    There has to be packages for Fields, absolutely no question but to those saying he needs to be a "slash" type, no no no. He's a guy we're looking at to potentially be the QB of the future. You don't put him out at WR or RB and let defenses take shots at him. If he's running it's from the QB position where he has the option to slide and avoid unnecessary punishment.

    • @mike2687

      As you said, potentially be the QB of the future…
      If he makes this offense better, then I’d weigh that against potential and put him on the field.
      In short, this offense might reach its full potential with him as a piece opposing DCs need to plan for-I’d play him.

    I’m optimistic that the Steelers can maximize Justin Fields, far more than Chicago. He’s a good fit for Arthur Smith’s offense. Rather than making him a pure pocket passer, Smith will design, half field reads off play action. That should minimize mistakes and utilize Fields’ mobility.

    • @EdmacZ
      @EdmacZ 2 месяца назад

      If that's the case then he's definitely NOT the answer, or one that isn't going to take the team anywhere. You can only smoke and mirrors so much, it doesn't matter how good an athlete you are. In the NFL, a Quarterback has to make strong and accurate throws from the pocket.
      NFL Defenses will force Fields to make throws from the pocket, and more often than not he can't do it or will turn the ball over. Lamar Jackson's ceiling is playoff losses because he cannot make big time throws.
      The Steelers are just spinning their wheels is they go that route..

    I want to see this EXACT formation in a package with Fields, Warren, Heyward, Washington, Pickens, Pat. and not just at the goal line I think it could be REALLY strong to throw this in on second down once approaching or in the redzone to keep defenses on their toes.

    As a bears fan, the issue I have with Fields is what this video shows.
    His strengths are athleticism, which is great for read options, escaping, and throwing deep passes.
    His struggles are when he is forced to process defenses from the pocket and throw to guys on time.
    Athleticism is a plus, but at some point you got to win as a pocket passer.
    Teams will contain you in the pocket and stop you from running, forcing you to win with your arm and eyes.
    The read option will not work if teams will just stop the running option.

    • @choosecarefully408
      @choosecarefully408 28 дней назад

      He won as a pocket-passer in college consistently, at a rate higher than all other college QBs that year with no close second. Stats revealed by Brett Kollmann proved that.
      This is the NFL. People don't judge *anything* based on facts. Everyone wants their infantile narratives. The Bears *openly* sabotaged him. Even the people trying to defend the coaches said "they had to simplify the defense (for Fields)" when they asked him to not throw to certain receivers on certain plays. Not one person saw Fields stop himself throwing to them & thought "oh, he simply changed his mind." He would up to throw, saw the jersey # & tucked the ball back in.
      The Bears revealed this was their call when they 1) didn't take him into the blue tent showing they knew he wasn't concussed. (& how could they _know_ he wasn't concussed? Because he was executing the plays as called). & 2) When Eberflus cut off all reporters asking questions about this for weeks afterwards with that idiotic chop-wave motion like he was an angry dad quieting his children with threatening gestures. I mean can you imagine?
      Name any other QB who could suddenly exhibit such behavior & that the HC not checking them would go unquestioned? If the Bengals didn't take Burrow in for protocol their fans would follow Zac Taylor home & ask if he'd care to explain his inaction. While *helping him **_pack!_*
      But the Bears picked away at every single thing Fields could do including this, telling him in advance he couldn't pass to certain receivers even if they were the only ones to be open. Now name a QB who could possibly succeed with that obstacle?
      & everyone pretends that they didn't see all this when it happened even though it all transpired on TV.

    I was watching an Eagles fan's videos debating taking Pickett over Fields, and the best quote I heard was, "You can time how long it takes for Justin Fields to process a defense with a Sun Dial." You said '...haven't seen it since Kordell Stewart' Justin Fields is Kordell Stewart v 2.0. Not slash, but QB Kordell. This is all he has to his game. I hope the Football Gods keep Russell healthy. Otherwise, teams will utilize the same defense that Belichick created vs Kordell in 2001. I wonder if Fields can catch?

    I can see either of these QBs doing very well in Arthur Smith's offence but it is all going to depend on us getting a solid center (probably in the draft) and their integration into the line. And also the line's ability to learn and execute what Arthur Smith needs. If we can't establish the run, neither QB is going to do well.

    If play-calling nor on-field talent doesn't make any difference, then fine. Judge Fields just on what he did regardless of everything else. You're proposing that we take this video as if it were a serious analysis of what he brings though? I don't know what to say.
    I think D.J. Moore would be very upset to hear that he didn't contribute in any way to the Bears '23 season. I guess Lamar just sucked for three years, then decided to make an effort again. I guess Tom Brady is a whiner who should be able to complete passes to receivers who don't gain separation just as easily as ones who do. & so what if Fields' coaches told him not to throw to certain receivers on certain plays? He had others who didn't get open, right? What The QB Brings Is 100% Independent From All Other Factors.
    Glad we got _that_ straight.
    Can't wait to see the video on Russ.
