I dont know if you'll reply to this, but worth a shot. Do you guys make one or be willing to modify one to fit in a suzuki samurai axle? Or are they just too small?
You did a wonderful job NOT showing us what you're hammering at around 4:20 (the "non" 3/8th bolt bushings ... otherwise, mostly great video, thank you 😊👍👌
I really wish you guys had more lockers. I have a hard time understand why you guys carry lockers for the d30 and d35 but not a gm 14 bolt. Or the Dana 70. I dont understand the logic behind that. The gm 10 bolt is like the d35 garbage same with the d30 why spend close to 2g on a locker for a weak axle. Would love to see a gm14 or Dana 70 more one ton applications
We are currently working on designs for more of the 1 ton axles. There is a substantial demand for the lockers that we currently make. I'm inclined to agree with your statement, however not everyone is looking for a locker for hardcore off-road use. It does seem like more and more people are understanding the need for the heavier duty axles, and the demand is becoming larger to be sure.
dana 30 and dana 35 ARE trash. had one of each in a jeep grand cherokee. both went bad got noisey had pitted bearings. replaced, were still noisey. common problem
We do not recommend one because the clearance between the shift fork in the cover and the lock ring on the carrier is optimized without the gasket thickness.
@@corksauve4949 Yes it actually was, the closer the fork to the lock ring without touching the better. If we optimized with the gasket installed when someone installed without a gasket just using RTV the fork would bind with lock ring. The difference is pretty insignificant it really doesn't matter gasket or not.
Mate you can have the correct backlash but that does in anyway mean the gears are meshing correctly how many diffs have you destroyed with people not setting them correctly like you have ?
Couldn't tell you for sure how many we have destroyed, we haven't heard of any yet, but by the current video views it could be as many as 198,512. This is not a ring and pinion setup instructional video it is a general information video to show the process of installing a locker which just switches out the carrier without messing with the pinion setup and assumes a proper gear setup prior to disassembly. There are many details not in the video in the interest of not making a 2 hour video. The locker comes with a complete set of instructions that covers everything. If you need any help with your setup let us know we would be glad to help.
It doesn't really make much difference, a gasket can be used. The only reason we make the recommendation is the gasket moves the cover and fork assembly away from the lock ring that it engages in. With no gasket the distance is closer optimum. The closer the fork is to the lock ring without radial contact the better. Honestly the small distance is fairly insignificant. If I have a choice between a nice reusable gasket like a lube locker style or the silicone would run the gasket.
It would be nice to have the fitting on top, however to maintain compatibility between the shifting systems the location remains in the same place. Some people fashion a guard over the port for added protection.
It will still work fine if you use a gasket, the reason we do not recommend one is the clearance between the shift fork in the cover and the lock ring on the carrier is optimized without the gasket thickness. Honestly it will work fine either way.
Yes assuming your speaking of the example in the video. A pneumatic switch is supplied to port the air to the cover for locking, and throwing the switch to unlock will release the pressure to allow the return springs in the locker to unlock it.
Hi guy. I have Chinese pick up Foton Tunland. It has Dana 44. This OX diff locker is universal for all models of Dana 44 or it has different models too?
Its hard to say We have seen some differences in the past. The main thing we would need to see is if the differential cover has the same bolt pattern. If that is the same it usually is no problem.
Is there a manually/cable operated ox locker for mitsubishi l200 2004 4x4 2.5l turbo diesel, k74 chassis. Might also be know as the Strada: Thailand made vehicle , popular in Australia and the UK.
I'm trying to avoid air lockers. They just seem unreliable if your compressor goes out. These seem good until your in the middle of nowhere! Not sure about these.
Our air shift system has a fail safe device that can be used in the event of an air system failure check it out ruclips.net/video/tYPjhh30HsI/видео.html
@3:24 he said “you can chip the teeth easily as the material is very hard”! If the metal composition is hard, it should not be chipped easily. Remember the pinion is the one that pounding those ring gears through many off-road/on-road scenario

If you are going to spend time to do something and record for RUclips make it by the book as possible I feel there is a 16 year old out there that will take it seriously I am not trying to trash you personally it is what it is.
"Should be ok" is the spec I always go with.
I thought the same
I love the simplicity of the manual/cable locker. Seems bullet proof, and much easier on the pocket book as well.
8 Years on and still good quality video!
The ox with cable locker would be the best I think, no airline or electric to foul and once it’s engaged no slop
That's what I'm thinking fewer moving parts. Nothing electrical or pneumatic.
Except the air actuated version has no slop either
thanks for the video helps one understand the workings and how they do the job.
Always make sure you are standing in-between the camera and the object. It keeps the viewer in the dark.
Could you get by without the cable? Keeping it open on the road and use the bolt to lock it when you’re on the trail?
amazing video ox are the best for me
Time to stop looking at youtube videos and internet threads I´ve found what im looking for
Glad to hear it!

We do not recommend one because the clearance between the shift fork in the cover and the lock ring on the carrier is optimized without the gasket thickness.

OX LOCKERS for Dana 70?
I have a 2016 JKUR, and my front locker is starting to go. How often are the shims not good to go on an install like this?
this is best of both lockable diff
but is it better than ARB or E-lockers well a user of all three can make a better comment
What brand of vehicles are these made for?
Almost any Jeep product, and many other axles. You can find our application guide here ox-usa.com/content/15-vehicle-applications
awesome video
Why do you recommend using silicone instead of a gasket when installing the diff cover?

@@OxOffRoad Good video. Would've liked to see the air actuator for the fork inside the cover.
How about that 14 bolt version that's been promised for over 10 years?
Why must we not use a gasket to seal the cover of this diff?
It will still work fine if you use a gasket, the reason we do not recommend one is the clearance between the shift fork in the cover and the lock ring on the carrier is optimized without the gasket thickness. Honestly it will work fine either way.
using a fine bead of right stuff gasket maker is better anyways.

The Ox locker can be manually operated, as well as electrically or pneumatically, depending entirely on the shifting system it is installed with.

Not sure what your axle is, but it would likely be easier to swap out the whole axle assembly with a Dana 44 or OX compatible axle assembly
