But she found an Umbreon at build-a-bear and fell completely in love with the design. Now we play pokemon go together and she was so happy to evolve her Eevee into an Umbreon for the first time.

I love Umbreon so much, I know everyone uses its as a supportive tank but its one of those Pokemon that can just do the weirdest stuff if you want. I've done curse with payback back in the day and even did a calm mind set that fights with stuff like dark pulse or psychic.
I did curse, payback, toxic, wish back in the day. Swept some people after curse gets set up. Toxic and wish when you can/need. Sassy nature to boost spdef even more max evs in spdef and def. 4 in hp
@@IronwolfXVImaxing both defenses seems horribly suboptimal with umbreons defenses both being higher than their HP stat. Also IIRC wish healing depends on the wish users HP even if wish is healing someone else.

I beg to differ sir , starting in gen 4 I ran an umbreon with curse, payback, sucker punch and snatch with leftovers/ blackglasses . To this day is my favorite version of umbreon to run. Stops set up and is very hard to kill once a couple curses happen. It won me many matches once I could dispatch of any fighting types
Love the videos! I recommend messing around with a sun team with chlorophyll, life orb, Leafeon with Solar Blade. Been using that lately and having a blast with it!

Great battles! Loved to see some older Pokemon shine; Ambipom and Umbreon felt like game changers in the competitive world back in the day. Ambipom's guaranteed flinches were great for set ups and stalling in double battles and really brought anti-flinch builds to the forefront. Umbreon's Curse + Quick Attack combination used to devastate and I feel like it's probably the reason Taunt really got popular lol.
19:20 Sacred Sword actually ignores the target's stat changes, so putting up more curses wouldn't have done anything and the same damage would have been dealt regardless. Tera Fairy was the right move.
I'm not a competitive battler but I love Umbreon. So I'm taking this moveset and adding my own touch onto it; Making it tera water instead of tera fairy cuz i dont have a water type and it might come in handy! Nice! I used to use the Curse set, absolutely! Its always a nice Defensive mon! I went with Curse + Payback, Moonlight & Toxic! Of c, Umbreon lost Toxic, but there's plenty of other options! It definitely doesn't see as much Stall as it used to but it is still putting in some solid work!

Losing suckerpunch because of the SV moveset resets made me have to attempt a retech since suckerpunch is a hgss move tutor exclusive. Tried poison tera which was nice in dodging toxics, however i like this set quite a bit more
As someone who’s used a offensive team my entire time playing pokemon, using a supporting Umbreon has honestly been so fun, I love how long it can stay on the field and lower others offensive using snarl lmao It’s just such a nice switch up from my typical glass canon set up, esp with Tera poison toxic! Idk the best set for a Umbreon but I’m working on making my own personal set lmao
I remember trying something similar to this not too long ago, though I was running a Calm Mind Variant, considering Umbreon has some really good Special Coverage.

Umbreon is my favorite Pokemon and I've been working with sweeper Umbreon for years. Payback with Curse is probably the better option than Throat Chop since it essentially guarantees you go second, though Throat Chop would be better if you were running Trick Room to let it go first.
I did an offensive umbreon back in black and white days. EV for bulk. DEF, HP, A FEW IN SPDEF ITEM: LEFTOVERS SWAGGER WISH FOUL PLAY PROTECT just swagger enemy and foul play to KO. Wish and protect when needed. The confusion from swagger really helps to control the pace of everything. Not sure how terra changes things now. Maybe just dark terra to mkae foul play hit even harder.
I like that you're experimenting with individual sets on pokemon. I'm curious to see what you would cook up with more synergistic strategies between members of your team like eject pack mon 1 to copycat from mon 2 for example.

Fun Fact: If you would really put in the effort, you could get an Umbreon with Knock Off in Gen 4 thanks to Move Tutors and then transfer it to the newer Gens (excluding Gen 9 because of Pokémon Home resetting the learnsets)
You want a truly powerhouse of a Umbreon? I did something cool back in the day. Put a macho brace on a lvl5 evee and evolve it to Umbreon. Have it keep these moves. Confuse ray, last resort, assurance, and payback. You could also switch out last resort with moonlight if you want it to be less raw power and more sustain. This is a time investment for sure. Make sure to max out vitamin types at every step. The only thing that can really take this thing out is fighting type attacks. It is a tank that just hits harder if you hit it or hit yourself depending on what you feel like doing😂.
So long as Umbreon isn’t Tera Ghost, the only Cursed thing is having a much slower reaction speed, to increase Attack & Defense, as good thing the Pumpkaboo line aren’t in SV (Generation IX).
At first glance yes the way to go in gen 2 was to put curse on it and go to town, but moves such as roar and whirlwind made this strategy unreliable especially with Skarmory all around the place I guess the meta now has not many of these counters so it could work.
Haydun please use eviolite Nosepass it has a base 600 defense with eviolite and over 1000 with one iron defense. Pair that with body press and a solid 350 special defense (and pain split) and this thing NEVER dies

I used Umbreon quite a bit during X and Y back when you still had access to Payback and Return. Still glad it sees regular use in Raid setups.
