    I have just followed this repair video on exactly the same issue. I can say now the repair is 100% complete. Thank you.

    Clear pictures, clear commentary! Your intelligence is matched by your resilience (when the circuit board mount cracked) and both are exceeded by your painstaking thoroughness. Also, showing your mistakes is very helpful! In July 2021, replacing both inner taillights costs about 800 dollars just for parts. So you saved us DIY types 800 dollars; owners taking this problem to a dealer will pay double that. Many, many thanks.

    Excellent video, you have more patience than I would ever have. Your video gave me the confidence to really tackle this problem myself. Thanks.

    What a great video, well done and thank you for sharing. I will be definitely doing this on my car lights as a preventive measure. Thanks again. 😊

    I think after removal of lens from car, submerge lens in a box of rice to suck all the moisture out and then just apply silicone around the edge of lens to seal it and you are done.

      Clever solution that I think would work for light moisture. But would it work for a couple of ounces, or more, of water within the housing? Also, what about water spots on the inside of the lens?

    And someone says Yugo is the worst car... At least it has better tail lights :D

    Is it worth doing this if the lights no longer come on, or just buy new lights?

      Sealing the light housing will only prevent moisture and water ingress. It will not solve the lights not working. If it were me, I would remove the lights and see if I can repair the electrics inside, which may be caused by water damage, lose wire, or led bulb failure (which is rare). Else, replace the lights but seal the edge as done in the video. Hope this helps.

    Audi should hang their heads in shame..... These lights are total shit........ All the a8 owners know it, nothing but trouble. We've all been there. Audi should sell em at cost price to save our pain.

      Ivan, good idea. I have noticed other car brands offer significantly reduce costs on replacement parts of known poor original quality or high failure rate. Honda is actually very good about this and it makes sense for long-term consumer satisfaction. Audi - you listening???

    I guess this is what i need to do😆 Damn Audi had to cheap out on the plastics on their most expensive car (at the time they where made) 8 wasted enough money on used tail lights, they arent any better!!! Dont waste money on used once people!! Just listen!

    • @galco9836
      @galco9836  3 года назад

      BAM, yes I too was surprised by how brittle the plastic has become. While not unusual for a 15+ year old car, still disappointing. Sometimes you have to be creative and come up with work arounds to keep your favorite ride as a daily. If you're able to find a clean used set and do the solution in the video as a preventative measure, you should be good for the longer term. Hope this helps!

      Its a government mandate to have recycled plastics in all German cars. They degrade too quickly.

      saw just the lens on eBay once but it was used. Not aware of a new lens option. If you find one, please post as others would likely want to know. Problem is you would still have to seal it like in the video so why not just do it with the original lens?
