  • Hi everybody!
I'm working on a real video but this weekend will be way too hot! In the meantime this past week I worked on my new laptop desk set so here's a short video. I only have small desk so I had to maximize the space. I hope to have another normal informative video up next week.
Feel free to roast my new setup and tell me how you'd make it better.

I actually like the old and new setups. No roasting needed. I mean, you chose Evangelion as your wallpaper, so you're obviously a man of culture (Full tetraology on Prime soon. August 13th for 4th. Films 1, 2 and 3 not confirmed to arrive on the same day).
Anyway, a few questions (sorry if it's a bit much. Don't have to answer all of them. Especially in this weather).
    Old Setup:
    1) What's the name/material for the mat underneath the laptop, mouse keyboard? I could use one like it.
    New Setup:
    2) What is the name of the Silver Laptop holder you bought? I didn't see it on the packaging. Only that it was made in China (what isn't).
    3) The monitor could be raised and the tablet placed below it, but I didn't see what the the Gas-strut Fexi-Wall Mount Model F-425 is holding specifically. What are you using it for?
    4) It looks like you have 2 laptops on the left and one in the center, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ you mentioned is a wireless screen. Is this 3 screens for one laptop or 1 laptop + 2 screens for the laptops on the left?
    The Shelf:
    5) I recognize the Disgaea Prinny, the Aloha starter pokemon, the Mario Mushrooms, and the DBZ characters. The Gundam is from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, but I can't tell specifics from here. No idea about the cube on the left or the guys on the right or the mecha in the middle. I recommend another quiz video from looking down at the collection or an answer key. Feel free to turn it into a contest where the winner gets a shoutout.

Wow you know you're stuff and have some good ideas. I went back and posted all the things I bought including the desk mat into the video description. It's all cheap things, but they all work great and good quality. I got the monitor mount to free up space on the desk. The original monitor base was so huge and now that it's gone I can store things like my tablet underneath.
In the video all 3 displays are connected to the G15, but I also have the monitor connected to my Macbook when I need to use that. Since the battery life is so bad on the Macbook now I just use it permanently connected. The whole setup is good for learning now. I'm trying to get into a little bit of indie game development and making better videos and now I can easily have documentations and tutorials up while working.

@@Loaded0 Thanks for the links. I'll have a look. And cheap but practical is the best way to go.
      1) Do I need any specific cables for a multi-monitor set? My G15 won't be here till August (crazy long shipping time), but it just has the one HDMI port, so I assume there's an adapter to split it.
      2) As for Battery life, my current two laptops rarely leave the house, so I just constantly use it plugged in. Tried the Battery saving policy by always removing it from plug and letting battery drain naturally (OR the Battery setting to keep it constantly kept at 50%), but they were impractical when I actually needed to use it on the bus and 50% wasn't good enough. I'll check if there's an 80% setting.
      3) I agree that it's a brilliant learning environment. I tried some game development back in high school and university (Gamemaker, Maya and Blender were the fun bits), but it wasn't for me. At the very least, I'm great at reviewing games, I'm friends with several indie developers (probably no one you've heard of) and I've quietly promoted a few indie gems for those needing a game recommendation. I might be able to write a halfway decent narrative (which is where my skillset really lies), but that's an entirely different discussion and depends on the game genre. Regardless, in terms of game playing I've stuck to consoles and low end Steam games that can run on an i3 (quite a lot of platformers, VNs and Indie Gems), but with the G15, I'm hoping to branch out a little.
      4) Glad to hear the setup is working well for video editing. That's exactly what I want the G15 for. Which programs are you using? I'll probably get the same or something close to it and I could use some advice.
Thanks for reading to the end.

You can use one HDMI and one USB-C adapter (HDMI or DisplayPort) for two additional monitors.
If you’re good at writing and reviews you should try this RUclips thing too for fun. It’s hard to convey what you’re thinking concisely so if you’re good at that it’ll translate well to video.
Try out Davinci Resolve. It’s a free video editor but very powerful.

@@Loaded0 Appreciate the advice. Thanks man. I'll give it a shot. Beats an arm and a leg for the Adobe Suite. And thanks for the advice. Looking forward to having my own Dual-monitor setup.

I am curious about the little screen in the end lol

Haha, that's my Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+. It can be used as an additional 1080p monitor wirelessly.

I too keep a tablet on my desk for an additional screen. Works well for leaving Udemy on for studying!

Yeah I use it to follow tutorials on RUclips. I find some apps work better and are quicker to navigate than going to their websites.

Simple and clean, love it! May I know what monitor are you using?

Thanks! The monitor is an older Asus PB258Q. Nothing special, but has a lot of different inputs and gets really bright. Good for work stuff.

Good videos man. How do you like the thermals on the G15?. I am expecting mine in 2 weeks.

    • @Loaded0
      @Loaded0  3 года назад +1

I think they’re fine. CPU is warmer than most laptops for the same games, but they set the throttle limit higher so no issues with performance. I turn on the G mode when I play modern graphical games to kick the fans up to max. The keyboard doesn’t heat up so that’s comfortable to use too. Enjoy the new laptop!

That's not gaming setup that a productive setup.
Both are different from each other

Yeah I use that way for working on stuff. For gaming I only use the biggest monitor.
