Project Brutality completed Brutal Doom, Classic BD feels empty now when i try it after PB. Its like BD with a bit of Complex's gameplay features thrown in... Ultimate Doom imo

Btw minigunners or any hitscanners dont shoot hitscanners and instead shoot really fast tracers. if you double tap the movement keys you can do a dodge
You can't reactively dodge like you can against imps or barons, you have to be a bit predictive. It still makes chaingunners a lot easier than they are vanilla since you can avoid damage by moving at a full sprint.
To clarify, I think Rozza meant to say "surprised he survived". I loved the shit out of The New Order (and Old Blood), but as always, I won't get too excited just in case Bethesda decides to take a shit and ruin everything.
Some of the things that you mentioned in this review as features of Project Brutality are actually features from the base Brutal Doom mod, for example almost-dead enemies crawling around and then taking potshots with a pistol.

Just thought I’d let you guys know that the most recent version of Project Brutality (which I’ve done a let’s play of on my channel) does have an option to adjust the screen shake and the recoil of the weapons. Meaning that the chain gun and a lot of the dual wield weapons can actually be usable now.
Fuck Romero, dude is over rated, did you see the wad he created that won the 2016 Cacoawards? It is literally the last mission of act 1 re mastered............ and yeah its a decent wad map, but it does not compare to some of the others that are made, especially the others at the 2016 Cacoawards... I dont know hes just as big as the other lead guys on Doom, and imo is kinda overrated..
That cacoward was more of a tribute for romero and the creation of knee deep in the dead, and to give him the physical cacoward. The dude has said before that he stands no chance against the modders, that they have surpassed what doom originally was.
Project Brutality (2.0.3) was the first Doom mod I ever played, and it ruined Brutal Doom for me. Like Icarus said, "If Brutal Doom turned Doom up to 11. Then, Project Brutality turns it up to 111!" All the animations, weapons, weapon abilities, enemy variety, and features were so many in number that it surpassed Brutal Doom in every way (at least for me.) Which is why I am excited for Brutal Doom V21 since P.B. robbed me of that B.D. experience. Not to mention the fine tuning and additions being made in B.D. V21 make it worth a play. Plus, once V21 of B.D. is out that means that P.B. 3.0 will be right around the corner of its own release! Version 3.0 of P.B. will be adding some new twerks and tweaks, along with new weapons and enemies! Again, lol. I AM SO PUMPED FOR BOTH NEW VERSIONS OF BRUTAL DOOM AND PROJECT BRUTALITY THAT I HAVE DOWNLOADED SO MANY WADS AND MAPS IN PREPARATION, AND THE WAIT IS AGONIZING!!! >xT
Better art, more options to make the game play how you want, this is my favorite mod for doom by a mile. I still prefer just to play vanilla but if I feel like something sillier this is my go to. If you want to play this and don't want to "ruin" someones well balanced map pack, making random maps with Oblige is a great way to play with this mod.

I know you probably get dozens of requests, but you might want to take a look at Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch. It's a arena shooter based on the Megaman games built on the Doom engine. The story mode they have is really well done.
Did you ever get the Demon Powerup? Getting to turn into a Revenant for single player Doom with a fully functional, gamw breaking jetpack is so fun, but it's a bit of a rarity. This is truly a mod that only gets better the deeper in you go!

As amazing as the mod is, I feel like waiting for someone to drop a berserk pack, switching to fists, and punching an enemy multiple times is a LITTLE much for a fatality. Simply quick meleeing a near death enemy was MUCH more intuitive in Doom 2016, and I was really hoping that future versions of BD and PB would have adopted a similar system.

