What is your favourite gimbal?
Greg Gimbal, ABC Sports host
Hahaha...currently the AK4500 with the dual handle rig which I did a review on.
The one I have (none)
DJI Ronin S & set it up with a monopod to help give me breaks
Crane V2
Man I can't say this enough... Finding your channel was one of the best things that happened to me in 2020 🙌🏾
wtf Toronto has so much of talented videographers half my subscription feed is filled with Toronto based film makers
bro i dont know what they are putting in the water over there but Canada is where it's at hahaha
Dude, you're on of my favourite youtubers at the moment. SO much value. Thank you :)
Malcolm Rainers thank you!!
Hey Mark-I’m kind of late discovering your channel, but I think what separates you is not just your knowledge, but how candid you are about your own shortfalls. You’re covering topics others have covered hundreds of times, but watching you be yourself gives real confidence to the viewer to try these things. Thanks for what you do. Please keep at it.
Thank you Lenny!!
Great tutorial. You're always offering us your (highly appreciated) down-to-earth tips and experience, when it comes to filmmaking. I'm a big fan from EGYPT.
Thanks Ashraf!! It makes me so happy getting to share my experiences with all of you!
Just bought my gimbal this week. As a photographer and about to try filming, I really agree with the exposure and planning part. :)
I learn so much from Mark. Can’t wait for the course.
The autofocus issue is DEFINITELY the Slog pp! I switched to HLG and the issue completely went away
Yup! Same experience here. Besides, IMHO there's no reason to shoot Slog when it's just 8 bits anyways. It's not like you can get super creative with your color grade before it breaks.
YES !!! I've heard a lot of people saying this as well. HLG has been my choice since I got my 7iii last year :)
Thank you guys for the information. I just get my a7iii and i didn't know this!! You've saved me!!!!
Gerardo Molina Agreed! Maybe if the a7Siii ever comes out it’ll be minimum 10 bit
The A7SIII is coming out after the A7RV
Man Mark you are a God send!!! Love your videos. I just got an AK2000 (which doesn't have the handle) but I'm a nubbie and dreaded the thought of setting up and balancing a gimbal from watching other RUclipsrs do it. But I have the Sony a6400 and the Sigma 16mm 1.4 which I used handheld and tried Warp stabilzer but the results were "jello city"... Lol. But I was amazed at how easy this gimbal was to balance. I started using it right away and my exposure and autofocus was on point, but not planning is what destroyed my first shooting experience... Lol. So thanks bro and please keep 'em coming!
Great and informative video, thank you Mark. Top handle is my favourite 'gimbal' but I own also Zhiyun Crane Plus, I know, there is no hype, but it works for me. Cheers!
6:03 straight to topic
where can we find your full documentaries? i love your work and want to see it all!
Always practical, helpful stuff. Thanks.
Great video and nice gimbal. Love it. Thanks for sharing.
Great tips! Really appreciate your content. I also have an a7iii and the autofocus is insanely frustrating. I see other comments about trying HLG, but I really enjoy the dynamic range from S-log 2. If you find a good solution to stick with s-log 2 and have the autofocus work better I would love to see a video about it!
Thank you for taking the time to share
Hey Mark, maybe you already have a video answering this question, but I really love your color grades, plan on doing a tutorial on your color grading process, or if you use a third party to do your grading.
Great video. Nice to hear those kind of tips not just from DP, but from some one ho is a director.
Tomas Lelys thanks Tomas!
I love you man, I would love to come to canada and just learn about film making.
Takes 6 minutes to get to the first tip
Other gimbals can work in reverse mode. Is it the same as having top handle? Or worse?
How do u avoid panning going crazy? Any specific mode and settings for Pan?
Mark, I usually don't comment on anything here. But it's crazy how you went from "oh maaan, another filmmaker in Matti's Video" to "Dude, this is by far the most valuable content on this Plattform" in like a second. Keep it up, mate!!
Noah Stasch wow thanks man! Appreciate it :)
I find too the a7III auto focus declined when use slog2/3. If I am switch too cine 4 or even hlg, it works much better. So kind sucks.
