Staraptor being the first early route bird to have a very good coverage move against both rocks, steels and ice types makes it forever a hero in my eyes for giving the birds hope. (Edited to address my mistaken claim initially, sorry everyone for that)
There are only three fully evolved Pokémon in Paldea that have both the Normal and Flying type, and one of them doesn't evolve until level 54 and so couldn't have been on his gym team (though it's pre-evolution technically could have been). So there are literally only two Pokémon in the entirety of Paldea that could have been on both teams; Squawkabilly and Staraptor.
I'm not saying it's the future meta or anything, but in any singles format where there's a lot of gliscor I find it hilarious to have some mon with skill swap and take its poison heal from it xD
Staraptor (in my experience) can really only run one move set for the most part (double edge or tailwind but still very limiting) but the item and ability combo allows it to be a menacing pivot or a lategame sweeper with dangerous coverage. And since it's an unexpected pokemon, you'll usually find success catching people off guard with its potential.
Staraptor in PU is some absolute mind-melting stuff. In no way should murderbird be in the same tier as the goofy@ss Goodra. This gen's tiers are ba-nan-as.
Sky Shaymin would be an interesting under used legendary to do a feature on, especially being able to cheese for flinches with kings rock and serene grace / air slash
I wouldn't say greatest, but it absolutely set the bar. Pelipper needed divine power to rise up afterwards, Talonflame shows they learned their lesson a bit, then Corviknight was another great one. I'd put Staraptor in top 3 easily, though.
Yo, put some respect on Toucannon. He's no favorite of mine, really, but skill link rock blast and bullet seed, plus beak blast. That is an interesting early bird as well.
Toucannon is seriously underrated. Slower, but it has the same attack stat as Staraptor and Beak blast is a guaranteed burn for physical attackers if they make contact too
Staraptor and Swellow have always been my favorite early route birds. It got bodied in the anime by Paul’s Drapion but glad to see it getting some love again🔥
Paul is just cracked. That Drapion was cold as hell 😭 Grabbing Staraptor and slamming it into the toxic spikes it set. PAUL SMACK DOWN WAS INTRODUCED IN GEN 5!!!
@@zacmayes2802 I’m Saying😂 dude dodged a move that never misses, grabs Staraptor hits it with cross poison then slams my boy into the toxic spikes just vicious😂

Haydunn out here showing that all mons deserve respect and im totally here for it! Love the vids man, keep up the great work! Always a banger especially when there 2 battles in 1 video!
I was the first fight and was still fine tuning the team and this staraptor absolutely made me wanna make a team with him in it. Honestly want a rematch
Staraptor is fine BUT Guts Swellow it's nuts with that STAB on Facade it's just chef kiss. Pair it with Rain dance or sunny day and you have a sweeper setter that can come in and out with U-turn and protect... This thing can be interesting in Doubles...
i like ur vids because its easy edits, unlike some other rawer youtubers ones that feel like they waste my time, definitely recommend your channel to my friends
I've always called this thing 'deathbird'. Because when it gets sent out, something will die. Granted, the joke is because it's got so many recoil and defense lowering moves, it might be that something. (98% brave bird into a blissey, takes 100% damage. XD) Either way, easily my favorite out of all the early game basic birds. Most of them become meh later on in the game, this one opens it's final evolution with close combat!
I still have my original staraptor from way back when, I was only four or so when diamond came out. I just straight up called him death... Or rather, "Deaf" 😂. 4 year old me would have to wait a while until he could unleash properly spelled nicknames unto this world.
Man, love ur vids. Inpired by your good and interesting builds I made my own team with only loved pokemons its: Meowscarada, Spidops, Oinkologne, Talonflame, Pawmot and of course Azumaril. It was hard at first to set them up, but later i adopted and started win a lot of games. Thank you bro for your inspiration.
I like the idea of sending him back to the Cheetoh Realm. Kinda fun to think about. Hellsalad, Wanda (even though she isn't water type), I always love the names.
The second match was one of the coolest to watch. The first half and the second half look like different games. The first half has the Tera and they both come at the same time (which is sick), and then they die and the second half is breaking through stall without gimmicks. It’s like to different matches almost because the pokemon in the first half disappear in the second. Pretty sick.
Ive been using a team of Skeledirge (tera water,) Infernape (tera electric,) Masquerain, Staraptor, Corviknight, and Kilowattrel. Its been winning me matches pretty consistently.
Dude, if you haven't already, I'd like to see you pull some shenanigans off with Toadscruel or Wugtrio. Both are some wacky reinvisionings of some first genners that I always thought deserved more love (obv. Dugtrio & Tentacruel)
I feel like Staraptor has a decent toolkit to go completely mental in the lategame but it keeps being overlooked on account of it being an earlygame bird. But Pelipper managed to ascend so there is some hope ^^
I played a tournament where you were given random teams at Liverpool Regionals 2023 and got scarfed Final Gambit Staraptor in one of my teams lmao (it goes so hard)
