    I misspoke in the video! The bigger pipe is a 1-1/4” pipe, not a 2” pipe.

    I can't believe it never occurred to me to use clear plastic wrap and a flashlight. I just slapped one together with my maglight and some tape; for the event I'm going to Thursday. This is a great idea, thank you!

    Another idea which I have used is to texture the “wood” handle part. Use a wire brush and create “grains” in your handle to resemble wood grains. Excellent job !

    Bought a dollar store light saber that broke but I now have a blue top piece that I am making the magic staff out of. Can’t wait to show y’all the staff.

    Definitely making a torch for larping

    Definitly going to be making this. The Level of entry for this project is amazing. Everyone can start there, customize it and add upgrades. Im going to see if a 2" wooden Dowel could be used for real wood texture. Another Potenial Upgrade would be finding a way to make it flicker that wont bust the bank.

      Yeah definitely a lot of ways you can customize it. The two biggest upgrades I want to make right now are a flickering light, and getting a button on the side of the torch that I can turn it on and off with without having to take the flashlight out every time

    Hey another idea to give it a different look would be to use synthetic stuffing materials (stringy, web like stuff) between layers of plastic wrap to bulk up the flame. Great torch!

    Am thinking of making a wizards staff. Using this style, to make a 5’6” walking staff that lights up. But I’d use a blue or green cone from a broken light saber for a more magic looking flame.

      That sounds awesome! Would love to see the final result

    Thanks man, this is awesome. I'm going to make a variation of this and maybe sell a few. I found some flickering bulbs on Amazon now I just need a power supply.

    Brilliant idea, however I believe I 'm going to use a foot of 1" dowel rod for my handle.

    If you want to, you could use the pipes and fittings as the body of the flashlight. Just a thought.

    You can save yourself some painters tape by using scrap/newspaper to mask off larger areas. Also, the logo on the cone can probably be removed with rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover if you don't want to scratch up the surface.

    Now I’m gonna build this and figure out how to have something dangling inside the diffuser to allow a flickering when in motion like a flame like half a lolly stick on string secured to the inside at the top 🤔 I’ll figure it out and get back great video

      I can only come up with the old fan and strips of cloth idea for movement and realism. I dont understand how to make a flame-like led one. Maybe if i break one of the walkway ones ill understand more. But ill not tear it apart for no reason.

    Where can I get the reducer I can’t seem to find them anywhere?
    Edit: found all parts at Home Depot, except for the flashlight, ended up getting the flashlights and the cages on Amazon for convenience and better price.

    So what you're saying is that there's enough material in the handle for 2 torches?

    • @LarpShire
      @LarpShire  2 года назад +1

      Yeah it’s nice since I usually make two at a time cause the 2’ pipe makes 2 handles and the flashlights come in a 2 pack

    Hi. I was just wondering why you would need a cage? I am looking to use this as a theatre prop.

    If you're not allowed to LARP with real flames then you need to find a different group.

    • @LarpShire
      @LarpShire  8 месяцев назад +1

      Every game we play in allows enclosed real flames. Real lanterns are cool but they provide way less light, tend to get very hot, and you can’t run or fight while holding one.
