- Most of the Match of the Day episode broadcast on 10th December 1988, which showed highlights from the FA Cup second round - Kettering v Bristol Rovers and Altrincham v Halifax, plus brief highlights of Yeovil v Torquay and Bognor v Cambridge United and the goals from Reading v Maidstone. Includes the FA Cup third round draw and an introduction from Frank Sidebottom.
RIP Robbie Cooke. You will be missed. Brought great joy to me during that FA Cup run. Loved working with you at Thomas Cook and Travelex, too.
Real football, I can almost smell it, the pitch the stands, spectators on a damp FA Cup 2nd Round weekend. Des & Jimmy, a cup of tea & a simpler life. Thanks RUclips & Posters.
Thanks for this
I was at Kettering v Bristol Rovers- The only time I saw my dad go crazy at a match when Robbie Cooke's second went in.
Lee Richardson of Halifax Town went on to have a great career with Watford, Blackburn Rovers,Aberdeen and Oldham Athletic.
Frank Stapleton was one of the first players to receive the FA's 'hold the bag for the Cup draw' disciplinary punishment.
