Great video, thanks. A) What helped me as well was to raise or lower my seat so that when I look straight ahead I'm even with the Horizon straight ahead. The problem is when you bind a key and it does not delete the previous binding, like 99% of programs on the market. It should at least ask you to delete when you assign new, instead of making one to find and delete. Dumb as a box of rocks. It also double assigns yokes, throttles etc. Then it crashes..... 3-4 times a day.
Excellent!! This is the video I have been waiting for. I am an X-Plane 11 guy and bought MSFS 2020 because of the spectacular visuals. One of the things that makes a flight sim good is an excellent and easy camera system, either native or add-on (ChasePlane is not yet available for MSFS 2020, but I have found it very useful in P3D). Unfortunately MSFS 2020 lacks this at this time, and I found myself clinging to X-Plane 11 and avoiding MSFS 2020. That is going to change now because of your excellent video. Thank you again
As a sim-pilot with 1000s of X-Plane hours, I found I just couldn't use MSFS due to camera clumsiness... My disappointment of X-Plane 12's dark cockpits, etc. forced me to give MS another try and THIS VIDEO has made all the difference. THANK YOU !!!

Thank you very much for your help with the view settings. This just what I have been looking for. I have been flying XP11 but I now also own MSFS. Right! Time to get things set up 🤩✈️
What I found particularly handy with XP11 was that when I pushed the same button a second time, the camera returned to the previous view. In msfs2020 the camera always goes back to the base view. For me it was perfect and I miss it a lot. In summary: I am in left view and I click the throttle view button. I push back the throttle view button a second time and go back to left window view. It worked in XP11 for customer view 0 to 9...
Thanks for this. X-plane controls for views are so much easier. Perhaps useful to duplicate the default keyboard mappings and work on the duplicate when making these modifications, not least because you might want different settings for different aircraft later on. But, when I did it, it spent ages thinking about changing the name afterwards, so worth getting the right name first time. And it's easier to remove unwanted mapping to the same key by using the key itself rather than scrolling through the list.
When checking the Inputs for duplicates you can click on the 'Search by Input box' (above Select an Input) and when it changes colour simply press the key e.g. Num1 and it will show all the relevant bindings. Saves scrolling through the list.
Thanks so much! What a great and straight video. A well deserved Thumbs Up and happy to be your newest subscriber. Please keep up with your great job helping us.
Hi! this was very helpful! Can you maybe make a Video about how to have xp11 controls in general for MSFS2020 I just cant get warm with the MSFS Controls and would like to basically copy as much as possible from XP11 for MSFS 😀
Thanks ....great ....you are working from comparing X plane camera s system......could you tell how I get rid of the annoying pop up tags you get any time you hover yr mousepoint over knobs and flightinstruments?
Yes - I found the X-Plane camera system so intuitive, so thought I'd set up what I know best on MSFS. 'Mouse over tool tips' - I know what you mean, I cant turn mine off either, I read somewhere its a bug because it should be controlled in 'Assistance' and 'Notifications' - all mine are off but they still pop up when I hover over all the knobs, dials and buttons. Hopefully this is something else they fix in the next patch.
This helped me understand the keyboard bindings section of MSFS2020 better however when I chose "new" for my FBW A320 I was not able to press "esc" to get back into my control settings. Does it make more sense to just copy the "default" keyboard setting and work from there? Excuse my ignorance if this question is irritating..:-)
Your explanation is quite good and simple. What I don't know is why it does not work in my system. I do exactly all your suggested steps and clean any duplicate key but in the game nothing happens. You set you view, click ctrl + the num to store it and when you go back to the original position and click the num where the view is stored, nothing? What may be happening, any clue? One thing, I have multiple monitors setup (3)...
Very cool. Thanks for sharing this. Fortunately, when you get your hotas setup, you'll also be able to move many of your views, with the hat switches. On my Thrustmaster hotas throttle, there's even an analog stick, which allows smooth, and slow panning, and tilting of the camera. Over on the side stick, it's hat switch will let you cycle through the panel vies, by pulling down on the hat, then pushing it right, til you find the desired panel. But I like the idea of being able to just push one button to get to a desired view.
I suggest if you gonna do it this way go through your Num. Keys and Ctr. And clear al current imputs before reassigning them. Do this by, Search By Imput, and delete everything to those keys first. It'll be much much easier.
Thank for this. Any idea how you can reset cockpit view but keep any applied zoom or translation? I can't figure it out. Best I have is I set a custom view but for some reason I need to press it twice to get me back to my saved view?! The first press takes me to some strange angle. So frustrating!
Brilliant tutorial, thank you. I would assume I could do the same process with the default "Drone" camera assigned keys as well as I only use a few (Number keyboard).
Well done Mr. Sim Geek, you sir are a "steely-eyed missile man" thank you so much just what I wanted to know. Do I have to do that with each aircraft now?
Hi...thx for the video. However, at least on MY system, I have 2 issues I hope you can help me with. First, it seems that I have to go through this mapping procedure for each separate aircraft. I suppose I could live with that and only map those A/C that I often fly, except for the second issue. Not sure why this happened, but when I restart MSFS2020 and go to fly the same A/C that I've mapped the camera settings (as per your video), the numeric keypad (built into Microsoft keyboard) no longer gives me the different views...even though when I go back into the control settings for my keyboard, your mappings are still there. The only thing that stands out to me is that when I initially restarted the sim, all was OK. The next time I restarted the sim, I went into the external views...not the settings, just the external views that I initiated from the cockpit (INSERT key, END key). After that, all previous inside cockpit mappings did not work. Hope I've been clear on this, and hope you might be able to help. Thanks in advance.
@@simgeeks378 Hey Sim Geeks, great video, but what about the question about setting this up for every aircraft. i to have to set up mapping for every aircraft. Is this how it should work? i could see why it should be this way, but just want to make sure
@@simgeeks378 Hi again...On my system at least, I've found that I DO in fact have to set up cockpit views separately for each different A/C. I've tried. I used to use the numbers at the top of the keyboard (1-9) to get my external views in XP11, there's no way to do it here I've seen so far - so we are stuck with using the bar at the top which is very clunky.
I can't look around inside the plane the camera doesn't move around please I need help tell me what to do I think the problem is on the camera settings but I try everything it doesn't work..
Initially my mapping worked on any aircraft. This was better than expected. Now it has stopped working altogether. Is there any way that I can delete it & start off on a clean slate? I just don’t want old mappings in the way & causing confusion. Many thanks in advance.
After fiddling with the program this morning I found the answer to my own question. At the bottom of the page in CONTROLS>KEYBOARD Is a heading “PRESET MANAGER” where all the options needed can be found.
