    Great video.
    I've had two of the Yale Conexis locks over about 6 years now. As mentioned the app is rubbish. On the occasions I've needed to use it to open the door (when I've got my phone but no card/tag) the app is always signed out and I end up spending ages normally in the rain signing in before being able to open the door. Additionally, to share a digital key within the app with a guest, you have to buy each virtual key.
    The only plus I've found is B&Q seem to always sell packets of Cards or Tags or Stickers in their regular sales for a few pounds meaning I've got a few packs of each in storage to give out to house guests that I can just wipe when they fail to return them.

      @MarksTechVlogs  4 месяца назад

      I think you're referring to the Ultion Nuki which comes with a secure cylinder and new handle...at the moment Ultion haven't upgraded these to Nuki 4's...I'm guessing this is because they have stock to clear first. The Nuki 4 however, does fit on the Ultion handle so you could buy the Ultion Nuki and Nuki 4 then sell the Nuki 3 which comes with the Ultion Nuki on eBay or something...it's a bit of a pain. You also, don't actually need the Ultion handle...I've got a Nuki on my back door without the Ultion handle

    Hi Mark, thank you for the very informative video.
    I spoke to a locksmith as I was considering the Yale conexis L2. He strongly dissuaded me saying that damp gets in and it will stop working in 3 months. Having seen your video, I am tempted to get the ultion nuki plus. Would this withstand the weather better?
    Thanks

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  2 месяца назад

      100%! - The Ultion Nuki (or any Nuki Smart Lock) only goes on the inside of your door so is protected from the weather. If you buy an external keypad accessory that will go on the outside but is wireless and water resistant. At the moment the Ultion Nuki still bundles the Nuki 3 rather than the 4th generation Nuki smart locks so I'd either look at the Nuki 4 or 4 Pro directory at Nuki or even look at the Switchbot Lock Pro which has just come out (review coming on my channel tomorrow!). Hope that helps

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for the video
    I have Conexis L1 smart lock and I want to replace it with another one.
    As far as I can tell, Simpled is the only lock that can offer a "remote lock" feature. Am I right?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  3 месяца назад

      The Nuki also has a remote lock feature especially with the new matter version…you just have to make sure you lift the handle. Personally, I’d pick Nuki over Simpled because it is more secure. I will also be reviewing the new switchbot lock pro before the end of the month which is also going to have an auto lock feature (again, you’ll need to lift the handle)

      If I leave in a hurry and forget to lift the handle, So , according to what you explained, The Simpled lock will be the only one which is technically locked (even if not 100% secure). Am I confused ?

    • @MarksTechVlogs

  • @Saturnuria
    @Saturnuria 5 месяцев назад

    I've been following the develop of smart locks for years and have nearly pulled the trigger many times but there's always something missing. Personally, I'd like HomeKit and now HomeKey support but the biggest drawback is the lack of a solution for pushing up the handle. If I need to lock the door remotely (either because I've forgotten to lock it, or because I've had to remotely unlock it for some reason) there's a good chance that the handle hasn't been pulled up. I know it can take a bit of physical effort and would require a decent power source but surely it can't be technically impossible.

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  5 месяцев назад +1

      There’s beginning to be a few multi point mechanisms appear that do auto latch which would solve the issue of needing to lift the handle but these seem to only be available to trade at the moment

    • @Saturnuria
      @Saturnuria 5 месяцев назад

      @@MarksTechVlogs That’s interesting. I hadn’t come across them. So they replace the mechanisms itself rather than provide a way of lifting the handle? I imagine that could be quite a tricky job for the layperson.

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah, that’s the issue…you’d need a locksmith. Ultion have the ultion bolt and when I reached out about it they said they only sell them to locksmiths…there’s also others like the Yale Lockmaster which auto lock which as long as you get the right size I can’t imagine being difficult to fit but probably best fitted by an expert

      I've had my conexis L1 for 4 years. The fob has worked flawlessly every time and I use a Zwave dongle to connect it to home assistant so I can use my phone to unlock it without needing their absolutely appalling app. The app is the only reason I am considering a new lock as I can't add new keys now the app is that bad.

    • @Tekwyzard
      @Tekwyzard 2 месяца назад

      @@CaptainQwerty I've had the same experience as you, I use the Zwave module to connect to my Home Assistant, and like all my fobs and cards, it's all been reliable and flawless, so I dunno why the OP has had so many issues with fobs etc. The cards and fobs don't use bluetooth btw @simondennis101, they use NFC. Anyway, yeah, the app has always been almost useless, but Yale are pulling a bit of a fast one on that, as you no doubt know by now. Instead of just making it work properly using the built-in bluetooth comms of the lock, they've just dumped it, to be replaced by their new shiny one, which forces the purchase of another module, and potentially a bridge.
      If you act fast though one can acquire the module and a magnet thingy it can work with for door position sensing, very cheaply from Yale (£5). The module appears to be just another bluetooth, maybe modern up to date BLE or something, I dunno, but you also get forced to update the locks firmware (takes ages), which disables the built-in bluetooth, so no more fancy touchpad activated blue LED for you....
      Good news though, once all done, after factory resetting your lock, you can use the new app, and the new dongle thing, to manage the card/fobs flawlessly, then shove your zwave module back in to carry on using Home Assistant. Home Assistant in my case anyway, didn't even know or bother that anything had happened to the lock.
