What a genius idea. Like the art cars, BMW saw an opportunity when everyone else was asleep at the wheel. Can’t wait to hear how this turns out!
In Europe they are actually kinda forced to do this because if EU regulations
audi e-tron and porsche taycan does the same since a year ago
In EU they passed a regulation forcing them to do it, cause pedestrians wouldn’t hear the cars and there were increased accidents. Nevertheless it seems to be working out great for everybody
@@Iusedtohaveasillyhandle No, they do not have to do it for the inside. They only have to do it for the outside to protect pedestrians. This video deals with the Sound of the interior.
Freaking incredible. My favorite combined with my favorite composer. Match made in heaven
Just did a test drive in a demo car and holy crap! The salesman told me pass that guy. I didn’t pass him on the on ramp because he was a good 200’ away going into a merge. When I got on the freeway I opened it up fully. Then I understood why he told me to pass him from so far back. I went from about 60mph flat to 90mph in literally a second. So much stuff happens when accelerating the car feels alive and like it’s a being it’s weird. Even besides the sounds the visuals on the dash are so amazing.
That's what we're going for! We're glad you enjoyed your ride 😊
the thing about cyberpunk movies is the sounds EV's make. BMW and Porsche really hit the ball out of the park with the sounds they incorporate in their EV's
It's nice for used Dacia, from Google play, bud fake sound in Porsche and BMW?
It's not just for the coolness It's also responsibity on the road.
My gripe with electric cars is the no sound but damn manufacturers are really addressing that now huh 😂
That is a most excellent sound.
Oh. HELL YES. My i3 is awesome, Can't wait for the i4.
I heard this in action when test driving in an i5 eDrive40 in Portugal and it really caught me off guard. 🤣
I just heard the car for the first time, today, and was like "This EV sounds amazing!", get home and get on RUclips to search that amazing sound and find this vid and find out the world's best music composer made the sound.... Wow! Lol
The sounds are unreal. 🎉
Hey, BMW. May I suggest you the name of this iconic sound? I'm thinking that this would be The Hans Bimmer 😉 lol
1:08 did anyone else hear "farts"?
Sound starts at 01:30 ...
Is it in 1:36 a hint BMW?
I love M///
Can you project sound for rubber dolls?
Have a 2021 bmw X5 but I now I want i4
Feels like driving Batmobile
❤
Does the BMW i4 edrive35 base model (2023 may production) come with this feature? or do only the M-sport variants have it? This car is getting delivered to me this August and I wanna know.
Would be cool if evs projected these sounds on the outside
My car sounds like a toaster being dragged behind a 1970s station wagon
BMW MAI LOOVE
What a daw on the 1:22 minute?
What was the sound?
Ufo
I have been in the i4 M50 and the real sound in the car sounds nothing like that but if it did my knees would be week the whole time
Just give me a V10 and I'm happy.
Wont happen, they are banning ice cars
How to miss the point.
EV > v10
As much as I love Hans Zimmer and BMW, I think using Shepard Tone is theoretically right, but it's just a bit gimmicky and won't last for decades, like other BMW stuff did. Yes, I understand - marketing, the target auditory and so on. BUT as a true M-fan I think you need a real connection with your car. As a sound engineer myself (of course not nearly as big as Zimmer and Renzo) I think going different path will be even better, for example taking the sound FROM the engine with an electromagnetic and piezo pickup and transforming it would made a really big difference. It's like evolution - you had internal combustion engine, who's sound was transformed using exhaust and intake manifold and in the future you'll have electric engines who's sound will be picked up and transformed using electronics, and it will give you much more connection with the car and will react better to pressing and releasing accelerator. THIS is a true M-method.
If large electric motors sound like capacitor coil whine, then we are better off with no sound. Other than the coil whine i cannot think of a sound that comes from an AC motor. They have almost no sound, and its not even a pleasant sound to begin with.
It's called DLC my friend.
Anyone know him from Spider-Man soundtrack?!
Yeah, need your sound when using electric.
Sick.. Cars has to be silent the noise in our world is already too loud. keep it quiet total quiet.
All this hype for a normal car sound though 💀💀💀💀
Are these comments for real
When I first saw this video a year ago I thought it was brilliant. Then 2 weeks ago I drove the i4 M50 and I thought the sound was the stupidest I heart inside a EV. It's even worse than the Toyota shrieking machine pedestrian warning sound. The i4 is an electric car and it should be quiet except for the slight audio cues that let you relate speed, acceleration and road condition. This BMW "Iconic Sound" was not the aural treat of a piston engine and burbling exhaust, instead it was a much too loud very artificial aura of something between a spaceship and reverberation cavern. I pulled over in the car went through the menu and turned off the "Iconic Sound"... It was much better after that.
Hans Zimmer is amazing and I so highly respect him as a musician, but BMW got it wrong that people want artificial sounds inside the cabin.
I like Bugatti but here I am clicking on BMW for you … you know who you are .. don’t say I don’t support you .
Noice👌
Couldn't you add a nice V8 sound to it....such a bubbling American engine?
Hans Zimmer doesn't know sh i t about cars! Just bring back petrols!
Lame….nothing like an e46 or e92 ///M engine screaming. This fake BS is just dumb. That’s like fugging an inflatable doll and saying that it’s as good as a real woman. Non-sense
That sound makes me cringe...
I test drove the i4 m50 and the sound is amazing. Far from "cringe".
WHAT A LEGEND OF MUSICAL TONE
.....BUT.. CAN IT FUCK UP A TESLA WHEN I ROLL UP.
No? It has less HP than a Tesla. Literally look up the specs.
@@Endorion_YTC I KNOW THE SPECS... JUST A REMINDER THAT SOME CUSTOMERS BUY BMW FOR THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE, AND GETTING SMOKED BY A 'NEW' CAR COMPANY IS A TARNISH ON THEIR LEGACY.
@@MurderBong First of all, I don't get why you are typing all in capital letters. Second, Tesla kicks BMW's ass in electronic performance. Sure a person would want a BMW for the driving experience since it's cheaper than Tesla, though performance wise, I'm sticking with Tesla and their range is impressive.
@@Endorion_YTC LOL good one, the BMW looks ugly with those retrofit screens coming from eBay, they look the same as the gas i4, Mercedes EQ looks unique at least.
@@Endorion_YTC FIRST OF ALL, I USE ALL CAPS BECAUSE LIKE FISHING, YOU SOMETIME CATCH 'ONE' WHO COMMENTS ABOUT IT. SECOND, DO I HAVE TO SAY IT A SECOND TIME 'I KNOW THE STATS'. MY OORIGINAL POST IS A RHETORICAL QUESTION MEANT TO CONVEY MY DISPLEASURE AND DISAPOINTMENT IN BMW. THIRD OF ALL, I SEE YOU LIKE LISTING YOUR COMMENTS LIKE THIS, SO I DID TO FEEL COOL LIKE YOU.
