Erinis, Gloom Stalker from Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate has impressed me quite a bit, especially paired up with Street Urchin for it's background. You get a commander that can sacrifice artifacts to kill most creatures thanks to deathtouch, clearing the way for it to attack and recur lands, some of which are also artifacts, to just slowly keep chugging ahead. One of my favorite commanders I built around this year that nobody talks about is Minsc and Boo from baldurs gate. Originally built it as a meme deck but actually turned into a monster. @@michaelcollins4534 seems like it yes, this will be my first grixis deck, but I am also gonna build Lord of Tresserhorn some day, such a cool and brutal commander with interesting build challenges.
I agree and disagree with Tomer, Liara Portyr is amazing but she totally earns her position in the command zone, by far my favourite commander of the year
I was thinking about it a bit more and I think Liara has enough stuff going on to be her own Commander, after all Isshin only copies attack triggers, so things like Jeska's Will still work better with Liara. I do think Isshin is stronger than her, and kinda wish he was at least 4 mana instead of the absolute minimum of 3, so it was more of a decision who to choose as a Commander.
@@MTGGoldfishCommander Oh yeah, power level-wise there's no discussion, Isshin all the way, but it feels so good to chain impulse draw spell into implse draw spell with Liara
Ghyrson Starn, Kellermorph and Dhiada, Binder of Wills take my top spots this year. And I have to say, people who are building Ghyrson as Tim Tribal are missing out on the real spice, which is UR Cavalcade ft. Flying Men and Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive. Swinging a 1/1 thopter and watching someone lose nine life is immensely satisfying.
I don't buy into believing you *need* infinites to end games. I play Aggro and Midrange and win fine without them. But more importantly Tomer inspired me to brew an Izzet deck. Myra looks cool!
You absolutely don't need infinites to win games but I think it's a good courtesy to the table to add win conditions to your deck. It's very miserable when a Blink deck's wincon is slowly hitting you with a flying 2/2.
Zevlor seems good with the endless removal in Grixis. Marneus is good, but it's easy for him to make your combos finite since you can't keep drawing you can't make more tokens, so you'll want bad deck recyclers and discard outlets. The problem with Go-Shintai is that it's not Sisay, but on the plus side it's not Sisay. Anyways, I went with Sisay for my Shrines, so I have a shot at actually cheating them all out some games as a win con. TBH, my Sisay doesn't need to dig out Shrines most games, but they are a nice rugged backup plan. I like Tomer's idea of using jank gear like the Treasure pick in Slicer, but for the love of dog play Two-Handed Axe and Inquisitor's Flail, they even stack with one another. If you get one of those one him he's a 2 shot kill, get both and he can 1 shot people. I like the Chaos element that Slicer offers, but it's easy to kill folks with it, it might not be easy to finish off the last opponent. Urza Lord Protector is like Grand Arbiter for babies, but fortunately attracts a lot less hate. Meld is a nice upside, but the MatM is otherwise a crummy card unless I'm missing something, I guess if you mostly run artifacts/cards with abilities it does work?
I have seem some of those commanders soooo often in Brawl, that I'm done with them... I get bored just by watching the picture of the card... For example the urza and the shintai... They are so slow... And they don't even have a plan to win most of the times... I wait until they have some board presence and then I just use 1 boardwipe and they scoop.
But it goes back to the owner at end of turn. So the opponents can’t sacrifice it on the next person’s turn. Unless you’re talking about the owner sacrificing it, but that wasn’t the point.
You start the game with a pile of attractions (min 10). Whenever a card says open an attraction you put the top card from that pile on to the battlefield. At the beginning of your first main phase you roll a d6. If the result matches the lit up number on any of your attractions you trigger them ("visit"). That's it. It really isn't a difficult mechanic.

Crim really is Mr. Grixis. 3 picks, 3 Grixis Commanders. Lol
I cant tell if crime is the enemy or champion of the day man.
Looking good, Crim.
It’s ok Tomer, you’re allowed to like things like Unfinity and everyone else gets to not have to like things as well. What a wonder thing about commander; eh?
I built Auntie Blyte and the deck way over performs. Shes gets huge fast, give her lifelink to replenish your life total, and one shot someone with wheel of misfortune. Its a sweet deck
Shiny gyarados is red
Slicer is sick until someone pulls out KCI and sacs all the equipment.
I don't think they can sac the equipment - they don't control the equipment just the creature.
@@johnbreaux2092 I wish I thought of that at the time, you’re absolutely right.
@@Bongus_Bubogus Haha - yeah gets tricky remembering stuff like that in the moment. Especially when you pass the physical cards around. Can't wait to build Slicer :)
@@johnbreaux2092 He’s fun and strong, plus playing mono colors makes deckbuilding more interesting imo.
The lack of henzie is disturbing
Yeah I wish it was on MTGO 😓 Never played with or against it yet
@@BrewersKitchen That is a shame. It's a banger.
Do you have a link to your slicer list?
Crim has sooo many cool takes, love him!
He even persuaded me to build Evelyn now.
Grixis always gets all the fun commanders, and they're usually packing unique effects too
@@michaelcollins4534 seems like it yes, this will be my first grixis deck, but I am also gonna build Lord of Tresserhorn some day, such a cool and brutal commander with interesting build challenges.
Mishra plus Strionic Resonator 👀
Funny I pulled 2 slicers recently
The Predacons scanned dinosaur fossils in order to be dinosaurs.
Damn, Tomer with the incorrect opinion as his first choice
I have several questions. First off, why is Crim dressed like a Gyarados drawn by Araki?
What I learned from this video: y'all don't watch enough Transformers
So does tomer just live in a cupboard now?
Does Zevlor copy X values in spells, or is X zero on the copies?
Ish is mine for sure 🙌❤️ combat wins forever 🙌 boo combo solitaire decks
Of course crime’s list is all grixis lol
I super wish maskwood nexus worked with shrines
Love the content! May be time for Tomer to upgrade his mic though to help it all sound clearer though… thanks!
Crim looking more like Crimakuni Tomoaki.
Jinnie Fay Treasure is insane and super fun
I wanted to brew Myra. The Attractions are so cheap as well. I want it for the random value spins, because thats my style.
@345tom She just reads as pure silly fun to me. If ever a character emblemized what Commander can be, it was Myra.
You absolutely don't need infinites to win games but I think it's a good courtesy to the table to add win conditions to your deck. It's very miserable when a Blink deck's wincon is slowly hitting you with a flying 2/2.
@MTGGoldfishCommander I get that, now that you mention it. Agreed.
@@MTGGoldfishCommander 💯 agree, please at least have a plan :😀
Kinda wanna build slicer now...
Word to the mutha f
Slicer can be sacrificed, just respond to the trigger on the next person's turn and high market, village rites, goblin bombardment etc...
But it goes back to the owner at end of turn. So the opponents can’t sacrifice it on the next person’s turn.
Unless you’re talking about the owner sacrificing it, but that wasn’t the point.
How does this channel still not provide chapters or at the very least time stamps?
we buy any car we buy any car.
Dismissing the “Unfinity rabble rabble…”
…but not explaining the mechanics because they’re too convoluted.
I really like Isshin. I have a token build and it can go super wide really fast.
They scanned the bones of the dinosaurs. It was post dinosaur apocalypse #beasies
