I love how I feel as if I'm right there with you shelling when watching on my 4K Xmas present. I open the door and let the sounds of the waves and the smell of the salt air here sweep through my office to enhance my adventure!!!....raining outside right now, so now that the video has come to a close; suppose I should close the door and once again thank you for letting me tag along on yet one more shelling adventure!!!
I love this video from the beginning sunrise to the last shell. I lived in Florida for 16 years with my husband, the love of my life. We lived on the west coast, but every chance we had we would drive over to the east coast and get a hotel on the beach. He was a photographer, so we spent most of our time making photos. He passed away in 2019 and I moved back to Texas to be near my family. I miss Florida and my life in paradise. Your video of the ocean roar, the sunrise, all of the shells brings back the beautiful memories. Thank you.
I truly appreciate your anecdotes. I am so happy to read that this content can help transport you back through cherished memories 💙 Thank you so very much for watching, friend!
My husband and I just got back from Florida Saturday and we had the opportunity to go to SWF and Southeast. We stayed on singer island a few nights and had amazing results! However most of them my husband and I fought the Atlantic for and shelled the break line! At one point I did an uphill somersault 😂 My body is still recovering! We did find 3 intact lions paws, a distorsio, several moons, scotch bonnets, 2 hawk wings (both broken but 80% plus on both still intact), a perfect queen helmet and a hairy triton fully intact! Plus lots of other goodies! Not bad for our first time shelling the Atlantic! Just wanted to say thank you, if it wasn’t for your videos we would never know these beautiful places existed!! (Had a blast on Juno too, could the water get any more gorgeous! Amazing!)
I usually have shelled on Sanibel but not on East side of Florida...I am amazed at the shell pile here! And interesting shells too! I think a shelling trip to this side would be good! Especially since Sanibel needs to "heal". Thanks for a wonderful video!!
Hi friend! Shelling on the east coast of Florida is quite a different experience to shelling on the west coast of Florida. While shelling here can often be hit or miss, you'll never find disappointment in the beauty of the wild Atlantic Ocean! It's often electric blue colored here, because of the impact of the Gulf Stream! Good luck on your trip, and thanks for watching!
How amazing ! This is shelling paradise and I was so excited and happy to see all the beautiful shells you found ! It was really a wonderful time spent at the beach with you ! 🐚❤️🏝️
We've been watching your amazing videos for a long time and I just want to send along a huge 'thank you' for all the work you do in bringing these videos to RUclips and sharing your adventures. It's very inspiring and extremely fun to watch. We're in the Jupiter area so we always really enjoy seeing what you find on our nearby beaches. Your discovery of that Junonia piece in this video is an absolutely incredible find. We've never seen or heard of that before, so it gives us hope one day we might actually find one on our nearby beaches. Again, thank you for doing what you do! Love your videos!
Hi friends, I really appreciate your great feedback! My family winters in Florida, so when I visit, I always try to make a stop over to the SE Coast to get some shelling, in. Interestingly, I didn't realize how rare it is to find J's or even J pieces in SE Florida, until after I uploaded this video and saw some of the related comments. Thanks as always for watching!
Love the new video opening!! Amazing video and such beautiful views🤩. That sundial 😍😍. Can't believe how many shells were on the beach. Your scores we all awesome!! So jealous
What a fun day of shelling! Don't you just live the sound of the water pulling across the shells? The imperial Venus clams were beautiful - I had never seen those before. I loved your oyster finds, too.
You scored today with some fabulous shells and massive shell piles congratulations the sounds of the crashing waves and rolling shells was pretty amazing
Love your intro :-) And wow all those shells! I'm glad you have such good luck when you hit the East Coast. It makes me want to visit right now, but I know there are no guarantees those shells will show up. Gorgeous beach and video my shelling friend!
Hi friend! I have definitely gotten skunked in this area before, but I try to just tend to keep walking until I find something, lol! Thanks for the feedback on the intro, and thanks for watching!
Amazing shells looking like a carpet on the beach. The photography of the sunrise at the beginning of the video is spectacular. I love the feeling that you get when you experience something so magical. I hope to make a trip in the next couple of months to the beaches on the Sea of Cortez. With COVID I've been away too long. The beach seams to re-energize me. 🐕🥰🇺🇸
It will be the first time that I go shelling since I've started watching these shelling videos. It will be fun if I can identify the shells I find. I'm also going to buy a book on shells to take with me. 🐕🥰
Your taste in shells compared to mine are so different. I was dying to see shells I would cover, being overlooked. We have our own tastes and likes. I live in Southern California and all the shells, once lining our beaches have been gobbled up by the masses...not real Californians. The beach waves are like ours, mostly crashing onto the shore. We don't run away from them, we plunge in. I love both lapping and crashing water...AND I would have waded into a shell piled, sit down, spend the day sifting through every shell possible. Oh I am heart aching and envious. That gorgeous sight of God's creation and beauty...worth much more than money could buy. You are truly and deeply blessed. ❤
I have quite a few shells in my collection at home, so I usually only pick up certain types of shells. I love wading into huge shells piles(when they are present), and sorting through - it's a treasured experience! Thanks so much for coming along!
Great video ! That was a huge shell pile, oh my goodness ‼️ We have those shells here in Navarre & Pensacola FL. I have only found fragments of a Lion's Paw. I love that you found a Junonia cob. Thoroughly enjoyed your adventure. Thanks for sharing !
This whole area of SE Florida is amazing, if not even for the shelling, for the electric blue water of the wild Atlantic! Thanks for watching, and good luck shelling!
I can't believe you found a junonia cob on the east coast! It's definitely much rarer to find a broken specimen there than a perfect one on the west coast. And those scotch bonnets are an east coast classic. Thanks for taking us along!!
I know, I was so excited, but I suppose I didn't realize until later on how rare it is! Thanks so much for watching, and love the Outer banks content you have been posting!
These shells can indeed be tough to distinguish between. One key indicator for a Bittersweet Clam is the thin ribbing on the shells...this goes for Spectral, Giant and Decussate Bittersweet Clams - all of which can be found in SE Florida. Calico Clams don't have that ribbing, and their patterning is more spotted/blotchy. Calico Clams are also more elongated(wider than they are, tall), than Bittersweets are. Thanks for watching!
Watching this again because I love this video and your shells!! Would you please tell me which beach in singer island this was? We are going next week!!
I think you are right on the Gaudy! I have found a few interesting color variations of Natica shells in SE Florida over the years, including a separate species called the Florida Natica(Natica tedbayeri), which is a cousin of the Gaudy. The shell here appears to be lacking most of the other pigments aside from the zingy orange patterning we would normally see on a Gaudy - such a cool find! Thanks for watching, friend!
I never been to this before that’s a huge among us piles and I really enjoy these piles. I wish I was there. I wish I would get my pickax or shovel to pick out the shells that I could ever want to have seashell collecting
Interesting question! These shell piles are pretty fair weather, meaning they often disappear just as quickly as they appear, with the tides. I always try to walk around the edges if I have shoes on, but sometimes it's impossible to find goodies, if you don't move into the middle(with the bigger piles). With all of that said, most often in these types of piles, I'm on my hands and knees looking closely, lol! Thanks for watching!
