for finding these. Zodiac Legion looks like my kind of game
Some of my favorite videos/channel. Appreciate these lists. Definitely had a few I didn’t know about, thanks

I can see your content really improving lately, good job!
Eiyuden Chronicle looks like a spiritual successor to Suikoden, which was inspired by the literary work Water Margin. The old game also let you have 108 heroes or at least a lot of them.
It's from the same creators
108 stars of destiny plus secret characters
Unicorn Overlord is a fantastic game. If you have played Ogre Battle and OB64 before, (Symphony of War too) this is your game.

Damn, I have not manage to finish King Arthur: The Knights Tale yet...
what a nice list ! thank you
I’m grinding Unicorn Overlord for almost a week.
Yeah that's blown up, it looks really good.
I've been enjoying watching videos of it and I'm a fan of the game style. Reminds me of Ogre battle meets final fantasy tactics. 😂
Don't sleep on Unicorn Overlord, guys. It's a true labour of love on the devs' part and is genuinely amazing.
too bad Vanillaware hate pc gamers

Shadow of the road has an interesting premise.
what was that little beyblade game at 7:45, between the 4th and 5th game?
Thats part of Eiyuden, a mini game in that.
Goblin Stone is fantastic!
Essentially Unicorn Overlord and Grand Arms are Ogre-likes since they're pretty much replicating the style of Ogre Battle.
Yeah if they keep making games like that it's gonna become a new subgenre.
It would be great to show if the games are pc only or also on consoles :)
I wish there were more games like Ogre battle. Unicorn Overlord is amazing but it’s not on PC.
I am hyped for SoC and u miss in your video C.A.R.D.S. it's fit perfect here too.

If you're looking for an XCOM type game I'm also working on a dedicated turn-based strategy tactics list which should be out later this month.
You should earn a commission for each game you feature that gets wishlisted 😀
Haha if only, best I got is the GOG referral link.

Grand Arms looks like ass visually, but the Welsh fucking up England? I'm in.
eiyuden chronicle hundred heroes best game i have played in the last 10 years

It's ninth legion! The romans numbers are read ordinal not cardinal
But that's not what it's called as a video game product. The historical ninth legion is one thing. This 'Legion IX' video game is another.

Everyone has, we're all just waiting for it to release. It's not a tactical RPG though.
What about Menace?
I got that in my tactics and strategy list. Not sure how 'RPG' that's gonna be.
grand arms and unicorn overlord are rts with pause. not really turn based. also i dont think battle ogre is a thing. ogre battle is, and its awesome.
