But I would even go further and say it’s true. Yes, Walter is in over his head, but he’s still a hardened criminal. He has at this point killed two people and ordered a hit on one. The real distinction between Walt’s mind and reality is he believes he is badass/cool for the things he’s done, and that’s where his true delusion lies.

And Mike being aware that his career in part relies on him being a scary brute has nobody to talk about it now, Victor being the only person he could be honest with.
So that's why Mike snapped so easily and punched Walt when being asked to help him kill Gus. If that has to be done, he wants to be the one doing it. Not the amateur Walter!

Exactly. Her brain is telling her to take the kids and run. She knows she should. But her heart is telling her to stay because she still loves Walt and her family and doesn't want to destroy them both by leaving. She goes to the four corners to let fate decide, but even after it tells her TWICE to the exact same state to do what her brain is telling her, she decides to follow her heart and go back to Walt. This has always felt like peak pathos to me. Walt trying to convince Skylar (and himself) that he's in control of things when really all his plans fail and only his reactions save him. Use ricin on Tuco? Nope, running away in the desert and Hank miraculously saves him. What a legend. Extorted by Jane and lets her choke on her own vomit. What a legend. Gets cornered by Gus and only manages to scrape past by pressuring Jesse into shoot Gail. What a legend.
It's a fascinating point of psychology that viewers are divided here. A minority recognize Skylar's look of pity when Walt says "I am the danger" because she can see that even he doesn't believe it and others who actually idolize Walter.

the thing that happened with Jesse in "Shotgun" wasn't so much a test as it was a controlled experiment. Mike wanted to see how he would react and since Jesse didn't have anything lethal on him, Mike's guys would've been able to handle whatever he did. Once Mike saw that Jesse got the money out of there and didn't run off with it, he knew he could trust him. Getting Jesse away from his monotonous everyday routine goes a long way towards getting him clean and clear-headed. Depending on how far you go into this universe, you learn more about Mike and why he takes a liking to Jesse. And of course, we see the opposite with Walt. He's becoming unhinged and unpredictable, and Gus is seeing that as well.

My favorite thing about Walt's little iconic speech there is how it's all bravado. He wasn't the one who knocked, Jesse was. Walt was the one who was being held at gunpoint in the lab. Meanwhile at this point he's being consumed by paranoia and resentment about his working arrangement because Gus is the one holding all the power and he's losing control of Jesse.

    • @davec3651
      @davec3651 9 месяцев назад

He's more satisfied with being the mastermind who pulls the strings. To him, he was the one who knocked because Jesse was doing what he told him to. You might notice nobody seems particularly upset with Jesse regarding Gale, because they know Walt was the one. Although Walt does care about Jesse, he also basically considers him to be like his personal tool.
He told Gus as much when Gus asked "Why him?" And Walt replied "Because he does what I say." Gus then witnessed Walt use this very fact against him regarding taking out Gale, and realized Walt was actually wise in his assessment of Jesse as a good tool to have at his disposal, and also that he may now want to turn Jesse into his own pawn. So now when Jesse asks Gus "Why me?" Gus says he likes to think he sees things in people. But what Gus really means is "Because you'll do what *I* say now."

The initial scare with Jesse was explained when Jesse knew Mike wasn't going to "off that thief" because Mike put a bag over his head. Then when Mike takes Jesse for a drive, he didn't put a bag over Jesse's head. The "Guy" that Mike once had was Victor - the victim of Gus's boxcutter.
Walter sounds condescending and narcissistic when talking to Jesse but he isn't wrong about Gus's plan to drive a wedge between them. He figured it out.
"I'm not in danger. I AM the danger." - I think Walter was trying to convince himself as much if not more than convincing Skyler. All that did was raise Skyler's fear and concern that Walter was far more than just a lab cook. Walter is starting to act more recklessly. He is losing the control he once had in every facet of his life.

About the hole digging. It's called punding. The stimulating effects of methamphetamine cause people to have too much energy, be restless. They engage in compulsive and repetitive activities in order to burn all that energy or just because they're paranoid. Digging endless holes is one of those activities.

The way I always saw the episode with Jesse and Mike was Gus was initially trying to test Walter and Jesse separately. See if Jesse has any qualities of his own, and see if Walter could possibly function without him. The results skewed exceptionally in Jesse's favor, allowing Gus to realize Jesse could be an asset to him.

Not to condone any of what Gus does, at all, but like you can slowly start to see why Gus views Walt as a liability. Gus keeps a well oiled machine. A machine that HE specifically is in control of. Walt is constantly trying to take that control into his own hands and putting everyone at risk. This episode, Gus says he feels like he can read people, and if you remember at the beginning of the show, one of the reasons he hesitated to hire Walt is because he believes Walt isn't careful enough.

The mountains are insane, especially in spring time. If you are ever up for visiting, I'd be more than happy to give you some good pointers on where to visit. There's an incredible pizza place here called Slackwater that will blow your mind.

Meth makes it tough to eat, especially if you’re snorting and not smoking it.
You’re throat gets dry, and you don’t normally have an appetite but when you do you can’t eat just anything or you’ll tare up your esophagus, especially big bites or crunchy on dry things like chips or toast.
It’s pretty much the same with most drugs, cocaine, ecstasy/molly, LSD, etc.
But if you eat and drink water regularly while on any of these, resist the lack of appetite and essentially force yourself to stay fed and hydrated, “Party Drugs” are a lot easier to handle, and the eventual “come down” is less severe, thus lessening the urge to get more of what you were using, which commonly leads to addiction.
I’m not saying you won’t get addicted to drugs if you try them, but there’s a vast difference between use and abuse, potentially eating and staying hydrated can often be that dividing line.
But be warned, eating too much and taking too many drugs or drinking too much will likely make someone vomit, I’m an advocate for safe drug use, and you haven’t lived until you’ve hallucinated you were vomiting rainbows, at least one time in your short existence...👍🏽

21:00 Not only that but a business with that many locations has to have a CFO and people who report to them who would notice an entire whole ass truck of batter went missing. Unless Gus is dispatching each of those entire trucks off of the books, but if so, why do they have more than 1 bucket in them? It made sense before they knew the trucks were being hit but afterwards it's kind of weird.

My impression of the digging hole stuff is that it's a "Tom Sawyer" situation. If you're not familiar with the story, Tom's mother asked him to paint a fence, but Tom didn't want to. So he started painting, but acted like it was the most interesting thing in the world. Soon people were asking him what he was doing. He said asked them to take over for him and soon enough he had people painting the fence for him. So the analogy here is that Jesse realized that if he started doing something unusual one of the meth heads would become interested and come to investigate. Then he got the meth head to start digging for him in a similar way.

Drug addicts love to do things that don't stop.
    NYer here.
I've seen crackheads take out a dozen pennies and counter in their hand, over and over again. They'll sit down on the train, take out some spare change, and count all of those coins.
They'll put them back in their pockets, take them out 1 minute later, and then count them again for the next 10 stops on the train.

A certified forklift operator would never pick up a drum like that. It is too easy to puncture. There is an attachment to the lift that will pick it up upright. I'm not sure they can even be stored on their side like that. At the place where I used to work, we had a lot of combustible chemicals, that was a big no.