The best part is that the mod is still being worked on. Intact the developer has released the beta version of PB 3.0 which you can download from his RUclips channel. It just shows how the doom community is still running and power after 2 decades after its release.
You are not using the last version, wich is the 3.0. Here is what you are missing out: In the last version there is a giant nailgun that lets you impale the enemies to the walls, a plasma rifle that EVAPORATES enemies and a granate launcher that strikes from above like a javelin. I love project brutality for the absolute badass moments, like waiting for an elevator full of shotgunners to come down and then hitting them with the dragon's breath shotgun to watch them all burn slowly or blasting a pinky arm with the supershotgun only to decapitate him with a chainsaw, or hitting a hellbaron in the balls, then freeze him, then shatter him with the rocket launcher. Todays AAA games have to rely on scripted events to do such badass things while PB lets you do it constantly and naturally in a neverending gore fest. 10/10

HUGE difference between this and Vanilla Doom: STRATEGY. The original was all about running and gunning, Brutal Doom/Project Brutality is about planning ahead and preparing yourself for the next situation with the best weapon possible. Example being the DB shotgun is good for taking out large game like the Barons and Mancubi, but is absolutely useless in large areas with swarms of monsters. If you're not careful, you will be rightfully overpowered on with not much time to retaliate. That being said, this mod works remarkably well with mods like Unloved, which has extreme balance issues as it is, but Brutal Doom levels the playing field quite a bit.
How much this mod is changed now. I remember playind it far ago, as it was just a crazier and overbloated version of Brutal Doom. Now it is much better than Brutal Doom - new smooth animations, amazing dynamic enemy behaviour (zombies react when they're infighting, they try to dodge your bullets and they jump to cover grenades), amazing weapon balance. The only cons is that it's incompatible with Zandronum - so no coop, no multiplayer. Mod got even on the top of 10 wait mods on ModDB, so it deserves a new review. Also, maybe I'm mad, but there's a handblade in Doom Eternal, while in Project Brutality there was a very similar knife back then far ago.
I haven't played traditional Brutal Doom but I absolutely loved this mod. Played all of Doom and Doom 2 using it and had a blast. The weapon options it gives you are just phenomenal.
I agree with everything, except 1. The mini gun shaking, i feel like its conpensation for balence due to a lot of other automatics being able to keep up in destruction power 2. The soldiers can be a bit OP, but it honestly just takes you respecting them a bit more, i feel like there perfect this way because i felt they were just a shitty weak enemy thats more of a waste of bullets and time when choosing to shoot at them in a big room when presented with tons of other enemy types.. But if you included my to points in this video as if they were your own, this video would be you bum licking Project Brutality... So good video all in all, just my humble opinion.
This is purely my subjective impression, but I think the spread on the bullets is actually quite small, and the recoil shaking the aim around is the compensation for that. Personally, the recoil on the minigun has never bothered me. I just treat the minigun as a ruinous short-range weapon. Whenever I know I'm about to step into a small room full of bastards, I break out the minigun, use the alt-fire to get it spinning, then dive straight in. Pro: absolutely SHREDS everything. And I do mean everything, up to and including Cyberdemons. (Annihilators are a bit more pain-resistant, but I can get right in the face of a regular Cyberdemon while alt-firing the minigun and he can't even hit me. If he could, he'd one-shot me with the stomp, but he can't) Con: Drinks ammo like your mum in a brewery.

One game I think you would really like that I would love to see a review of would be BloodRayne 2! It's pretty cheap, and a ton of fun, seems right up your alley. Keep up the great videos!
I am ex army and while I never shot an actual chain gun, I can say that shooting any massive automatic weapon WILL MAKE YOU SHAKE LIKE CRAZY, even if its mounted! There is a reason the devs didn't let you turn off that screen shaking.

You're not playing the most current version, but the latest version is a beta with features such as wall mantling, more monsters, sprites, weapons, lighting, spawns and more. Good review
Despite how much people make fun of hdoom, it probably has one of the best enemy changes I've ever seen in a doom wad by changing the zombies into different types of imps (no hitscan)