Right now the Zhiyun Webill S and I also have a Crane 2 but loving the new Webill S with a similar sling mode handle like this one
Thank you sir! I’m trying to get better with my Ronin S 👍
Great video as always man! Thanks for the tips :)
Jakub Chlouba welcome :)
another awesome video man keep them coming!
Jeremy T. Grant thanks brother
It comes with the follow focus too; value! And a full review would be cool too.
Stephen Krieger yeah huge value
Great product. Works great!
Hey Mark, great video as always!!
THANKS BROTHER!!!!
Little product review in this one. Good tips & the Ak 4500 looks solid
Am i the only one who hears the cicadas??? Great video !! Great tips.
Thanks Mark for the video, it's true how we forget the simple things when we have new toys in hands 😆🤣
Mark I love your content. Still warming up to the low key snide commentary though 😂
Great content, again. I learn so much from your videos. Tanks!! Maybe it´s my personal taste, but I find in the vlogging shots of this video the image seems to be a little bit distorted= to wide. Maybe a matter of taste...
Always good!
What i want to know is, which lenses to be used to achieve such look u wanted?
@2:00 you and I are the same. and for that sir i will forever be a faithful subscriber haha !
I love your channel Mark.
Chris Homberg thank you!!
use HLG to instead of slog2, HLG is also friendly for color grading
So cool gimbal, like it very much, want to buy one.
Nice tips Mark!
Teppo Haapoja thanks brother
I have been watching yourRUclips videos and shorts lately and have been studying color grading a lot in Davinci. I really like your darker moody esthetic. Also, your trailer for No Country Is An Island looks really good. When will the film be public? I did not see it on your Vimeo last time I checked.
It'll be public in august after it goes to broadcast!
what kind of Nikon camera is shown @ 2:46?
Love the intro. Thanks for the tips.
Gregg Galgo 🙏🏻 thanks Gregg!
Great tips!
So, Mark... what do you think about the handle for "low mode" shooting? 3:26 to 3:46 , 10:42 , 10:56 , 11:05 hahaha. I feel ya, dude! I just picked up my first gimbal (Weebill S) about a week ago... that handle for low mode is fantastic!!
Very good advice.👌
Did you get the dual handle with the gimbal? I’d love to see you try to put it to use if you decide to make a full review. It circles the entire gimbal so it looks like mini Movi!
Tomi Stenqvist I’ve used those before but haven’t with the AK4500
there is a known issue with autofocus when shooting in slog2/3. Even Matti says so too. It's just annoying. Hope Sony will release a firmware fixing it.
Hey Mark, beautiful video! Appreciate it if you could share the colour profile you use on Sony? And the LUT! I have been trying to get good colours on my Sony A7iii but it's not happening.
Harish Manohar it’s my own LUT I made
Maybe I should release them ;)
@@markbone Yes, it would be great :)
Good stuff 👍🏾
Love the pro tip. I've definitely made these mistakes. 😇
sp3ct0rsUrg3 we all have
I did a shoot with the BMPCC6KPro, manual focus of course, and included a few minutes shot on the Sony A7III just to see how much easier it would be with autofocus. The answer was no, not easier in this case. The Sony autofocus was unpredictable and disappointing. I was using Slog3 though, so that might have been the issue.
It's crazy how hard Feiyu-Tech are going on the influencer promotion with this. They sent me one as well and also sent my friend one who's big on instagram. I do more youtube than IG but I posted on IG as well. They're doing it differently to most companies but I'm interested in seeing the payoff. Aside from that I too really enjoyed the gimbal, it's well thought out aside from the lack of instructions lol
Mark-Christian Killick-Calver just one small instruction manual but it surprisingly self explanatory otherwise!
Works as advertised. Pretty easy to set up. Great value. battery lasted as I hope.
How much were you using the controls on the top handle? Several 3rd party accessory makers are coming out with add-on handles in that style for other gimbals, but they don't have any electronics to use while holding the handle (and rolling.) Would a "dumb" top handle seem like a problem for your style of shooting?
Thomas Donalek I used them less than I expected. A simple top handle works, the record button is obviously the most convenient feature
Good & helpful video
I really hope you put out a documentary course!!
The Mira Image 🙌🏻 starting scripting now!
