    I love doing things like this. Your pokemon really don't have to be that great-but if your opponent has no idea what you're doing and can't predict what you're doing, you can sweep with unexpected strategies.

      Man thats so true, back when fire red n leafgreen could transfer up to oras, I would use counter/mirror coat swampert n had a guy immediately quit

    • @stephenrussell762

      Back when talonflame was everywhere in gen 6 I ran a rindo (or whichever berry it is for flying) berry on a serperior which could then tank a brave bird even after stealth rock damage and then hit it with the hidden power rock to KO it, caught everyone off guard

    • @Robin93k
      @Robin93k 10 месяцев назад +1

      My favourite unpredictable set was a slow/bulky Swampert with SR/EQ/Hammer arm/Avalanche during a time where every Swampert had Waterfall (and usually Ice Punch for Ice Coverage)
      The fact that the opponents always tried to play around Waterfall until they've seen all Moves basically made it like I actually had 5 Moves.

    They really need to make an alternate Gyarados that's a special attacker.

    • @Exivious4556
      @Exivious4556 10 месяцев назад +43

      Milotic has the same bst and its stats have the same grouping just under different stats as gyarados. It just lacks the flying typing and intimidate. While not the same, I don't see them making a special attacking gyarados anytime soon. I believe that was their intention with milotic.

    • @johnmartinez7440
      @johnmartinez7440 10 месяцев назад +14

      We call that Gen 1 Gyarados

    • @kaotic300
      @kaotic300 10 месяцев назад +14

      maybe they can replace the red gyarados in the lake of rage with a special attacking "bloodmoon form" the next time johto gets remade? 🤔

    • @linksora7120
      @linksora7120 8 месяцев назад +6

      Milotic is the gyrados special attacking alternative: a serpentine water type with the same exact base stats, evolves from a weak fish Pokémon, both have a way of improving their defence through abilities (gyrados gets intimidate to lower opponent attack and milotic has marvel scale for defence boost under status ailment), milotic and gyrados both also have another ability that boosts their best attack stats (gyrados gets moxie as a hidden ability which boosts attack when it knocks a Pokémon out while milotic gets competitive as a normal ability which boosts special attack if its stats are lowered), the only difference is that milotic is pure water while gyrados is part flying but that’s honestly a buff for milotic since water flying is super weak to electric while milotic can fight electric and grass types better

    • @AnimaLepton
      @AnimaLepton 6 месяцев назад

      Milotic is among the few Pokemon that really hate the Physical/Special split. 100 Sp Atk is solid, but 125 Sp Def was particularly fantastic back when it was introduced and all Grass + Electric type moves were considered electric. Water types are inherently pretty good, but with only the 2x weakness combined with the high SpDef, it could shrug off its so called weaknesses easily.

    Haydunn shows that teams filled with stacked mons aren’t what make a player good (although it certainly helps) - it’s much more about understanding each team’s capabilities, and having the situational awareness to come up with a strategy to make things work, no matter how bad things are.
    Good shit, man

    Ah, Gyarados. I figured its moveset was messed up by the physical/special split of gen 4, but upon some research all the "element" types and dragon were special moves at the time too. Seems the thing that really did it was its 100 special stat turning into only 60 spatt in gen 2 compared to its 125 physical attack. In gens 2 and 3 that really hurt it because almost all of the good moves it knew were special types. Nowadays it learns a lot more physical moves so the issue is much less noticeable but all those special moves are still available despite being pretty bad options in comparison

    I used to have a flygon that used sp attack move set. Gen 4 era. Earth power can be learned by trapinch. I did that to mostly confuse classmates. I had 3 flagons and I would switch them up so they would never know what I’m using. But later they figured out if I’m using a sp attacker flygon on a grass type or ice type they’ll know I have flamethrower thus it’s they figured out what I’m using. Or if I switched knowing sp defense is low opponent team they figured it’s sp attack flygon.
    Yeah flygon is my favorite. I had physical, special, and support.
    Support is also one of my favorite. I would use Draco meteor(or solar beam), uturn, sunny day(or earthquake), and defog. Sunny day if for my other pokemon not for my solar beam flygon. Though I did try it but flygon is to fragile.

    I like your ideas, I just think your prediction needs a little work. You also overthink what your opponent is going to do too much (an example of this was you thinking he was gonna put a near dead Clefable to sleep instead of knocking it out from that range, even if you had Wish on it, Breloom still outspeeds and will definitely KO), remember, you're going in with a strategy very few people use or even know about, frankly, most people would rather not go with something like this. The pattern most people follow is the regular one of: High Attack means Physical attacker, or limited physical movepool means special attacker, etc
    If you would have kept that Tbolt secret and not used it on that Rotom, that Dondonzo would've been dead the very next turn, at that point, you could've just used Ice Beam on it and you would've done the same amount of damage without being too revealing about your Gyarados' moveset. Ice Beam on a Gyarados is not as strange as Tbolt. I love what you're doing here cause I've always hated metas and tiers, they've made the game boring and repetitive for me. When I do strategies like these, they make me fall in love with competitive pokemon all over again, so kudos my friend 👍
