So much happened today, alot of smart cuts
Smart cuts of players they thought were smart pick ups last year. I’m still not sold on the upper management in the Burgh.
Ok I'm good with Russ being a Steeler. Let's see if it goes thru.
With Pat Pete, can easily improve from the player but difficult to replace the person
I don't love a Russell Wilson signing, but if we are going to do it for the vet minimum I just hope he pushes Pickett to his best self. I thought we were restructuring some contracts too to make a little more cap space, but if we stay like this obviusly we won't make any significant splash, just will sign more stop-gap players once again which I really don't like.
I was hoping we sign a good CB, LB, S and WR, so we could address OL early in the draft, I was thinking something like this:

I think everyone is missing whats going on here. Omar has to have a contingency plan if he cant get Mason signed. Thats all this is with Wilson. Everyone seems to forget that Mason could be offered a bag elsewhere and throw up the peace sign. Then what? Yes we have Kenny, but with his tendency to get hurt, whos the veteran backup? Or maybe Wilson is the starter if Mason isnt able to be signed to allow Kenny to sit and learn. Everyone just assumes Mason is a slam dunk re-sign when he can choose to go wherever he wants. This is probably his one and only chance to get a big contract so one cant blame him for shopping around. IMO, talking to Wilson is nothing more than a backup plan should Mason go elsewhere.
Every time you start a video with, “Hey, everybody” my brain hears, “Hey, good buddy” and it makes me happy.

If the Steelers can sign Russell Wilson to a cap friendly contract it could be an improvement in qb play with the new OC. It would at least provide some competition especially if Rudolph leaves. Appears as if the Steelers are looking to upgrade at several positions.
Russell isn't going to cost us much. League minimum. Broncos are on the hook for 90% of his salary.

I’m for them putting together a defense that doesn’t change middle linebackers corners and safeties every year. I understand there are opportunities to bring in players and there’s cap space issues and all of that. But I wish they would figure out a way to put together a defense that has some consistency in personnel from year to year.
By changing so much, You the fan don't have an idea where to put your finger.
Very mixed feelings on Wilson. He’s a clear upgrade over what we have, but we are gonna have to draft another QB in the next year or two. I feel like Wilson would be just good enough that we would never have a high enough draft pick to get a blue chip rookie, and I hate packaging picks to tease up in the first. It’s always such a risk that alters your franchise one way or the other.
Steelers need center, but what is role for Nate Herbig. He played only 3 games on O line. He is not playing all FG, XP snaps on ST. As a top 10 player in Cap $, he played fewer snap than the players above his cap $, or ten players below his cap, excluding IR players. Too much cap $, for his overall snap count. If he was the plug and play IOL guy, he should have finished at C the last half of season. Both Peterson and Robinson did more to earn their paycheck than Nate.
Hopefully Wilson Pickett can make good music for the Steelers! Lol
I don't think Russ is the vet we're looking for. This year should be all about Pickett. If he stays healthy and wins, we have our QB. If he gets injured again, or if QB play doesn't improve then we have 2025 to scout QBs. I do think there's merit in getting a mid round QB instead of the typical late 6/7 round that we've done for the past decade. I'd personally would love if we drafted Spencer Rattler in the 4th or 5th round.
I don't like the idea whatsoever of bringing in a Wilson rental with the idea of "getting over the top" I would like a rental Wilson move, if we were hyped to grab a fresh top rookie QB. So from that standpoint Wilson would be more of a bridge QB than the hopeful savior QB. I just don't like Wilson and can't see myself being hyped for my team, when I don't like our most important player. I would rather come up short with Kenny than to win anything with Wilson. That's just me. I've been a Steelers fan way too long to enjoy the idea of selling out for a cheap rental QB.
I agree that Wilson would be a bridge if they signed him. Too many issues with Kenny especially injuries.
@@raymondrak961 Idk what it is about Kenny that just makes him look so small back there. He's the same height and weight as Mahomes, and he's even bigger than a few others. But when watching KC play, Mahomes looks like a grown man dropping back in the pocket. And somehow Kenny looks the size of a highschool QB.
So this is my fear - Pickett starts, plays bad, then fans chant we want mason. Then Mason wins some games, then loses some games. Then what will fans chant for? I see another 9-8 or 10-7 season, with another first round 20th pick again, and another wasted year. We have to mix things up
Steelers were always too loyal to a fault. I hope things are changing. I like Peterson, but he had to go.
We are crazy if we don’t sign Wilson, it’s a win win deal, Rudolph will want much more than he’s worth,

Agreed. Some people can't accept that Pickett is bad... tripling down when they should cut their losses.
I agree. I still like to think this talk with Wilson is just Kahn doing his due diligence. Everyone in the Steelers organization acknowledged how well Mason played. If Mason is not brought back then there is more to this that we don’t know about and he is in Mike Tomlin’s dog house for whatever reason. I would rather a 28 year old Mason who seems to be ascending than a R Wilson at 35 and declining.
@@ChrisArkwright even if you don’t think he’s bad. How can anyone think he’s better than Rudolph? Rudolph has better arm talent, he's more experienced, better pocket presence, sees the field better.

Wilson was done when he was still with Seattle. Anyone could see that. Great career but it’s over.
Wilson is better than Pickett. He’s better than Mason. Be skeptical all you want. He’s an upgrade and a steal. And the Broncos was a 💩 show so I wouldn’t put much stock in anything that happened there.
What's going on Alex. I'm not on board with Wilson. Mason played better than him. Even at the vet minimum I say no he's washed and doesn't throw the intermediate ball at all. I would like to see a dominant center. This is Pittsburgh after all

Man I'm good on RW. After the poor showing in Denver and his unceremonious exit I would rather suffer through KP and Rudolph one more year than pay this dude.

How is it that EVERY talk;n head can ramble infinitum? -finding ANYTHING to talk about except the elephant in the room? YET never tell us why the franchise DENVER would not play a QB they are paying, paying a guaranteed that is more than OVER half of ALL the #32 teams individual position groups; go pick a position group like WAS O-Line or Minnesota WR group and Russell Wilson will make MORE than a group BY NOT PLAYING FOR ONE SEASON. Why do we not get an answer?... Why would Denver do this? What is the benefit?

Bring in released BUFF S Poyer, CIN Slot Receiver Tyler Boyd, resign Mason Rudolph for 4 seasons, bring in FA C either from MIA or DAL. Extend Dionte, then trade him for a really nice sideline tablet for Kenny Panic to watch the games on. Draft either ND QB Riley Skinner or OSU QB Will Howard in '25.

Pursuing Wilson reeks of desperation.
Don't know that Steelers are really pursuing Wilson but it makes sense because there aren't any veteran QBs available at an affordable cost. Steelers have cut Rudolph but they haven't signed him either. Waiting to see how it plays out.
