- Dragonhunter is a burst oriented specialization for Guardian in Guild Wars 2. This build in particular takes advantage of traps with pushes and sheer damage from longbow for a fun and fast paced combo playstyle that can work in all of the game modes.
Equipment: Go for around 50% base crit chance and 15-16k HP
Valkyrie Helmet, rest of the Armor Berserker with Fireworks Runes
Valkyrie Ring, rest of the Trinkets Marauder
Berserker Longbow Celerity/Vision
Berserker Greatsword Rage/Force
Marauder Sword/Shield Energy/Cleansing

Medi -Trapper has been my favorite Guardian build since HoT dropped. Its sorely underutilized and great at transitioning from small scale to large scale fights in wvw! Great to see it getting some love!

I like to brew my own versions of most classes, but searching for information on the class can be tricky.. mainly because its so rare you get a "why" on any choice made and alternatives are rarely talked about.

just remember the 2 skills on both weapons are big nukes, the 4 are symbols , always use the 4 inside the tether and use the 2 whenever
Shoot, wait for them to go into your trap, shoot again, and they are dead, haha, i almost never die in PvP when doing this spec, you just stand in the cornor and rain arrows on them, its pretty sick.
Imma give this a try! Unlocking DH as of right now so hopefully this still stands decently in all game modes but for now just PvE is all I’ll be doing

Great video! Can I make a suggestion for a new one?
And I think a general video explaining some terms would be very helpful even for more experience players. Guild wars does a poor job of tutorials specially for how complicated some things are. I would love to see a video explaining some terms and the relevancy especially in regards to rotation and general gameplay. I was thinking things like: Animations (delays), cancel casting, etc. Plus, things like what disables, interrupts, etc. you’ve got a great educational style that would work well for explaining these topics which are not exactly basics, but kind of intermediate topics (often a missing set). Thanks for all the hard work!

At 2:57 and it's a bit more actually. you say to use fireworks runes for speed buff and a good choice if you're playing any other trait/elite trait line other then Dragonhunter. In Dragonhunter first selectable line take the Soaring Devastation over Piercing Light. Soaring Devastation gives 25% boost to movement speed as well and opens up a plethora of options that will greatly benefit you more then whatever you're going to get from Piercing Light. Hope this helps anyone.😉👍
it helps people who never use their f2, but usually when you use your f2 thats the moment you need the speed buff the most and yet you lose it, making that trait a bad choice
I am definitly the worst gamer ever. I don't understand anything about anything and just do whatever. Been trying to improve but I just don't see it, don't get it so a good player must get so frustrated when matched up with me. Like the other player putting traps and me just not seeing that and missing out on opportunity. I'm playing on pure luck but skills are a better change than luck :). Still I love the game. Love to see this gameplay, too bad I'll never reach it. It does make me feel sad cuz darn ...look at this! Loved this vid and gonna watch more of you.
Love your guides but I have to ask, which class have you found the highest win rate on 1v1 roaming? I know this is highly situational but just want initial thoughts. I struggled with an Ele for years and even with your guides still find some just crush me too easily. Since I saw this I tried and faced an Ele with camp guards on his side, still smoked him while forgetting I had a shield to swap to. Kinda funny and sad.
Have these builds changed much since posted? New player to Guild wars and not sure how much things shift around or change over time. Love to be able to just jump in and try all these game modes with a solid build.
i have a similar build but all the time you are in the edge to died. Just check the the armor and life, my elementalist have more life and armor. I know that this build works but you have to keep moving and evading all the time. I like to keep the life arround 18,000 and the armor 2,500 to dont die easily because if you fail in one move, you are out of energy or you healing skills are cooldown you will die versus dps. Maguma sniapers for example, you have to check them all the time and try to kill them first or the invisible hounds of Maguma. If is a champion or elite sniper, you are dead. So if you play in a group this works well, if you are playing alone and exploring a map, i recommend to use gear with more vitality and toughness or use Honor specialization and Force of Will to increase the vitality.

So whats a good health number for guardian? I got 12.8k health, on a all beserker armor, and some marauder jewelry. Wondering if I should get trade some dps, for more marauder jewelry.
Could you try to get some benchmarks with this build? Would like to see how far off it is from the 36k DPS standard DH.

Is it good for Fractals, Raids, Strikes? I usually see full berserker for this content
yes you do usually see full berserker, but if you want to play anything besides that you'll die. Decide whether you want to be more optimal there or more optimal elsewhere, or just replace some of the gear depending on what you do

Hey there! I’m new to GW2 . I’m torn between Ranger and DH. I prefer a longbow class and trying to figure out which might be the edge for pvp and WvW? I have no PvE desire. Between the two are they balanced or does one have an edge over the other?
both are good but i think dragonhunter is a little better because the most common version of ranger that uses a bow is not the easiest to survive as

Its good but you have to do some pretty active defense and evasive maneuvers while playing alone. Or change the build to a bit more survivable.. I still main it and enjoy it tho because traps are fun and burst damage numbers feels good to me. Sometimes I change to firebrand, fb is cool but there is something about it I don't like... I don't know what that is, may be constantly switching tomes and checking page numbers is tiresome.

I really wish they made Ranger more like a hunter. The pet feels weak and pointless, the bow skills are boring and everything wants you to play spirit stuff and druid stuff. I just want a good old Bow character like the dragon hunter but with a Beast of a pet that is symbiotic to gameplay.

yes u can get hit damage with long bow skill 2 and 4 hit 10k+ always use f1 on target and use long bow skill 1 to cripple with radiance trait and fury boon to get easy 110% crit change
