I want to be me, I want to be free, I see this guy, hear his gig, and I melt away and forge forward in all that God has called me to. God is good. Hell is for fallen angels. Heaven is for repentive men and women. This music makes me want to be the best I can be. Blessed Tommy. Fear God, trust His Son, our Savior. The music is not the all, it's God's care for us that saves us from our sins, even if we are so greatly talented, for sure, for sure. We love Tommy Emmanuel.
A man who truly, and obviously loves his craft. He did “Nine Pound Hammer” live a few years ago (I think at a Guitar Center event, but not sure) and that was the first time I was exposed to Tommy Emmanuel and have been hooked ever since. There are very few entertainers (in my opinion) that completely enjoy the “groove” he gets into when he is playing. I love to watch him love what he does with so much enthusiasm!
At first I thought this audience was a bit cold, as no whistles, whoops and cheers during the performance. Then I realized - Tommy had just blown them so clean out of their seats that they were speechless !
Tommy, hey dewd, it's Olga from bluegrass thankyou for this jazzy blues tune today! All the LOVE FROM HEARTLANDIA😍😃☺😊😀😄🔥🎨🖼🐝🗽😎NEVER GIVE UP💜 YOU WILL ALWAYS BE #1 EVEN THO ur from downunders😉
In 1999 the great finger-picking guitarist Chet Atkins recognised 5 guitarists with the Title "Certified Guitar Player". Tommy was one of those elite 5 players. He is a ridiculously talented guitar player that seems to improve and re-invent his playing technique and styles as he matures. (reminds me of Jeff Beck, who is one of the few guitarists who keeps pushing that envelope of creativity - trying different things and extracting novel sonics from the instrument. Tommy retains melody even when playing very fast - and speed on a steel string acoustic is a lot more difficult than on an amplified electric guitar. Superb player.)
Im sure the video is speeded up a bit on canon ball rag, I’ve got this gig on DVD and I’m sure it’s not so quick, seamed a little bit unnaturally sped up.
Have you noticed his guitar doesn’t have a pick guard on it? That’s because it would cover the entire top of the guitar you bet! It would also hinder the sound of his particular style. “Roll on, Buddy!”
Actually, Tommy is wrong on the Hammer origination. The hammers werent used in the mines, but on the railroad to drive down railway spikes into the ground. John Henry competed against the newly invented steam hammer doing this task.
Did you say Kentucky? That's where KFC came from. You will have to do a live gig or even do some busking outside the Kentucky KFC headquarters and they will give you some free Kentucky Fried Chicken as payment.
Just brilliant
Tommy you inspire guitarists all over the world like nobody can do! God bless you.

ouh my fucking GOD....!!!! :b
Quite impossible to breath, right!
Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!! Tobacco and compositions have much in common.
I would bet that some of the old Blues singers first used that kind of playing, and the mountain players in Tennessee picked it up from them.
Ron Ryan you would be correct sir, look into Blind Blake and Blind Boy Fuller,Merle Travis was inspired by them and others.
@@Reactions2024 Very true, as a Blues fan I am well aware where Merle picked up his style from.
dang
1:56 Hot Damn!!!

Ah. Ok. 😳
TE, you'd do well to do more singing. Not that I'm complaining about your guitar playing, of course. But I'm leaving the table a little hungry here.