Metroid Prime was the sole reason I bought a gamecube in the first place. And damn, those two games were worth every single penny at least tenfold. Even today I have a blast with them Emulated on PC. From a Time where 60FPS console gaming was not uncommon.
If anyone is wondering the best latest version is Project brutality Mutators 1.4.5 on moddb (this was build on top of the 2.03a version which was the last official release) . The setting for screen shake is in display options not mod settings. Also zombiemen don't get hit-scan, you can dodge their bullets at max speed. Great review though.
Project Brutality makes my eyes and ears bleed. Trailblazer, Guncaster, Faspons, Argent, Parkour etc will shit on it gameplay wise. Especially Trailblazer. Most ballsy Doom experience you can get.
If Brutal Doom was Thrash Metal, then Project Brutality is extreme Technical Death Metal. It's great when you're in the mood for it, but sometimes less is more. Brutal Doom is a much better all-rounder for using on custom maps etc.
For me, Project Brutality is the best FPS made to this day. Not only that much content: all of it is highly polished. Some companies should learn from these guys that are just doom fans
I bet you'd enjoy the Hell on Earth Starter Pack made for Brutal Doom. I play it almost exclusively with Project Brutality. It says it is discontinued and no longer supported but it still works beautifully.
would love to see you cover Zandronum mod called EXmixer. It is on ZDoom forums. It has elements from all classic FPS games thrown in. The next version that is released the end of this year will have 3D modeled Quake 2 & Half-Life monsters. It is sort of like AEons of Death, but with more faithful scripting of the weapons and monsters to their native games and less cluster.
a lot of these mods are giving me a headache. I think its a case of sensory overload. The blaring heavy metal, super colorful lighting, retarded amounts of gore and constant screen shakes. It feels like everyone is trying to one up each other and its going too far
CuppaKofe I have to say I absolutely love Brutal Doom and the fact that I can tune it down a bit but I'd say everything else really does go way too over the top. But also I can't play it constantly like some of these guys do. Once or twice a week I go ham on some demon bastards to blow some steam and call it good. Thats one of the reasons I dislike this mod or addon... whatever. Im not trying to defend BD but imo is better balanced and not oversaturated by 30 weapons plus upgrades and 6 variants of every enemy. And some desings of the weapons look really weird. revolver look cartoonish, and it seems every big weapon is aiming to the sky, the sense of perspective on the weapons is ugly First time I played the mod I really liked a lot, but after a few hours of play I give up. I really prefere the little touch with BD, map features, and details on the map and deaths
It's probably not for you. Granted i dont play it h24 but it's a blast once in while. Also, LCA legendary complex Doom is even more abused with weapons than insanity brutality.
One thing gman forgot to say was, this mod, makes the easy difficulties, a little harder. So hurt me plenty is really ultra violence and ultra violence is nightmare, kind of

HUGE difference between this and Vanilla Doom: STRATEGY. The original was all about running and gunning, Brutal Doom/Project Brutality is about planning ahead and preparing yourself for the next situation with the best weapon possible. Example being the DB shotgun is good for taking out large game like the Barons and Mancubi, but is absolutely useless in large areas with swarms of monsters. If you're not careful, you will be rightfully overpowered on with not much time to retaliate. That being said, this mod works remarkably well with mods like Unloved, which has extreme balance issues as it is, but Brutal Doom levels the playing field quite a bit.

How much this mod is changed now. I remember playind it far ago, as it was just a crazier and overbloated version of Brutal Doom.
Now it is much better than Brutal Doom - new smooth animations, amazing dynamic enemy behaviour (zombies react when they're infighting, they try to dodge your bullets and they jump to cover grenades), amazing weapon balance.
The only cons is that it's incompatible with Zandronum - so no coop, no multiplayer.
Mod got even on the top of 10 wait mods on ModDB, so it deserves a new review.
Also, maybe I'm mad, but there's a handblade in Doom Eternal, while in Project Brutality there was a very similar knife back then far ago.
I haven't played traditional Brutal Doom but I absolutely loved this mod. Played all of Doom and Doom 2 using it and had a blast. The weapon options it gives you are just phenomenal.

