    I’ve been following smart locks for a while now and I’m glad I’ve found this as an option for us here in the UK. My door at current is a bit awkward. To unlock it from outside you have to turn the key as normal, once it’s unlocked you have to turn it a little bit extra, hold it in place and then push the handle down to open the door. Do you think this will work with my door? I’m not sure if it’s a feature of the current handle or the whole locking mechanism. Thanks for the informative review.

    • @MarksTechVlogs

      That sounds like a standard multi-point door which is what I have and the Ultion Nuki works with it as it does that last turn too…it also has an open function which can just do that last little bit

      There is a slightly longer delay but it’s not much at all and I think it does depend on your internet speed and how close your lock is to your hub (mine is actually only about 5-10feet away from my Apple TV

      You don't have to, there are some mounts that come with the Nuki smart lock part of the package you could use to attach it to your existing handle...you don't even have to replace the cylinder although you do need a cylinder that can unlock whilst a key is in the other side. At this point though you'd be better off buying the Nuki separately for £150 and a new cylinder if you need one amzn.to/443MEa7

    Hello Mark, thank you for such wonderful review 👍🏼 do you know which cylinder lock can I buy in order for Nuki smart lock to work? Perhaps you have some links for your recommended cylinders? I live in UK and my door has multi lock system. Thank you 😊

      If you’re just looking at the Nuki and not the Ultion Nuki then Nuki do sell their own amzn.to/4bI64FM but it’s quite expensive. The most affordable option is to get something like a Yale thumbturn one and order the free Nuki adapter for Yale thumbturns

      Thank you very much Mark for such fast reply and for giving me an advise! To be honest I do want to buy Ultion Nuki, however they sell Ultion Nuki 3.0 on their website or if you purchase Ultion Nuki plus they send Nuki 4.0 version. I emailed them as their website info says that they sell Nuki 3.0 or 3.0 pro and they clarified as this “The Nuki Plus is currently V4 (website not updated as yet)”.
      I think it is very cheeky of them to sell pro/plus option when as a customer you receive 4.0 version but spend way more than it should be for what you get. I love the Ultion version for the security aspect and for seamless handle but I cannot find Ultion Nuki that comes with 4.0 pro version.

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  3 месяца назад +1

      That is cheeky! I expect they have a lot of stock with the Nuki 3 bundled so want to shift it first! If you go for the official Nuki cylinder and the Nuki 4 then you get the same 3* level of security, just not the custom interior door handle which may or may not matter

    Thanks for the great review here Mark. I’m just trying to fully understand the process of the ‘lock and go’. Can you actually just close the door and go, or do you have to lift the outside handle still before it will lock?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  11 месяцев назад +1

      You still need to lift the handle. Basically the double-tap lock and go unlocks the door from the inside and gives you 20 seconds to get out and lift up the handle and then it will lock automatically. There aren’t any smart locks out there are the moment that can engage all the multi points on a door without you lifting the handle

      @@MarksTechVlogs thanks Mark. You’re right about the smart lock, perhaps I have a work around as your can buy auto locking multipoint locks, like the WinkHaus AV2 or AV3… from there, I think the Nuki will just spin the deadlock and also unlock it later.. have you considered this? (I’m buying a totally new door so HW options are wide open)

The Danalock operates the main lock and lifts the multipoint latches as well but the latches lock again when the door is pushed shut(think there’s some kind of magnet on the door that fires the latches when it comes into contact with the frame

    If using Apple HomeKit with a HomeKit hub (e.g. a Apple TV), you said you don't need the Nuki hub. But if I'm away from the house and want to see the status of the lock, will that feature work without a Nuki hub? I didn't think the AppleTV connected directly to the lock via BT but happy to be proven wrong.

      @@MarksTechVlogs ok great thanks for the info. that will be very handy. I presume the nuki 3.0 bought on its own (not ultion version) is also capable of doing the same, but do you happen to know what kind of handle/hardware you need for that function to work?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  10 месяцев назад

      You can use the Nuki on its own and it does come with adapters and stickers to work with existing handles. Whether it needs to use the open feature or not depends on the existing mechanism on your door. My front door currently has a mechanism that means even when unlocked you need a final turn of the key to get in from the outside whereas my back door doesn’t, if unlocked you just pull the handle down to enter.
      The Nuki supports both of the behaviours above and is set up during calibration. You shouldn’t need to change anything about your door hardware if you use the Nuki…the only thing you may need to change is the cylinder part of the lock as the Nuki only works with cylinders that can be operated whilst a key is in the other side

  • @jasongoughuk
    @jasongoughuk 10 месяцев назад

    Can you comment on proximity sensing for auto unlocking? Somebody who fits smart locks told me Apple HomeKit has a 100 meter radius for auto unlocking doors, which sounds ridiculous. Is the Nuki proximity detection that wide? Or does it have ability to sense a much smaller radius?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  10 месяцев назад

      The auto unlocking via the Nuki app works in two ways…the geofence ring is 100m although you can make this wider…the actual Auto Unlock only kicks in when you’re within 10m and connect to the Nuki’s Bluetooth. The Apple autounlock via HomeKit isn’t seemless as lock automations require you to action them on your phone via a prompt for security

    • @jasongoughuk

      @@MarksTechVlogs ahhh very nice. so the guy was right about the 100m radius, but he was wrong to say the door would unlock once you're within it.. he said even if you're just stopping at the pub on the way home it could unlock! nice to know it won't actually unlock unless you're on the garden path. is that control within the Nuki app, right?

    • @MarksTechVlogs

      Hey, my phone won’t let me unlock the door via HomeKit unless my phone is unlocked. The geofencing mode in the Nuki app doesn’t require this so to require Face ID each time you’d need to use Apple home automations instead of the Nuki App
      For the shouting, depending on your voice assistant they should require a passcode or device confirmation to operate the lock. If I try and use m my HomePod mini to open the door with Siri it tells me I need to continue on my phone
