Bucket List Shelling in the Outer Banks!

- Today we are out again in the Outer Banks of North Carolina! This time, I find a shell I've never found whole before, as well as some more unusual Nort Carolina coast shells!
I especially enjoyed this vlog. I love that you pick up even the broken pieces of the Welks they are so beautiful in their own right. They would make the most beautiful shell garden. Thank you for taking us along on your adventures.
Given I was in a new to me area and that particular day was so slow, I picked a bunch of broken stuff. Underrated for sure! Thank you for coming along!
I went to your about me page hoping to find an address or email, there isn't any. I can send you shells I've found walking those same beaches for 40 years. Whole shells, beauties. The bone you found is a fish vertebrae. Glad you had a lovely time. There is no beach more beautiful than the wild and true Outer Banks of NC.
What a fun trip! I'm way more of a novice sheller than you, but what I've started to enjoy about going out is to see what species of shell or specific shell "emerges" as the find of the day. Yes, I'm a sucker for big intact whelks, but this trip was a good example of finding a disappointing number of broken Knobbed Whelks, yet there were some other great finds including that Channeled Whelk -- congrats on that find! Technical question: what is your camera set-up? Your auto-focus is quick and responsive and you get some great close-up footage.
Sometimes there really is a theme to shelling. That day was all about small shells and broken whelks. Have you ever found a large intact Channeled whelk on Hatteras beaches? All the ones I come across always seem to have a piece missing. The camera I use is a Panasonic FZ-80, and it has pretty nice image quality, but it is definitely a risk bringing out a fragile camera to the beach. It hasn't died on me yet though! Sometimes I use my GoPro Hero 5 for videos, though you can't really focus with it all that well. Thanks so much as always for the support and for watching! :)

Oh man So many broken whelks. Those shells are heavy, mostly I also find them broken
The broken ones are all over those beaches. That day was unusually slow, usually I am able to find at least one good one on a decent day. Thanks so much for watching!

I actually seriously considered going out there, but it was just such a long drive/ferry ride from where I stayed at in Hatteras island, and I just didn't have that much time for that. One day I will get out there though! Thanks for watching!

That is a valid point, but wrangling a more and more complicated camera set up to a very non camera friendly environment, is just a matter of time before something would break LOL. There's not much I can do about that, and wind is an expected aspect of the coastal environment. Thanks for watching!
