      The smaller the committee the more common ground. There are many lobbyists that appeal to specific congressional members and it’s a conflict of interest for these committees, but is somehow allowed in congress as a whole. They also go after companies much harder than government agencies. They often protect the illegal and unsanctioned actions such as DHS secretary Mayorkas’ unlawful abandonment of immigration laws.

How is it fair for some passengers to follow the rules, and other passengers show up with bigger bags and the airline just is supposed to let them get away with it? I work AA, overbooking is 100% a profit thing. But if you volunteer to give up your seat due to an overbooking issue, you will be rewarded travel credits as well as being rebooked on a new flight, for the instance you are asked to deboard (involuntarily) due to an overbooked flight… you are awarded money. I was asked to give up my seat due to an overbooked AA flight, I fly first class only but on that day I was flying main cabin, I paid $432 for my ticket… I was rebooked the next day first flight out in main cabin extra, and given $832 cash! Some people are offered $1k+ to voluntarily get off a flight!
      Overbooking is not going to be prohibited as it is fair for the customers involved.

    While airlines nickle and dime travelers, the "fees & taxes" are just as bad. Every single time a plane puts its "wheels on the ground", there is a minimum $50.00 fee, there's a fuel charge, and on & on. Traveling Fri - Mon is more expensive than Tu - Th, with Wed typically being the cheapest day to fly. Flying later in the day is more expensive than flying early in the morning. Also, for those who search several sites over several days, prices increase... unless you clear the cache or search in incognito mode.

This actually benefits everyone (shorter lines, quicker screening for agents) without compromising safety. It’s a 78$ fee for 5 years. It makes total sense. And TSA should not be compared to an airline as it is a government agency.

    Yes, let's ask why airlines are charging us 0.1% higher compared to 2019. Growth from Dec 2019 o Dec 2023 is 0.1%, while food increased by 25%, used cars went up by 45%, gas went up by 67%, rent inflation almost doubled,...let's not ask those guy...let's go ask the airline with almost zero inflation while facing increased costs and min wage? This is a kangaroo court. Stop the 🧢 and trying to divert our attention on things that didn't affected us.
    I want to know why my beef costs twice as much, why milk went up by almost 150%, why bread went up 80%, why fuel and heating oil almost went up 30-40%, why my rent went from 2.3K to 3.9k in the same neighborhood and apartment!!!! Go find that out!!! Stop doing useless crap!

    The "customer choice" for unbundled, basic economy fares with no bags these airlines are crowing about isn't driven by people. It is primarily driven by penny-pincher companies who force their low level employees to fly the absolute cheapest way possible, even if the experience is horrible (this is also why United Healthcare is so bad). It is a classic principal-agent problem.
    Force these employers to pay for a decent flying experience for their employees by passing a law requiring that airlines at least offer a free carry-on bag and seat selection, as well as regulating minimum seat pitch and width requirements. Stop the "race to the bottom" unbundling spiral in air travel. If affordability is the primary concern then give flight credits to the poorest Americans to be able to afford a fare for travel to a funeral, to change job cities, or to attend college.

  • @wdking8833
    @wdking8833 Месяц назад +1

    Airlines should be required to publish the ACTUAL fees that will be charged, not make them up when a passenger is standing at the boarding desk. Two people on the same flight with the same weight of baggage should NOT be paying two different prices for tickets and bags, but they are. I and a friend took the same flight on the same plane. We carefully weighed our bags at a post office, they were within 2 pounds of each other. Yet when the airline weighed our bags, they both "weighed" four pounds more each. That's another problem. Why was one of us charged $50 less than the other? We did not even specify that our seats be together. Surely such price gouging is illegal. This was the first time in 40 years that I have flown and seeing what I saw it will be my last. Something needs to be done for those people for whom air travel is a necessity.

  • @kcgunesq
    @kcgunesq Месяц назад +1

    When they say prices are lower compared to inflation, are they also adjusting what the customer gets besides travel from point to point? If the seats were larger, food and beverages were better and the ancillary fees are now much higher, is it really true that the total product delivered has remained at or below inflation?

One agent looked me dead in the eye and asked me how old my child was and why I didn't pay to book a sit. He was 4 😅. So you want my child to sit next to a creep? If I can't leave my child at home alone, why is it appropriate for the airline to say he or she will sit alone unless I pay. I don't understand this at alI. I don't remember this happening years ago.

    I think the law makers do not purchase airline tickets themselves. They don’t know the basic environments inside a plane and how it relates to the ticket purchasing process. I like the unbundled model. I don’t like how little room a standard seat gives. No leg room. The airports suck! The employees are miserable people. The process of getting through immigration and customs is horrible. And I have to say no one is more about collecting fees than the state and federal governments so I find it ironic they are throwing stones at these guys. Yes it’s expensive to fly since 9/11 but a lot of that are fees required by the government and the airport. Bigger seats cost more. Comfort cost more. The more comfort the more it costs.

This SCAM is happening to all of us in many different services .....citizens are being robbed in plain sight 😡

    Checked bag fee was implemented as a fuel cost increase, it has never went away because they made to much from it.
    Airlines would likely purposely seperate families booking at the same time just to get the added fees that they charge.
    Back in the 70s air trave costs was regulated by the government and the airlines tried to get travelers to choose them by OFFERING MORE than the others. Since then things have been a race to the bottom and to squeeze the most out of the customer. Spirit would charge for bathroom use and breathing air if they could.
