    Thank you Scott. As an addict in recovery myself, I've known more than one fellow sufferer who decided "one last time" and not survived. Usually someone's partner or roommate goes away for a weekend and they figure, ok, one last time, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. For whatever reason they od, and are found on the kitchen or bathroom floor. There but for the grace of God go I. Soaking in hot water is bad for people on drugs. Just ask Whitney or her daughter. Happy 2024 Scott! Have a great New Year.

      Hot water is bad for heart problems, lung problems, suboxone, benzos, and especially after exercise in anyone over 45. I was on opiates for 25 years and really shouldn't be here, dozens of my friends aren't here. Sounds like his assistant left and he took more subs/ketamine and passed out and drowned

      I can see him really enjoying the hot tub having anxiety, hot and cold water seems to be the only things that seem to help some when I have anxiety. But now I'm kind of scared that it could be dangerous for the heart specially if you have anxiety and health issues. Though Matt was intoxicated, that was probably the biggest problem in this case.

      I am a recovering opiate addict and I took a hot bath while on fentanyl patches and od'd. I had actually removed my last patch 12 hours earlier,as I was trying again to kick cold turkey. If my ex hadn't uncharacteristically woken up around 1:30, I would have been gone. I was blue and she kept me from nodding off for more than a minute for the next day. Hot baths can definitely be an added danger to addiction.

    I went up to his house the day after his death. I was jealous of him because I’d seen him years back after AA meetings in the Palisades at breakfast being fawned on and worshiped by some of the AA members. Meanwhile, I’ve stayed sober for 24 years now. No drugs, no alcohol, no meds no cigarettes, eating health food doing yoga doing my best and not having any money! What a world.

    Geezus. The Drs over medicated this man. As a dental hygienist, those were not his natural teeth. That’s a full upper denture. It effected his speech as seen in previous interviews the last few years. He may have not been wearing it and possible he had some mandibular teeth. Smoking does cause bone loss, especially on the maxilla ( upper jaw) and bone holds the teeth. Being a heavy smoker, he lost his upper teeth.

      @@lotstodo veneers are like fake nails that are out over the nail, but for the teeth. The teeth have to be present to have a veneer placed over the top. We can do so much with teeth but the jaw bone and the gum that covers the bone are the foundation, like a house has a foundation. If there is a problem with the foundation, you have problems with the house. Simply put, gum disease is the loss of jaw bone usually associated with an infection. It’s a silent process until it’s more advanced. If we could cure it we wouldn’t have to make dentures. All we can do is try to control it and it’s expensive and difficult to do

    He had COPD, he was on weight loss drug, he was in warm water & had a high Ketamine content in his blood. Its just sad. Its so easy to see someone beat their addiction & get free from them, but what getting clean doesnt renew is all the physical toll many years of use & abuse of said substances do to a person physically & mentally over time. It would seem he was trying over & over & over to reach this goal & only to die after 18 mons of sobriety is such a tragedy. I hope he found the peace in death that alluded him in life & that he knows he is loved, appreciated & will be missed by so many. I dont think Ive ever heard a celebrity be so upfront about addiction as Matthew was in his book. It wasnt pretty & at a time when so many are trying to "appear" to have a perfect life via social media it was really courageous of him. He had said he wanted to be remembered as someone who helped people over his fame as Chandler Bing. He was humble & honest & those are rarities especially in Hollywood. ❤

    I take Subutex myself. After a long history of opiate addiction. It is the form of buprenorphine that does NOT contain the ingredient that DETERS opiate use/abuse (Naloxone). I believe Mr. Perry couldn't take the form that contains naloxone because of his ketamine therapy. That would have made him sick I believe, even tho ketamine is NOT considered an opiate.

    Great breakdown, as always. We leave the EKG stickers on the body because it's a potential crime scene, and it has to be documented in every fashion on what we did coming into the scene (evidence preservation, destruction, and the new evidence we leave). We have to check with the EKG to ensure that the person is indeed dead. The Dr performing the autopsy is going to note everything, or should. No Dr will give you a time of death without an EKG with the patient in asystole (flat line). In other words, they did not try to save Mr. Perry. They were trying to get a time of death.
    I'm struggling with this report a bit because I still don't think he drowned. The findings on scene and in the autopsy do not support this, either. They say "likely drowning," so they're afraid to commit 100% to that idea. Drowning victims do not float, and you can tell if they drowned in fresh or salt water during the autopsy. If anything, suffocation would be the contributing factor. If he went unconscious and went face first into the water, he wouldn't have drowned, but the water would have suffocated him. Same difference to most people, but we need accurate data to make improvements.
    I've been to many calls for service where it was clearly a crime scene, and the decedent was not coming back. Once a time of death is obtained, there's a loud "everyone out and sign the logbook. Do not touch anything." Generally, all agencies there are allowed to take their equipment that is vital to get them back into service, but the trash and EKG stickers stay along with any other intervention in place at the time. Anytime someone dies outside of a clinical setting, we will investigate until proven it's not a crime (at home hospice not included unless you call 911 instead of the nurse). Thanks for explaining the fire ants, too!
    Have a happy new year!

      Can you help me clarify something, please? You said MP most likely suffocated, not 100% drowned due to his body floating. Can you clarify what he would have went through if suffocated in the water?
      Also, maybe I missed this part, did they find water in his lungs, etc?

    • @holycats8
      @holycats8 5 месяцев назад +4

      @@kimm2265 If he suffocated by the water, there would be a couple of ways he would have gone through it. Mainly two. Depending upon his tolerance to ketamine he could have either fallen unconscious and went face first. His lungs, which are weakened by the COPD, would still try to breathe. The water would block the air, and he would likely get some water into his lungs. They did find some water in the lungs, I don't remember how much, and they're charging for the autopsy report now. They did not find much water in his lungs, I know that, and the froth comes with most dead people. If he went this way, he would have been unconscious and not known or suffered. There is a very bad opposite to this, though. If his tolerance was high enough to where he got stuck in a " K hole," he would have been conscious but unable to move. If this happened, he would have known he was dying, and there's nothing he could do to stop it.
      I forgot to add this to my original comment. His amputated finger was noted and said to be healed to document that happened at a different time. I literally could go on for days on ways he may have died and that he should not have been on ketamine at all. Ketamine is a very good medical treatment, but he had too many contraindications for it.

    • @kimm2265
      @kimm2265 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@holycats8 Thank you so much for the clarification. My son did tell me about the K hole. I sure hope that's not what happened. What a horrible death that would be. MP just couldn't catch a break in this life.
      You mentioned that actual drowning victim wouldn't float. A friend of mine son (3 years old) drowned in a pool and he was found at the bottom as you said. Is that due to the amount of water in his body?

    30mg of Subutex is a massive dose, the maximum dosage in the UK is normally 32mg with anything over 28mg being considered pointless depending on body mass so the poor chap was obviously still struggling with opiates or being seriously over medicated. When I went on the stuff I found I needed between 8-16mg to feel comforatable coming off between 0.5g and 1g of high grade (white) heroin a day and I'm a 200lb male. Ketamine can be taken by just about any route of administration though injecting or snorting are the most common and mixed with such a high dosage of Subutex really quite risky. This was very interesting and well presented, as well as sad.

      I noticed that too and I work in addiction medicine. When he said 30mg, I nearly dropped my phone! That is an unnecessary dose-we give people coming off of Fent & heroin dosing around 12-16mg for initial maintenance, and that’s immediately post-detox! I can’t for the life of me comprehend who would need a dose that high.