Mark Bone ❤️🙏🤩
Love your videos, is this the lens Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM Lens?
Sony 16-35 g series 2.8
@@markbone Thanks Bro
@@markbone How do you get 4k video to play in premier time line when editing?
Great advices
Marcus Nestor 🙏🏻
Binge watching this channel over xmas
Happy holidays
Could you do more color grading videos
Prefer steadicam/glidecam for most stuff than a gimbal.
Gimbals too robitic. Good when running or during windy conditions
Song at 2:12?
Am I the only one still using a glide-cam? 😂
KOZYKEV love it! Don’t stop
KOZYKEV glidecams are better
Yup
Super ..,. keep 'um coming, please... . Chuck ... : +) ... .
Nice one. Mine is ronin s
Can youtubers stop saying "This isn't sponsored I only received a $500 gimbal / $4,000 camera / all-expenses-paid trip to Honolulu (or whatever it may be)" please? Yeesh. If you get paid in expensive electronics, it's still a sponsorship. Nice channel by the way, loving your videos!
Take time as pigments, record light and shadow, AK4500 will show the beauty of time.
I do not think that Sony AF is bad, rather it comes down to user experience....
I’d also recommend to you not to twist your ND so hard. I’ve done this in the past . I noticed all the harsh color cast from your Vari ND. Next time stop your lens down a little more and you should be good.
watched
Earlscourt Park!
JOHN SPAROVEC my hood!!
Thanks for the tips, but the background music is too loud and distracting
Please re-do this and provide some cinematic gimbal shots
Naw
Wish they were available in the Netherlands, only the ak4000.. 😓
SANDER VAN DER VEEN sad day
@@markbone yep.. haha
Get someone to ship you one!!
never owing a gimbal before but jumping into giving tips on how to use it is rather strange.
AK4500 is 100% matched the beautiful sunset.
6 mins of advertisement, 5 mins of mistakes, 1 min of summary
Lyops Chet I’m glad you watched the whole thing until the end! Thank you
@@markbone I fast forwarded :(
Why the hate? It's great useful free content...
@@T1Media.ireland it's an advice for further videos on the high competive recource.
Get a good lens with autofocus... ::hides my BMPCC 4K::
:/ lol
Good contents so far as you approach a bit different angles on film making... hopefully you don't become another tech infomercial channels...
Yongho Moon promise I won’t. I find gear reviews exhausting
I dunno. Good lenses, good exposure and planning aren't really gimbal tips. Misleading premise.
Trying to catch up with an athlete whilst holding a camera. Perhaps you should get an extra pair of legs. LOL
Love your contents, thank you very much.
I love your work, you are a true inspiration. But, gimble with auto-focus is wrong :P
11min talk 1min mouvements
half of the video was a review ...
Ir's Just a Weebill S Knockoff... Ok.
Im struggling with the whole ‘professional videographer uses selfie stick and 18mm lens’ thing. If you can make great looking video - as we see you can, why are you using terrible looking video; did you think we wouldn’t care?
"I'll review this gimbal in another video"
*Talks about the gimbal for 5 minutes*
Also it shouldn't take 6 minutes to get to the topic of the video. Good tips though!
Yeah, its been tough since RUclips removed that timeline slider to skip ahead. Too bad youre forced to sit through it.
@@peterjohnjoseph Well you should have saved all that 6 minutes of review for the review video
Cickson but he didn’t.. I can only assume he had to devote 6 minutes per the agreement with the company, and since this guy is giving us his time and information for free, who are we to criticize how he uses the time? The information is there. Who cares if we need to skip ahead?
This is what gets me so mad about the entitlement that we’ve gotten from having all this information freely available. When free info isn’t to our liking, we make snide comments so it will better fit into what we want, instead of caring what the creator wants, or maybe even legally needs to do to keep giving us content,
@@peterjohnjoseph I can see why you feel that way, but honestly I was just giving what I felt was advice. Most creators want to make the best content they can, and sharing ideas is one of the best ways to do that
6 minutes.
Until I actually a point in this video? Yeah probably
Your camera focus hunting took me out of the moment
dude,, the new iphone has better stabilization than this gimbal !
way too much shit talk. Disliked and skipped