I remember playing doom a lot when I was a kid, after I met project brutality I can't stop playing anymore
I agree with everything, except
1. The mini gun shaking, i feel like its conpensation for balence due to a lot of other automatics being able to keep up in destruction power
2. The soldiers can be a bit OP, but it honestly just takes you respecting them a bit more, i feel like there perfect this way because i felt they were just a shitty weak enemy thats more of a waste of bullets and time when choosing to shoot at them in a big room when presented with tons of other enemy types..
But if you included my to points in this video as if they were your own, this video would be you bum licking Project Brutality... So good video all in all, just my humble opinion.
This is purely my subjective impression, but I think the spread on the bullets is actually quite small, and the recoil shaking the aim around is the compensation for that.
Personally, the recoil on the minigun has never bothered me. I just treat the minigun as a ruinous short-range weapon. Whenever I know I'm about to step into a small room full of bastards, I break out the minigun, use the alt-fire to get it spinning, then dive straight in. Pro: absolutely SHREDS everything. And I do mean everything, up to and including Cyberdemons. (Annihilators are a bit more pain-resistant, but I can get right in the face of a regular Cyberdemon while alt-firing the minigun and he can't even hit me. If he could, he'd one-shot me with the stomp, but he can't) Con: Drinks ammo like your mum in a brewery.
And I hope they added the angled weapons version.
I am in love with this channel, easily my favorite gaming reviews around, especially since I recently switched from console to PC gaming. This is literally the best mod out there for Doom.
I am ex army and while I never shot an actual chain gun, I can say that shooting any massive automatic weapon WILL MAKE YOU SHAKE LIKE CRAZY, even if its mounted!
There is a reason the devs didn't let you turn off that screen shaking.

You're not playing the most current version, but the latest version is a beta with features such as wall mantling, more monsters, sprites, weapons, lighting, spawns and more. Good review

Despite how much people make fun of hdoom, it probably has one of the best enemy changes I've ever seen in a doom wad by changing the zombies into different types of imps (no hitscan)

Metroid Prime was the sole reason I bought a gamecube in the first place. And damn, those two games were worth every single penny at least tenfold. Even today I have a blast with them Emulated on PC.
From a Time where 60FPS console gaming was not uncommon.
Lazydesmond it's crazy how they captured the classic Metro is formula in a first person game.

Nowadays, Project Brutality is a standalone mod as opposed to it being an add-on. An improvement over the original in my opinion.
The setting for screen shake is in display options not mod settings. Also zombiemen don't get hit-scan, you can dodge their bullets at max speed. Great review though.

Especially Trailblazer. Most ballsy Doom experience you can get.
If Brutal Doom was Thrash Metal, then Project Brutality is extreme Technical Death Metal. It's great when you're in the mood for it, but sometimes less is more. Brutal Doom is a much better all-rounder for using on custom maps etc.

For me, Project Brutality is the best FPS made to this day. Not only that much content: all of it is highly polished. Some companies should learn from these guys that are just doom fans

I bet you'd enjoy the Hell on Earth Starter Pack made for Brutal Doom. I play it almost exclusively with Project Brutality. It says it is discontinued and no longer supported but it still works beautifully.
would love to see you cover Zandronum mod called EXmixer. It is on ZDoom forums. It has elements from all classic FPS games thrown in. The next version that is released the end of this year will have 3D modeled Quake 2 & Half-Life monsters. It is sort of like AEons of Death, but with more faithful scripting of the weapons and monsters to their native games and less cluster.

a lot of these mods are giving me a headache. I think its a case of sensory overload. The blaring heavy metal, super colorful lighting, retarded amounts of gore and constant screen shakes. It feels like everyone is trying to one up each other and its going too far

CuppaKofe I have to say I absolutely love Brutal Doom and the fact that I can tune it down a bit but I'd say everything else really does go way too over the top. But also I can't play it constantly like some of these guys do. Once or twice a week I go ham on some demon bastards to blow some steam and call it good. They're all really awesome, they just need to be played with a fuckton of moderation
Thats one of the reasons I dislike this mod or addon... whatever. Im not trying to defend BD but imo is better balanced and not oversaturated by 30 weapons plus upgrades and 6 variants of every enemy. And some desings of the weapons look really weird. revolver look cartoonish, and it seems every big weapon is aiming to the sky, the sense of perspective on the weapons is ugly
First time I played the mod I really liked a lot, but after a few hours of play I give up. I really prefere the little touch with BD, map features, and details on the map and deaths

Also, LCA legendary complex Doom is even more abused with weapons than insanity brutality.
Project Brutality is definitely worth checking out, even if it is an assault on the senses.
